Interested in YOUR favorite girls names!

[name]Just[/name] to echo everyone else, [name]Violet[/name] is a nice name, but it is becoming popular, so it’s not as uncommon as you think! I also like [name]Serena[/name] and [name]Magnolia[/name].

My Favorites:

[name]Luna[/name] - I love the connection to my name, [name]Diana[/name], and the thought of a “[name]Little[/name] [name]Luna[/name]” is just adorable. I also like names where I can provide a Chinese nickname, which would be Xiao [name]Yue[/name] ([name]Little[/name] [name]Moon[/name])

[name]Flora[/name] - I like short and sweet names, obviously, and this one is just so classic and sweet. Also another easy Chinese nickname: Xiao Hua (little flower)

[name]Euphemia[/name] - This one is just super sweet sounding, it really doesn’t fit in with my other favorites, but I still adore it. I love the nickname [name]Euphie[/name].

[name]Caroline[/name] - Another one that doesn’t fit in, but it grew on me after watching 2 Broke Girls. I just love the sound.

[name]Artemis[/name] - Another name I like due to the connection to my name. She’s also my favorite goddess. I think [name]Missy[/name] could be a cute nickname

I really like your favorites, [name]Serena[/name] in particular.

My favorites:

[name]Zoe[/name]- I’ve loved this name a very long time. It took just as long a time to convince the fiance but he came around. I love the meaning, I love the sound… The image I have in my head is a little girl running down a hill, laughing, with wild curly hair streaming behind her. It’s crazy, I know, but that’s what I see when I say the name.

Noemí- It’s my fiance’s favorite, but I’ve grown to love it too. It reminds me of a favorite blanket or sweatshirt… comfortable, warm and peaceful. It makes me happy. Lately I’ve been contemplating using [name]Zoe[/name] and Noemí together… [name]Zoe[/name] Noemí

[name]Elinor[/name]- I love the way it sounds, I love the history, and I love how elegant it looks.

[name]Cassandra[/name]- it’s sassy and spunky

[name]Alina[/name]- every [name]Alina[/name] I’ve known has been a beautiful person inside and out so I feel like I could give that to a future daughter.

[name]Anastasia[/name]- the meaning is my favorite.

I have a few outliers- [name]Cecilia[/name], [name]Luc[/name]ía, [name]Ophelia[/name], [name]Elizabeth[/name] and [name]Catherine[/name].

[name]Fiona[/name]- Beautiful name! I also adore the nn Fi/[name]Fifi[/name]. Also, the alliteration with the last name is not a problem, so long as you don’t use another name that starts with “F” in the middle.
[name]Ivy[/name]- Timeless. [name]Ivy[/name] [name]Annabelle[/name] sounds lovely.
[name]Violet[/name]- [name]Love[/name] it. [name]Vi[/name] is also a cute nn.
[name]Susanna[/name]- Feminine and pretty. I prefer [name]Susannah[/name] though.
[name]Maya[/name]- Although I also pronounce this name as my-uh, I can see how others would pronounce the name as may-uh.
[name]Serena[/name]- I agree completely! I still love [name]Sabrina[/name] as well though.

Wonderful list! Here’s my list:
[name]Amelia[/name]: I love the name [name]Emily[/name], but [name]Amelia[/name] is a wonderful alternative.
[name]Beatrice[/name] “[name]Trixie[/name]”: I adore the nn and the meaning: ‘Blessed, brings happiness’
[name]Daphne[/name] “[name]Daffodil[/name]/[name]Effie[/name]”
[name]Diana[/name]: Meaning: ‘[name]Divine[/name]’
[name]Matilda[/name] “[name]Mattie[/name]/[name]Tilly[/name]”
[name]Naomi[/name]: Meaning: ‘My joy, delight’
[name]Nora[/name]: Family name.
[name]Phoebe[/name] “Feebs”: Meaning: ‘Radiant, shining one’. The problem is that I also love the name [name]Holden[/name] for a boy, and I don’t want to copy the characters’ names from Catcher in the [name]Rye[/name]!
[name]Vera[/name]: Meaning: ‘[name]Faith[/name]; truth’.

Timeless/Popular names (that I would most likely use for middles): [name]Anna[/name], [name]Charlotte[/name], [name]Elizabeth[/name], [name]Jane[/name], [name]Victoria[/name]

I just had a [name]Phoebe[/name] [name]Amaryllis[/name] but if I had heard [name]Delphine[/name] before she was born, that’s what her name would be now:)

[name]Love[/name] your top girl names, especially [name]Fiona[/name] and [name]Ivy[/name].

