I really like initial names for boys, but I can be picky about which initials are being used and in what order. However it’s always interesting to me when I come across some of the less common ones.
Whether you want to first consider what the initials stand for, or just go by how the letter combo sounds together, hypothetically what initial name would you give your child?
And 2, what initial names have you heard of in the wild before that have stuck with you? I’ll go first:
Have known a:
C.J.
C.T.
C.B.
D.B.
E.R.
J.R. (Our first choice for a sons name)
P.J.
T.J.
K.J.
R.K.
T.K.
I think RJ and LJ are really cool. [name_f]My[/name_f] son’s initials are MJ and while we don’t call him that he could choose to go by that in the future. I like all the ones with a J middle name basically.
CJ (x2)
JJ (J3ffrey Ja.mes)
TJ
CR (one name was Christopher)
GH (this was in a book)
PJ (my guinea pig technically short for Pyjamas but I think [name_m]Percy[/name_m] [name_m]Jem[/name_m], [name_m]Percy[/name_m] [name_m]Jeremiah[/name_m], or [name_m]Perry[/name_m] [name_m]Jameson[/name_m] could have suited him)
[name_f]My[/name_f] favourites are: PJ, CJ, AJ, KC, and SJ. I like those J sounds apparently - not sure I’d use one personally though as PJ is the one I really like and that was already used!
I know a lot (a few of these are actually women/girls & NBs I know, but initials work for everyone imo):
AJ
JJ
PJ
MJ
DJ
BJ
DD
TA
MK
LJ
CE
RJ
KJ
LB
CB
CJ
ZC
PD
[name_f]My[/name_f] favourites by far are CE and PJ, but I love the idea of ZJ too.
I’ve known an AJ, JT & DJ… my brother’s initials are TJ but we don’t call him that. [name_f]My[/name_f] favorite initials would probably be PJ or ZJ… or maybe JC?
I’ve known a couple AJs, a JJ, an EJ, a JT, a JD, a VJ, a BJ… I’m not fond of most of them tbh; unless it leads to a nn I’m already fond of (like M.E./Emmy), it just feels like taking a beautiful name and minimizing it to a couple letters… or specifically choosing two names that I like to a lesser degree to get me to a nn I want. I do sort of like KJ, MJ, and EJ occasionally but don’t think I’d ever get to the point where I’d ever use them because I’d want to use the full first name more, personally. But I know some people love it… it’s just not for me.
