Impressions of Valerie

What do you think of the name [name_f]Valerie[/name_f]? [name_f]Do[/name_f] you associate it with a particular era? [name_f]Do[/name_f] you think it’s a viable choice for a 2015 baby?

I confess I like it very, very much, but it sounds 80’s to me. I was surprised to learn it was actually most popular in the 40’s, and has never been particularly popular, in fact, one of my Nameberry books (The Last Word on First Names, I think) says it’s not tied to a particular era! Anyway, so I’m curious what you nameberries think.

What other “V” names do you like for girls?

I like [name_f]Valerie[/name_f]. It doesn’t sound particularly 80’s to me, like [name_f]Tiffany[/name_f] or anything. As for other V’s……I’ve always liked [name_f]Victoria[/name_f]. Very regal, very classic.

[name_f]Valerie[/name_f] is very grandmotherly to me. [name_f]Vivienne[/name_f], [name_f]Victoria[/name_f], [name_f]Viviana[/name_f], or [name_f]Viveca[/name_f] would be better choices for a baby born in 2015.

As a [name_f]Valeria[/name_f] I guess I can’t say much about this, haha. [name_f]Valerie[/name_f] isn’t so much tied to a single age group for me actually, I know a [name_f]Valerie[/name_f] who is in her thirties and another one who is about fourteen/fifteen I think.

[name_f]My[/name_f] favorite V names are [name_f]Violetta[/name_f], [name_u]Vivian[/name_u] and [name_f]Vera[/name_f]. And it’s a bit of a guilty pleasure, but I kind of like [name_f]Vanessa[/name_f].

I know a few [name_f]Valerie[/name_f]'s, some who already have children, another who is only a teenager. I think it’s a pretty name. Though I may be biased by a friend! But I like [name_f]Vivienne[/name_f] too.

I love [name_f]Valerie[/name_f]. I think it’s a beautiful, timeless, strong name with a great meaning and a gorgeous sound. I don’t know why [name_f]Valerie[/name_f] doesn’t get more love on NB, honestly.

I [name_u]LOVE[/name_u] [name_f]Valerie[/name_f]! I have a younger cousin (teenager) whose name is [name_f]Valerie[/name_f] and I’ve always thought it was a gorgeous name. I would find it refreshing to meet a baby named [name_f]Valerie[/name_f].

I think [name_f]Valerie[/name_f] is absolutely gorgeous, but I’m biased, it’s my grandmother’s name, and my mother’s middle name, and I’m incredibly close to my grandmother. It’s not dated at all to be honest. I also like [name_f]Vera[/name_f], [name_f]Violet[/name_f] and [name_f]Viola[/name_f]

I like name and it has a great flow. It’s just out of fashion, not necessarily that its part of an old era. Names like [name_f]Sharon[/name_f], [name_f]Ramona[/name_f], [name_f]Eileen[/name_f], and [name_f]Valerie[/name_f] are not all the rage right now. But I LIKE that. You picked a beautiful, simple, timeless name that isn’t from the Victorian era. Wonderful!

Used to be a favourite of mine. I still like [name_f]Valerie[/name_f] though. It’s such a pretty name and I never associate it with any age groups.

I love a lot of V names.
Favourite Vs: [name_f]Violetta[/name_f], [name_f]Violette[/name_f], [name_f]Valentina[/name_f], [name_f]Valencia[/name_f], [name_f]Vanessa[/name_f], [name_f]Veronica[/name_f], [name_f]Victoria[/name_f].
Runner ups: [name_f]Vivienne[/name_f], [name_f]Verona[/name_f], [name_f]Vienna[/name_f], [name_f]Vincentia[/name_f], [name_f]Vincenza[/name_f], Vasthi.

I love the name [name_f]Valerie[/name_f] for a girl. I’ve loved it since I first heard it when I was 9. It’s always felt like such a beautiful feminine name and I don’t feel like it belongs in a certain era or decade. It’s a name that feels timeless. I also like the name [name_u]Vivian[/name_u] and I like [name_f]Victoria[/name_f] as a middle name.

It’s my grandmother’s name, and honestly, I adore it. When I was younger, I was absolutely determined to name my future daughter [name_f]Valerie[/name_f].

I don’t really understand why it isn’t more popular or liked on NB. It fits the criteria of old fashioned grandma names that are so popular and loved on here.

[name_u]Love[/name_u] the name [name_f]Valerie[/name_f]! I don’t think it’s tied to a particular era. I know four Valeries! From oldest to youngest -late 30’s, late 20’s, 15 and 2! I have a 2 year old daughter named [name_f]Vanessa[/name_f]. I also love [name_f]Violet[/name_f], [name_f]Vivienne[/name_f] and [name_f]Victoria[/name_f].