My favorite girl names would have to be (in no particular order)

[name]Clara[/name]: I love this name, and it’s association with the Nutcracker. I did ballet as a little girl and loved it. [name]Clara[/name] sounds charming and beautiful to me and would age well on a little girl imo.

[name]Daphne[/name]: This name is pretty awesome to me as well, it’s very pretty and not very common (especially where I am from). I think it is feminine and pretty.

[name]Eleanor[/name]: [name]Love[/name] this name, I feel it’s elegant and classic. Plus has great nn potential.

[name]Ivy[/name]: To me this is classic, simple, and stunning. Easy to spell, easy to say and brings in my mind a very pretty and sweet lady.

[name]Violet[/name]: I know one of the sweetest ladies with this name, so to me it is beautiful and reminds me of a woman who has a wonderful heart!

[name]Moira[/name]: This is one of my favorite names, unfortunately for me it’ll never get used as a baby name b/c DH thinks it’s weird and “made up”, which it isn’t, but whatever. I think it’s stunning and underused and it was [name]Wendy[/name] from [name]Peter[/name] [name]Pan[/name]'s middle name, loved [name]Peter[/name] [name]Pan[/name] growing up.

[name]Merida[/name]: This name is a newer favorite of mine, it’s spunky, sassy, and pretty all at once!

You’ve got a nice list, I especially like [name]Maia[/name] and [name]Serena[/name].

My favourites & why I love them:
[name]Alcyone[/name] - It makes me think of very calm azure seas, the smells and feelings of being by the seaside in [name]Italy[/name] in [name]Summer[/name]. And I love the beautiful painting by [name]Herbert[/name] [name]John[/name] [name]Draper[/name], kingfishers and the beautiful story.
[name]Atalanta[/name] - I get a feeling of breeze and needing to hold on to your dress so it doesn’t blow off. Warmth and laughter and rushing through meadows. I love nickname [name]Attie[/name].
Gwenllian - I’m a sucker for [name]Gwen[/name]-names, and this is my favourite of them. Gwenllian was a Welsh princess who led an army in battle. Badass namesake (I love names tied to history or mythology). It means flood and it’s such a cute name.
Hespera - Sounds like a warm evening whisper. A nymph in Greek mythology, [name]Tennyson[/name] has a poem about her and [name]Frederick[/name] [name]Lord[/name] [name]Leighton[/name] a beautiful painting.
Liriope - Another nymph. It rolls of the tongue and makes me incredibly happy to say. I have to smile when I say it.
Lyonesse - So romantic! I love to say it, and the lion-connection. It’s also featured in the Arthurian legends as the land [name]Tristan[/name] came from (which sank under the sea) and the name of [name]Gareth[/name]'s beautiful wife.
Melpomene - It means celebrate with song! Nickname [name]Pom[/name]! A muse! And it’s fun to say.
[name]Morgana[/name] - Beautiful, dark and stormy, romantic and still sweet. And the enchantress…
Niniane - It’s simply hauntingly beautiful. It’s the name of the lady of the lake and it’s another one I just love to say. And my boyfriend loves it.
Polyhymnia - Another muse, and nickname [name]Polly[/name]! [name]How[/name] cute is that?
[name]Roxana[/name] - I love that this name sounds as if it’s dripping with gold and rubies, and a smell of roses and jasmine. Cute nickname [name]Roxy[/name].
[name]Zenobia[/name] - Sweet, spunky and stunningly beautiful. Historical ties, literary ties, Cornish ties. And it’s fun to say. And it starts with a Z.

nkethdy – [name]Love[/name] [name]Nora[/name] and [name]Daphne[/name]!

My Favorites:

[name]Severine[/name] – my top name right now. having a difficult time getting others to warm up to it though!
[name]Louise[/name]/[name]Louisa[/name]
[name]Ellery[/name]
[name]Eliza[/name]
[name]Azure[/name]
[name]Evan[/name] – love guy names that are spunky on a girl too!

From your list I like:
Fiona- one of my favorite names, at the top of our list
Violet- very sweet
Susannah- prefer this spelling, love this name but my fiancé has a crazy aunt and cousin named Susan and Suzanne so we can’t use it:(

My entire list is in my signature butmy favorites right now are:

Fiona- this has been a favorite of mine for awhile, I love that it is sweet, yet spunky. My fiancé always refers to our future “daughter” as little Fiona (or little Asher for a boy)
Naomi- my fiancé’s suggestion but I have grown to love it. I love that is shares almost all the same letters in Fiona but has a completely different sound
Eleanor- when I worked at a daycare we had the sweetest, happiest little girl named Elinor and I feel in love with the name. Plus I love the nickname options from Elle to Nora
Eva- I love the sweet simplicity of Eva but that it still has nickname options
Alice- I love the connection to Alice in Wonderland and I think it’s a pretty, classic name
Gwyneth- I have always loved “Gwen” but I love the elegance of Gwyneth. Gwen is spunky and Gwyneth is sweet, I really like it as a sister to Fiona
Paloma- this is a new addition to my favorites. I’m not sure exactly what it is about this name but I just thinks a cool and pretty name. I would use the nn Paz to reference it’s meaning and our last name starts with Z

Now to only have 7 girls to use all the names!!

