Im going crazy looking at names!

Does anyone else feel like this? [name_m]Ive[/name_m] been looking at names for weeks now. List after list after list. We are havinga girl but ive only found maybe 2 names I really like and a long list of names that are ok but nothing strikes me as “The one”. And the 2 I really like hubby doesn’t care for and yet he has only suggested 1 name…and I don’t like it! He suggested the same name for our first daughter and knows I didn’t like it then either. We have a boy and a girl already. Our daughters name just came to me while listening to a song that was played at my grandmothers funeral a few months earlier and our sons name came from a short list my husband did eventually give me. But this time around he just seems to think the name will come to us when she is born.

I feel lost and this baby will never have a name.

I feel the same way. I’ve started to think of names for a second daughter. [name_f]Every[/name_f] name I like my husband dislikes and vice versa. I really am about to give up. I wish I had some advice but at least you know you’re not alone.

Sorry you’re feeling overwhelmed. Maybe just let the issue rest for awhile, and inspiration will strike when you least expect it. I’m pretty sure you’ll eventually find a name for your child!

if you tell us the names of your two children, maybe we will get a sense of your taste and give you some inspiration…[name_f]Do[/name_f] you like popular names in huge top fifty ranking or not as popular, but at least familiar as not to sound weird?
maybe you find you like nature names or names richer in history, or you tend to like tomboyish girl names and preferences like that?
or you may be overwhelmed as to want to sleep on it a few days…

I was thinking maybe I need a name break. lol. but since finding out its a girl I have been looking up names daily trying to find the perfect one.
Luckily I still have a few weeks to decide as im only 24 weeks right now

My daughter is [name_f]Theresa[/name_f] [name_f]Violet[/name_f] NN [name_f]Tessa[/name_f]. She is named after both my grandmothers who have passed away
My son is [name_m]Quinlan[/name_m] [name_m]Matthew[/name_m] [name_m]Stephen[/name_m] NN [name_u]Quinn[/name_u]. His dad picked out [name_m]Quinlan[/name_m] and the middle names are after his best friend and brother who passed away.

Originally I was planning to give this baby my great grandmothers name…[name_f]Minna[/name_f]. Because it follows with the trend of my other kids NN’s. But I found out that a cousin of mine (lives far away) is due before me and is going to give her baby girl my great grandmothers name. My great grandmother is still alive at 106 years old!!!

I am planning to ask hubby for a list of family names from his side. His mother is [name_f]Helen[/name_f] and follows the NN trend but I don’t care for it. I like not so popular names but hubby likes the most popular (with the exception of the 1 name…[name_f]Deidre[/name_f]…which I do not like, I think its hard to pronounce and its not my style)

So far the 2 names I really like are [name_f]Coraline[/name_f] NN [name_f]Corra[/name_f] and [name_f]Clarice[/name_f] NN [name_f]Clara[/name_f] (not sure on this now because the doubles are not together)
and hubby also isn’t sold on the idea of the NN trend. he thinks we don’t have to follow it for baby #3 but I feel we do.

the baby will have a name no matter what

maybe it wont be PERFECT

but you can always pick something last minute as a place holder, either until you find ‘the one’ or make peace with imperfection

I’m sorry, that sounds really frusterating. Your daughters name came to you in such a sweet way I am sure you are hoping that something similar would happen this time! don’t worry I’m sure you will pick a great name for your daughter and she will make it special no matter what.

Well what about a longer name that can have the nn [name_f]Minna[/name_f]?

[name_u]Dominique[/name_u]
[name_f]Marina[/name_f]
[name_f]Hermione[/name_f]
[name_f]Jessamine[/name_f]
[name_f]Melinda[/name_f]
[name_f]Willemina[/name_f]
[name_f]Araminta[/name_f]
[name_f]Minerva[/name_f]

I feel your pain! I’m in the same boat at 30 weeks. I love my 5 yr old daughter’s name & feel obligated to adore my 2nd baby’s name just as much. But, I’m starting to remember that it’s awkward at first no matter what name you choose. [name_m]Just[/name_m] getting to know a new little person and the identity you’ve given them. Eventually, you adore the name because you adore your daughter or son. They become that name. So, it doesn’t have to knock you off your feet when you hear it. [name_m]Just[/name_m] choose something that fits your family and is respectable. Within just a few months, you won’t be able to imagine her with any other name.

