Impression of these names?

We are having the hardest time naming our baby girl. Here is the list. Big brother is named [name]Gabe[/name] (3). What are your impressions of these names? We want to avoid anything super popular and anything that our little girl will resent being given because it is too “weird.”
Thanks in advance for you help!

[name]Lux[/name]

[name]Micah[/name]

[name]Olive[/name]

[name]Sawyer[/name]

[name]Scarlett[/name]

[name]Sylvie[/name]

[name]Hazel[/name]

[name]Tess[/name]

[name]Theodora[/name] ("[name]Teddy[/name]")

[name]Jinx[/name]

[name]Willa[/name]

[name]Sawyer[/name]

[name]Judah[/name]

[name]Charlotte[/name] (we’d call her “[name]Charlie[/name]”)

[name]Wylie[/name]

[name]Wynn[/name]

[name]Lux[/name]- i like it could spell it Luxxe. not sure how well it will age

[name]Micah[/name]- a boys name

[name]Olive[/name] - very cute goes well with [name]Gabe[/name]

[name]Sawyer[/name] - A BOYS NAME! [name]GAbriel[/name] sounds more feminine than this name. I do not like it at all.

[name]Scarlett[/name]- really like it good sister for [name]GAbe[/name]

[name]Sylvie[/name]- it’s ok

[name]Hazel[/name]- cute but very pop where I like in los angeles

[name]Tess[/name]- cute just seems insufficent

[name]Theodora[/name] ("[name]Teddy[/name]")- its ok

[name]Jinx[/name]- Like the word u call out then 2 people say the same thing?? NOT good.

[name]Willa[/name]- Very cute goes well with gabe.

[name]Judah[/name]- a boys name that is quite pop

[name]Charlotte[/name] (we’d call her “[name]Charlie[/name]”)- I like this one

[name]Wylie[/name]- a boys name. I dislike like it for a boy or girl

[name]Wynn[/name]- its ok

Your list confuses me a little bit as you have some super fem names like scarlett and some very manly boys names like [name]Sawyer[/name]. I think the names that will best fit your love for both sides would be [name]Charlotte[/name] nn charlie and [name]Theodora[/name] nn [name]Teddy[/name]. [name]Willa[/name], [name]Scarlett[/name] and [name]Olive[/name] are my fave. Best of luck.

[name]Willa[/name] & [name]Gabe[/name] by far.

Thanks for your input. I am totally all over the place which goes to show just how confused and uncommitted we are. I don’t think I have a name style for girls. We would have had no problem naming a boy. Girls names have been way more difficult. I meant to take [name]Judah[/name] off but the other boys names we’ve tried to consider as girls names too but am not sure if that would make this girl be mad at us for it!

With a brother named [name]Gabe[/name]:

[name]Lux[/name] - I quite like this name but it feels a little out there with [name]Gabe[/name]. It might encounter pronunciation issues (Is it LOOKS or LUCKS?).

[name]Micah[/name] - I’d definitely think [name]Gabe[/name] and [name]Micah[/name] were brothers. [name]Micah[/name] is totally a Biblical boys name to me and I really cannot see it on a girl.

[name]Olive[/name] - very nice, though a different style than [name]Gabe[/name].

[name]Sawyer[/name] - I personally think this is too masculine for a girl.

[name]Scarlett[/name] - very pretty though getting popular. It’s nice with [name]Gabe[/name], though a bit more serious.

[name]Sylvie[/name] - I love this with [name]Gabe[/name]. I love how it’s a nickname and it’s a bit vintage. This would be an excellent choice.

[name]Hazel[/name] - a bit too vintage with [name]Gabe[/name].

[name]Tess[/name] - love this one with [name]Gabe[/name] too! So fun and spunky, not overly feminine but definitely a girl.

[name]Theodora[/name] ("[name]Teddy[/name]") - This is too heavy with [name]Gabe[/name], I think. [name]Teddy[/name] is cute, but again, I’d assume [name]Teddy[/name] and [name]Gabe[/name] were brothers. You might also like [name]Thea[/name] or [name]Thora[/name].

[name]Jinx[/name] - I wouldn’t name a child this… by definition a [name]Jinx[/name] is something that brings bad luck.

[name]Willa[/name] - I love this. It’s nice with [name]Gabe[/name], a bit older but not in a bad way.

[name]Judah[/name] - Another strong biblical classic… for a boy. I really can’t see this on a girl. [name]Judith[/name] is a feminine alternative.

[name]Charlotte[/name] (we’d call her “[name]Charlie[/name]”) - I actually know a [name]Charles[/name]/[name]Charlie[/name] and [name]Gabriel[/name]/[name]Gabe[/name] sibset. [name]Charlotte[/name] is very sweet, but also pretty popular.

[name]Wylie[/name] - sounds like [name]Riley[/name] with a speech impediment. Prefer it as nn for [name]Willa[/name].

