There was J.T. on the TV show “Step by Step,” and we’ve all known AJs and BJs and CJs. But if a boy has the initials D.J., do you think it would be weird to call him D.J. as his nickname, because of radio disc jockeys? Is DJ too much of a career to be a name?
I don’t see why you couldn’t use DJ. I’ve heard it a few times before, but I do admit, I like the sound of JJ and EJ more than DJ…
DJ is fairly popular here in[name]Ireland[/name]. There was a famous sports player named DJ, I think it works fine.
I think DJ would work just fine. We call my husband [name]JR[/name] because he is a junior. He only goes by his first name at work.
DJ was what the girl went by in the show Full House if anyone remembers that, I think it works. I automatically think of her and not the disk jockey actually.
I have a cousin who goes by DJ. I don’t actually know what his name is because he’s never gone by anything else. Also, I have 2 [name]Dylan[/name]'s in my group so I’ve started calling one DJ because of his initials and he loves it. So no, I don’t think it’s weird
I’m not keen on initials as nicknames, so actually the fact that DJ has a real-world meaning is a positive!
My younger brother’s best friend growing up was called DJ - short for [name]Douglas[/name] [name]James[/name]. Because of this, I think of DJ as a legit nn.
My brother goes by J.P.
I know a JP and he is doll! I also know an AJ, PJ, CC and BB, initials as NNs is really popular here I guess LOL! When I hear DJ I think of DJ [name]Tanner[/name] from Full House before Disc Jockey so I think it works just fine. BJ is really the only one that I would warn against using.
I had an uncle who went by DJ, and I never even thought of the association with disc jockey. I think it’s fine.
My brother goes by EC… [name]Edward[/name] [name]Crain[/name].
I have JB on my list to stand for [name]Jacob[/name] [name]Byron[/name].
Oh and btw,
DJ was the oldest daughter on full house… I get that association when I hear it.
