In honor of a Weber

Coming up with names for baby boy, sister is Anna.

I feel bad because so far I have figured out ways to honor most of the family members we want to. Anna is named simultaneously for my MIL Susanna and my mom Nancy, and her middle name is my grandma Dorothy… My FIL already has a son with his own name so I don’t need to worry about him. And my dad hates his name anyway so I’m not sure I wanna go near that ”.

One I cannot figure out is my husband’s grandpa, his FAVORITE person. Id love to at least have a name on our list for him. We cannot use his first name, Roy, because our boy’s full name would be the name of a fast food chain exclusively at highway rest stops in my area. So I thought maybe we could use his last name, Webber. He had no middle name.

Unfortunately, I have no idea what names could possibly honor this. It means Weaver and is a German name. Webber itself is not my style and would definitely run into our last name very weirdly (as would most names ending in R). Any ideas?

Maybe you could use Walter? It sounds similar to Webber, fits well with Anna and it’s also German. You could also use Rhett because it sounds similar to Webb and avoids the alliteration with your last name.

I don’t know as there’s much to do with [name_m]Weber[/name_m]/[name_m]Webber[/name_m] that isn’t the name itself… the only ones I can conjure are [name_m]Eben[/name_m] & [name_m]Bertram[/name_m], for the [name_m]EB[/name_m] and BER sounds in the surname.

What about using a variation/extension on [name_u]Roy[/name_u], perhaps just the [name_f]Ro[/name_f]- beginning, rather than the name itself, something like [name_u]Rory[/name_u], [name_m]Ronan[/name_m], [name_m]Roland[/name_m] or [name_u]Robin[/name_u]?

[name_u]Roy[/name_u] means king or red haired which could give you the options of:

[name_u]Kingsley[/name_u]
[name_u]Rory[/name_u] (red king/red haired king)
[name_u]Rian[/name_u] (little king)
[name_u]Rex[/name_u] (king)

I would suggest [name_m]Webster[/name_m] for [name_m]Webber[/name_m] but that might not work with your surname either

[name_m]Webb[/name_m] as a middle maybe? [name_u]Winn[/name_u]/[name_u]Wynn[/name_u]? [name_m]Wesley[/name_m]? [name_m]Wilbert[/name_m]? [name_m]Robert[/name_m] or [name_u]Robin[/name_u]//[name_f]Robyn[/name_f] (combining elements of [name_m]Webber[/name_m] and [name_u]Roy[/name_u])

What about [name_u]Royce[/name_u] instead of [name_u]Roy[/name_u]?

How about [name_m]Koray[/name_m]? It means ember moon. More so, it holds all the letters of [name_u]Roy[/name_u] and doesn’t end in R.

I particularly like the suggestions you’ve gotten that lean into the etymology of [name_u]Roy[/name_u] itself. Names sharing the meaning “red” or “king” would work great. I’d also suggest Orman or [name_m]Ormond[/name_m], which essentially mean “son of [name_u]Roy[/name_u]” (literally “son of Ruadh”; Ruadh being the root of the name [name_u]Roy[/name_u]).

The only other thing I could come up with was to remix all the letters of [name_u]Roy[/name_u] [name_m]Webber[/name_m] into Bowery (nn [name_u]Bo[/name_u] or [name_m]Bowie[/name_m]), but I worry that might be a bit too offbeat for your taste (based on [name_f]Anna[/name_f] [name_f]Dorothy[/name_f]), and I’m still not sure it works with your last name.

My first thought is [name_u]Rowan[/name_u] which kind of ties in [name_u]Roy[/name_u] and [name_m]Webber[/name_m].

I also think [name_m]Webster[/name_m] is cute but has the “er” ending which might not work for you.

Yes I think [name_u]Rowan[/name_u], tying together [name_u]Roy[/name_u] and [name_m]Webber[/name_m] sounds like such a great idea!