[name]Wynn[/name] - Cute but it really sounds to much like the word “win” to me, and it seems a bit overambitious as a name. [name]How[/name] about [name]Bryn[/name]? Or [name]Winter[/name] nn [name]Win[/name]? or [name]Quinn[/name]?

The winners on your list are definitely [name]Sylvie[/name], [name]Tess[/name] and [name]Willa[/name]. I think [name]Bryn[/name] would also go really nicely with [name]Gabe[/name]. It’s short, snappy and energetic. It’s a bit masculine sounding, but it’s used a lot for girls, unlike some others on your list. [name]Hope[/name] that helps!

[name]Lux[/name] - Sounds like a boy name.

[name]Micah[/name] - is a boy’s name. Also since it’s biblical genderbending it is in exceptionally bad taste.

[name]Olive[/name] - Not bad, I don’t love it, but it’s cute.

[name]Sawyer[/name] - Also a boy’s name.

[name]Scarlett[/name] - Adorable. I love [name]Scarlett[/name].

[name]Sylvie[/name] - A little too frilly for me personally, surprised to see you listed it with your other choices.

[name]Hazel[/name] - Also very cute.

[name]Tess[/name] - I’ve never really been crazy about it, but not bad.

[name]Theodora[/name] (“[name]Teddy[/name]”) - [name]Teddy[/name] is cute on a boy, on a girl it comes off overly babyish.

[name]Jinx[/name] - Stripper name, sorry.

[name]Willa[/name] - [name]Love[/name] [name]Willa[/name], it’s incredibly nice on a woman of any age.

[name]Judah[/name] - See above at [name]Micah[/name], expect it’s even worse.

[name]Charlotte[/name] (we’d call her “[name]Charlie[/name]”) - Awful, and non sensical. [name]Charlotte[/name] and [name]Charlie[/name] don’t even make the same sounds. [name]Lottie[/name] is cute though.

[name]Wylie[/name] - Sounds bad on either gender.

[name]Wynn[/name] - Seems illegitimate and incomplete. Also sounds pompous since it’s a different spelling of “[name]WIN[/name]”.

It seems you odd you say you want to avoid anything popular or weird since most of your names are boy names. There is nothing weirder or more trendy then giving your daughter a man’s name.

So I really like [name]Scarlett[/name] and [name]Willa[/name]. [name]Hazel[/name] and [name]Olive[/name] are nice too.

[name]Lux[/name]-Tacky. (Sorry!) Seems akin to naming your child [name]Fancy[/name].
[name]Micah[/name]-[name]Don[/name]'t like it on a boy or a girl.
[name]Olive[/name]-Cute, but as someone said, quite different from [name]Gabe[/name].
[name]Sawyer[/name]-Prefer this for a boy.
[name]Scarlett[/name]-[name]Lovely[/name] and perfect with [name]Gabe[/name].
[name]Sylvie[/name]-Wonderful!
[name]Hazel[/name]-See [name]Olive[/name]
[name]Tess[/name]-Short and sweet. [name]Gabe[/name] and [name]Tess[/name] is delightful!
[name]Theodora[/name]-I think I could come around on this one, but it’s not my fave from your list.
[name]Jinx[/name]-Ummm. I’d save it for the cat.
[name]Willa[/name]-Cute and uncommon. Has a pioneer vibe when paired with [name]Gabe[/name].
[name]Judah[/name]-This is odd to me because I find it too soft for a boy. I don’t like it for a girl either, because it doesn’t even have that boyish charm on a girl. It’s just… Biblical.
[name]Charlotte[/name]-Sweet, but more delicate than your other choices. I like others better.
[name]Wylie[/name]-Not a very attractive sound to me.
[name]Wynn[/name]-OK, but projects a more prep school vibe than what I think you are aiming for.

Faves: [name]Scarlett[/name], [name]Tess[/name], and [name]Willa[/name].

[name]Lux[/name]: Very punk rock - see [name]Lux[/name] Interior of the Cramps

[name]Micah[/name]: Lacks personality

[name]Olive[/name]: [name]Olive[/name] Oil?

[name]Sawyer[/name]: [name]Dianne[/name] [name]Sawyer[/name]

[name]Scarlett[/name]: Adorable

[name]Sylvie[/name]: Cutsey

[name]Hazel[/name]: Nice sounding yet Granny-ish

[name]Tess[/name]: Pretty - depends on middle name

[name]Theodora[/name] ("[name]Teddy[/name]"): Solid name (I like [name]Thea[/name] as nn)

[name]Jinx[/name]: Sounds like a pet

[name]Willa[/name]: Doesn’t sound like a real name

[name]Judah[/name]: Tough to pull off

[name]Charlotte[/name] (we’d call her “[name]Charlie[/name]”): Good for femme or tomboy

[name]Wylie[/name]: Weird

[name]Wynn[/name]: Casino in [name]Vegas[/name]

[name]Scarlett[/name], [name]Sylvie[/name], [name]Hazel[/name], [name]Tess[/name], [name]Theodora[/name] or [name]Charlotte[/name] are good choices.

