Our last name begins with a U…
What do you think of us using [name_m]Frederic[/name_m] as a middle name?
Is F.U too much or can we get away with it given it is not a first initial?
Honest opinions appreciated

If you really love it, you could get away with it, but I’d still suggest looking for another option that you could love, too. Or add a second middle, so his initials would be, for example, CFGU.
I would not use an F name as a first or a middle…I’m sorry! What about an alternative like Diedrich or [name_m]Kendrick[/name_m] or [name_m]Merrick[/name_m]?
It’s fine as a middle name. His initials won’t be FU with a first name tacked on. Besides, I think it sends a strong “don’t mess with me” vibe.
I wouldn’t worry about it. Tack any first initial on (AFU, GFU, MFU) and I can’t see anyone noticing or caring about the fact that the last two initials together are FU. Plus, I’ve never encountered many instances where I have to use my initials in the first place!
As long as there is another name, then no problem.
That’s cruel!!
In the middle spot, I think it’s fine, and not really noticeable. If you are still concerned about it though, I like @dewdropsandroses suggestion of using a second middle.
I think its totally fine as a middle name
Since it’s not the first initial, I think it will be fine.
It’s not remotely noticeable in the middle spot, unless he went exclusively by his middle name. [name_m]Even[/name_m] then, it’s unlikely to be a big deal.
I don’t even understand what’s wrong with FU to be honest
I believe that F in the middle is fine. Under normal conditions, the middle initial will not be used apart from the first initial. So the first and last initial hold more weight. I would just avoid E for the first initial to avoid EFU. Other than that, I say you’re fine.
I don’t think it’d be a big deal to have someone’s initials be _FU (e.g. SFU, WFU, LFU). Most people don’t know or don’t notice others’ middle names anyway.
It’s shorthand slang for f*** you.
I think that’s fine! The middle name and surname will probably never be used alone.
I’d say totally fine! No one uses just their middle and last initials so the FU won’t even stand out. When using initials he would either used First, Middle, Last (ex. [name_m]Charles[/name_m] [name_m]Frederick[/name_m] Unger - CFU) or monogram style first, Last, Middle (ex. cUf) or just First and Last (CU). I wouldn’t use an F as a first but middle would be fine!
