Indirectly Space Themed?

I’m looking for a semi-specific type of names for a set of characters. They only need first names, not middles, or lasts. [name_m]The[/name_m] style being … vaguely space themed, but not really?

[name_f][/name_f]

[name_m]The[/name_m] only two I have, and can use as an example are [name_f]Lux[/name_f] and [name_m]Stellan[/name_m]. [name_f]Lux[/name_f], meaning light, like a sun, or star, but it’s not directly space inspired. [name_m]Stellan[/name_m], which I believe actually means peace, but has the name [name_f]Stella[/name_f] in it, so it feels space related.

[name_f][/name_f]

I just don’t want the obvious [name_f]Aurora[/name_f], [name_f]Nova[/name_f], [name_m]Void[/name_m]. I don’t want names of planets, or stars, or galaxies, so no [name_m]Jupiter[/name_m], or [name_m]Saturn[/name_m]. Both male and female names are welcome.

[name_f]Lyra[/name_f], [name_f]Vega[/name_f], [name_f]Juno[/name_f], [name_f]Io[/name_f]? [name_f]Any[/name_f] constellation name (especially one like [name_f]Lyra[/name_f], with other reference points) could be fun!

I agree with @snowmaiden[name_f][/name_f] that constellation names could work well.

This is a tough—but fun—request!

I am not sure whether or not this is for the same story as last time, so my apologies if these do not fit with the names of your cast. :sweat_smile:

  • [name_f]Pasiphaë[/name_f] → has a lovely, star-adjacent meaning: “shining for all”.

  • [name_m]Calistaro[/name_m] or [name_f]Ostara[/name_f] → both contain the word star.

  • [name_f]Marisoleil[/name_f] or [name_f]Marilune[/name_f] → inspired by the Sun and Moon respectively, but with a grounding(?) similarity to other Marian names.

  • [name_f]Galatea[/name_f] → gala, in addition to being reminiscent of the word galaxy, means “milk” (as in the Milky Way).

  • [name_m]Heliodor[/name_m] → means “gift of the sun”, but is also the name of a gemstone.

  • [name_f]Carina[/name_f] → as in the Carina Nebula!

    • or [name_f]Rosette[/name_f], as in the Rosette Nebula?

  • [name_m]Cosmas[/name_m], [name_m]Cosmo[/name_m], [name_m]Cosmin[/name_m], [name_f]Cosmina[/name_m], [name_f]Cosima[/name_m], [name_m]Cosmael[/name_m], [name_m]Cosimo[/name_m], or [name_u]Cosma[/name_u] → these all stem from a word that means “universe” and are highly similar to the word cosmos, but not quite as literal.

I’m not sure when/where your story is set, but maybe look at famous astronauts!