[name]Lux[/name]: Sounds conceited to me. Like it’s a nickname for Luxury… Not very good.
[name]Micah[/name]: It’s a boy’s name. So, I’d definitely think [name]Micah[/name] and [name]Gabe[/name] are brothers.
[name]Olive[/name]: I actually quite like [name]Olive[/name], I think it’s cute and quirky. But, while [name]Gabe[/name] is pretty quirky too, they feel too different to me.
[name]Sawyer[/name]: Another boy’s name. All I can think of is [name]Tom[/name] [name]Sawyer[/name].
[name]Scarlett[/name]: I adore the name [name]Scarlett[/name]. I actually think [name]Gabe[/name] and [name]Scarlett[/name] could work quite well together.
[name]Sylvie[/name]: I’ve never been a fan of this. I always think of Tweety and [name]Sylvester[/name], plus I don’t care for the sound of it.
[name]Hazel[/name]: I adore the name [name]Hazel[/name], but I’m not sure how well it works with [name]Gabe[/name]…
[name]Tess[/name]: I love [name]Tess[/name]! [name]Tess[/name] and [name]Gabe[/name] sound good together, because they can both be nicknames but they stand on their own just fine.
[name]Theodora[/name] ("[name]Teddy[/name]"): I’d think [name]Teddy[/name] and [name]Gabe[/name] are brothers… Plus, [name]Theodora[/name] feels like too much name with [name]Gabe[/name], and they’re very different stylistically.
[name]Jinx[/name]: I second whitman and phoebesmom. It sounds like the name of a stripper or a cat, of which I’ve known 3 names [name]Jinx[/name] (cats, not strippers).
[name]Willa[/name]: I love [name]Willa[/name]. I think it’s cute and goes pretty well [name]Gabe[/name].
[name]Judah[/name]: Very Biblical boy’s name. I would not use it for a girl with [name]Gabe[/name].
[name]Charlotte[/name]: I love [name]Charlotte[/name], but it doesn’t feel quite as spunky as [name]Gabe[/name].
[name]Wylie[/name]: I agree with freckles, it sounds like [name]Riley[/name] with a speech impediment.
[name]Wynn[/name]: I don’t like it. It sounds a little conceited like [name]Lux[/name] to me. [name]Brynn[/name] would be cute.

With [name]Gabe[/name], my favorites are: [name]Tess[/name] and [name]Scarlett[/name]

[name]Hi[/name]!

With a brother named [name]Gabe[/name] - a Biblical name with a lot of history and a definitely masculine feel - I don’t think a modern, unisex name is the way to go. Thus, I think names like [name]Wylie[/name] and [name]Sawyer[/name] need to go. [name]Even[/name] more so, traditional Biblical boy’s names like [name]Judah[/name] and [name]Micah[/name] just won’t make sense on a girl in a family that already has used one Biblical boy’s name! Those need to go, too, even more than [name]Wylie[/name] and [name]Sawyer[/name]. I love [name]Micah[/name], but save it for a future boy, I think. Then you’ve got these modern-sounding word names, [name]Lux[/name] and [name]Jinx[/name], that don’t make sense to me with the traditional [name]Gabe[/name]. Especially [name]Jinx[/name] - that’s way too much of a word! The last name I’d eliminate is [name]Theodora[/name], as I think it is too much name in general, but especially with the comfortable and relatively casual [name]Gabe[/name].

That leaves you with [name]Olive[/name], [name]Scarlett[/name], [name]Sylvie[/name], [name]Hazel[/name], [name]Tess[/name], [name]Willa[/name], [name]Charlotte[/name], and [name]Wynn/name. I think [name]Wynn/name would make a nice middle name, but it feels a little bit insubstantial as a first name, in my opinion. Classics like [name]Hazel[/name], [name]Charlotte[/name], and [name]Tess[/name] are all great with [name]Gabe[/name] - I prefer [name]Charlotte[/name] and [name]Tess[/name] because [name]Hazel[/name] has the same vowel sound as [name]Gabe[/name]. I quite like [name]Gabe[/name] and [name]Tess[/name], honestly, because both are short and sweet yet they pack a punch! I’m not sold on [name]Olive[/name] or [name]Sylvie[/name] - both are sweet, but they might be too unique next to [name]Gabe[/name]. I think [name]Scarlett[/name] and [name]Willa[/name] are both good options, but [name]Willa[/name] is just wonderful with a brother called [name]Gabe[/name]!

So, I’d choose between [name]Tess[/name], [name]Charlotte[/name], and [name]Willa[/name]. All three are great names and they work well with [name]Gabe[/name], in my opinion. Good luck!
