Inez Spelling Variations

In my history class, we recently watched Iron Jawed Angels, the movie about the National Women’s Party. After hearing [name_f]Inez[/name_f] Milholland’s name, I fell in love with it lol. I also love how much of a figure [name_f]Inez[/name_f] was in the suffrage movement, so it is easily becoming one of my favorite names at the moment.

However, I found at there are several variations of the name: [name_f]Inez[/name_f], [name_f]Ines[/name_f], [name_f]Ynez[/name_f], [name_f]Ynes[/name_f]. After seeing the other ones, [name_f]Inez[/name_f] kind of looks like a misspelling to me? [name_f]Ynes[/name_f] looks more complete… What do you guys think? What is your preferred variation?

I like [name_f]Ines[/name_f] best. [name_f]Inez[/name_f] and [name_f]Ynes[/name_f] are nice too.

[name_m]How[/name_m] are you pronouncing it? eye-NEZ or ee-NESS (or something else)?

If you’re aiming for eye-NEZ I’d recommend the spelling [name_f]Inez[/name_f], but if it’s ee-NESS I’d recommend [name_f]Ines[/name_f].

Well, in portuguese, [name_f]Ines[/name_f] (actually, Inês, but [name_f]Ines[/name_f] will do) is the correct version. To me, [name_f]Inez[/name_f] and [name_f]Ynes[/name_f] look misspelled, especially [name_f]Ynes[/name_f].

[name_f]Inez[/name_f] is my preferred spelling, closely followed by [name_f]Ines[/name_f]. The others just look misspelled to me.

I like [name_f]Ines[/name_f] the most, though I also like [name_f]Inez[/name_f]. I don’t like [name_f]Ynes[/name_f]/z.

My cousin is called [name_f]Ines[/name_f] and its my favourite spelling. It’s pronounced In-ez and I think [name_f]Ines[/name_f] is the traditional spelling.

I prefer [name_f]Ines[/name_f] with a soft S. I say “EEE-ness” when spelled [name_f]Ines[/name_f]. I say “Eh-nezz” when spelled [name_f]Inez[/name_f]. You can probably say it either way for either spelling.

I prefer [name_f]Ines[/name_f]. [name_f]Inez[/name_f] looks rather harsh to me.

My [name_m]SIL[/name_m] is named [name_f]Ines[/name_f]. We pronounce it with a soft “s.”

I am inclined to prefer this spelling, because it looks prettier to me, but for pronunciation purposes I think [name_f]Inez[/name_f] paints a clearer picture.

I’m half-Brazilian, so [name_f]Ines[/name_f] looks the most proper to me. No one in [name_u]Brazil[/name_u] uses [name_f]Ynez[/name_f]/s

[name_f]Ynes[/name_f] and [name_f]Ynez[/name_f] are wrong. They are made-up spellings.

[name_f]Ines[/name_f] is the original spelling.

I really like [name_f]Ines[/name_f] and honestly have never seen a Y version before.
The Y looks odd to me and really does feel misspelled. I personally prefer the s to the z because it seems more authentic to the names origins but also because it looks and feels softer to me.

[name_f]My[/name_f] favourite spelling is [name_f]Inez[/name_f].

[name_f]Ines[/name_f] is the only spelling I know. It’s getting quite popular where I’m from. I personally know of 6 [name_f]Ines[/name_f]'s all with that spelling.

This name is at the top of my list but I REALLY want to avoid something super popular. [name_f]Do[/name_f] you mind me asking where you’re from?

I prefer [name_f]Inez[/name_f] and my second choice would be [name_f]Ines[/name_f]. I can’t get used to seeing it starting with a Y.
