Imogen vs Joanna

I third this! [name_f]Imogen[/name_f] is an excellent choice and I agree with what @persephonescrown has said here

Both are lovely options! I do think [name_f]Joanna[/name_f] [name_f]Carolyn[/name_f] flows better, but I don’t think that means it has to be the better pair. [name_f]Imogen[/name_f] Carolyn’s repeated sounds could be sweet and sing-songy.

I think it depends a lot on what’s more important to you as the parent. [name_f]My[/name_f] eldest’s fn and MN flow in Spanish but require a gottal stop in [name_f]English[/name_f]. I’m sure most people would say they don’t flow in [name_f]English[/name_f], but I kind of love the forced gottal stop. I also personally like the visual of matching vowels in first and MN like in [name_f]Joanna[/name_f] [name_f]Carolyn[/name_f]. There’s no rule book. It seems like [name_f]Joanna[/name_f] has more meaning to you and that might be the pull, but if [name_f]Imogen[/name_f] is the name you love in your gut, I don’t think flow is a big issue.

I agree with everything @jk_garrison has said! I think loving a name and/or a name having lots of meaning is a quality that trumps flow every single time.

I personally absolutely love both [name_f]Imogen[/name_f] and [name_f]Joanna[/name_f], so I’m really not much help! I think you should go with whatever really does feel the most like your child :yellow_heart:

Both are gorgeous :sunflower:

[name_f]Imogen[/name_f] is lovely a name that has always been on my radar really classic, graceful, has a whimsical majestic flair and I love that she’s Shakespearean. I think [name_m]Duncan[/name_m] & [name_f]Imogen[/name_f] sound fab together. However I do agree that [name_f]Imogen[/name_f] [name_f]Carolyn[/name_f] sound a bit choppy. But then how often do you say first and middle name together it is a rare occurrence so I wouldn’t focus to heavily on that.

[name_f]Joanna[/name_f] is such a sweet melodic name with a fun vintage sound she’s upbeat with a natural springtime disposition. [name_f]Joanna[/name_f] is lovely works very well with [name_m]Duncan[/name_m] both names have a fun vintage 1950s flair. [name_f]Joanna[/name_f] [name_f]Carolyn[/name_f] has a great flow.

I think for your sibling set and your chosen middle name I lean more towards [name_f]Joanna[/name_f]. However I would wait to your little one is born and see which name fits her the best.

While I love both, I do think [name_f]Joanna[/name_f] [name_f]Carolyn[/name_f] sounds much better. You have great taste in names!

I much prefer [name_f]Joanna[/name_f]! Such a sweet, melodic sound. [name_m]Even[/name_m] though I know [name_f]Imogen[/name_f] is a legitimate name, I can’t help but see it as “imagine” spelled funny.

(I also think [name_f]Joanna[/name_f] sounds much better with Carolyn)

[name_f]My[/name_f] vote goes to [name_f]Joanna[/name_f]. It sounds best with [name_f]Carolyn[/name_f] & I think it sounds best with [name_m]Duncan[/name_m].