I sympathize completely with your situation. I [name_f]LOVE[/name_f] our daughter’s name and if this one is a girl, I want to love it with equal passion and so far … nothing. I have no idea why it is so hard for husbands/fathers to make a list of names so that we at least know what direction they are heading for!!! They seem to be really good at turning down all our ideas but contribute nothing to the conversation! Good luck with your hunt!

I went a bit crazy trying to name my first daughter so I will do my best to help based on the info you’ve given  I’m assuming the continuation of nickname trend is very important so I’ve only listed names that fit that.

So… [name_f]Theresa[/name_f] and [name_m]Quinlan[/name_m] both sound quite Irish to me… In that sense I like that your husbands suggestion as it is an Irish name. Still not a huge fan of [name_f]Deirdre[/name_f] either. [name_m]How[/name_m] about:
[name_f]Eileen[/name_f]:Eilee/leena (Irish version of [name_f]Helen[/name_f] so this would be my top pick of the Irish names for you… Plus I think nn Eilee is adorable !)
[name_f]Katrina[/name_f]…[name_f]Kitty[/name_f]
[name_f]Merrin[/name_f]… [name_f]Merry[/name_f] (love this nn!!)
[name_f]Murielle[/name_f]…[name_f]Ellie[/name_f]
[name_f]Talullah[/name_f]…lulla
[name_f]Tallulah[/name_f]…[name_f]Talli[/name_f]
[name_f]Caitlinn[/name_f]…[name_f]Linny[/name_f]
[name_f]Kathleen[/name_f]…leena, kitty
[name_f]Coleen[/name_f]: [name_f]Leena[/name_f]

Or based on your love of [name_f]Coraline[/name_f] and [name_f]Clarice[/name_f] perhaps you’d like:
[name_f]Clarissa[/name_f]… [name_f]Clarry[/name_f]
[name_f]Camilla[/name_f]… [name_f]Milly[/name_f]/[name_f]Cammy[/name_f]
[name_f]Callista[/name_f]… [name_f]Cally[/name_f]
[name_f]Cordelia[/name_f]… [name_f]Della[/name_f]
[name_f]Corabelle[/name_f]… [name_f]Belle[/name_f]
[name_f]Cornelia[/name_f]… [name_u]Nelly[/name_u]…[name_f]LOVE[/name_f] this
[name_f]Christabel[/name_f]… [name_f]Tabby[/name_f]/[name_f]Bella[/name_f]… And this!!

Other names that spring to mind with your sibset:
[name_f]Abigail[/name_f]… [name_u]Abbey[/name_u]
[name_f]Agnes[/name_f]… Aggey
[name_f]Bridget[/name_f]… [name_f]Biddy[/name_f]… [name_f]Birdie[/name_f] is my fave nn but it doesn’t fit your pattern! [name_f]Betty[/name_f] could work too!
[name_f]Magdalene[/name_f]… [name_f]Maggy[/name_f]/[name_f]Maddy[/name_f]

Lots of these would sound good with [name_f]Minna[/name_f] in the middle !!

fluzie suggested nn [name_f]Tabby[/name_f] for [name_f]Christabel[/name_f] and it made me think of [name_f]Tabitha[/name_f] nn [name_f]Tabby[/name_f] or [name_f]Tibby[/name_f]

I feel the exact same way!! My third girl is coming in 6 weeks and I am so burned out from trying to find the perfect name. I’ve stopped for weeks at a time and let my mind rest but am really starting to get nervous. I had no name picked out or loved for my first daughter (her gender was a surprise and I was so sure she was a boy! LOL) So we just went with [name_f]Isabella[/name_f] and I have huge regrets for her name. My second daughter’s name was picked out early ([name_f]Isla[/name_f]) and I still adore her name. Nothing feels right for this little one and I am so scared I am going to “settle” again with an alright name to me and regret it later. [name_u]Lucky[/name_u] for you - you do still have a lot of time and hopefully something fabulous and just right will come to you!!