All your names are lovely, but I particularly like [name]Serena[/name], [name]Fiona[/name], and [name]Violet[/name]!

My favorites:

[name]Zoe[/name] - My favorite girls’ name [name]EVER[/name]. I’m devastated that DH has vetoed it. I love that it means “life” and Z is is my second favorite letter in the alphabet. I also think it’s spunky and elegant at the same time.

[name]Catherine[/name] - This is our top pick for a daughter, which I love almost as much as [name]Zoe[/name]. I kind of inherited my love of the name from my mother, who wanted to use it for my younger sister, but unfortunately, Dad vetoed it. I think she would love having a granddaughter named [name]Catherine[/name], though, and we would use the nickname [name]Cate[/name], which was my paternal grandmother’s maiden name. (Although I also love a lot of the other [name]Catherine[/name] nicknames, too!)

[name]Veronica[/name] - I mentioned Z was my second favorite letter – well, V is my favorite! I love almost all the V names, but [name]Veronica[/name] has always been at the top of the list. In fact, I chose it as my confirmation name, since I really like the story of St. [name]Veronica[/name]. I also just adore the elegant sound of the name, especially the “nic” part, which also appears in my favorite boys’ name, [name]Nicholas[/name] (which DH vetoed as well – boo!).

[name]Penelope[/name] - I have a thing for Greek names ending with “e”, and this is probably one of the most fun to say. It just sounds so happy and cheerful, doesn’t it? Especially with the poppy “P” sounds. I also admire the mythological [name]Penelope[/name] for her faithfulness and cleverness.

[name]Elizabeth[/name] - Our choice for a second daughter. [name]How[/name] can anybody not love [name]Elizabeth[/name]? She’s classic and beautiful and has a ton of wonderful nicknames. I like the idea of calling her [name]Beth[/name], because my nickname [name]Meg[/name] came from [name]Little[/name] Women, so it would be neat if she had a LW-inspired nickname as well.

[name]Daphne[/name] - Again, another Greek name that ends with “e” – I told you I adored them! The story of [name]Daphne[/name] was one of my favorite Greek myths – I even wrote a play about her for a school project – and I like that it means “laurel”, giving it a subtle connection to [name]Laura[/name], my sister’s name. The “ph” is really cool, too.

[name]Anastasia[/name] - Gorgeous, just gorgeous! It was my great-grandmother’s name, but for some crazy reason, she hated it and preferred to be called [name]Nancy[/name]. (Outrageous, right?) I love the meaning of “resurrection”.

[name]Seraphina[/name] - Seriously one of the most beautiful names ever. It sounds so soft and angelic. (Again, loving the “ph”.)

[name]Ophelia[/name] - Yeah, she went a little crazy in [name]Hamlet[/name] – so what? It’s still a stunning name, a less popular alternative to the equally beautiful [name]Olivia[/name]. (And, yet again, “ph”.)

[name]Felicity[/name] - It means “happiness”! What better meaning is there? I love how it just rolls off the tongue. I become happier just saying the name aloud!

mega_muffin, I love your reasons for using [name]Catherine[/name]. I actually love the reasoning behind all your favorites! Your style is totally different than mine I think, but absolutely beautiful. I also know a little [name]Anastasia[/name] (born on Good Friday, mom cited the meaning as the reason she picked it over her other choice, [name]Annabella[/name]!) who is one now and just the most precious thing. It really warmed me up to the name

My favorites:
[name]Stella[/name] - it’s getting a bit popular now for my taste, but I still love it. It’s familiar-sounding but different than the [name]Ella[/name]/[name]Isabella[/name] crowd that’s running around. It’s also the surname of an artist ([name]Frank[/name] [name]Stella[/name] - I’m an art history buff) and the college I went to has a logo with a very prominent eight-pointed star, so there’s that connection.

[name]Leona[/name] - oh gosh, there is absolutely no personal meaning here whatsoever. If anything I should have bad associations with this name, but I just love it so. I think the way it sounds is gorgeous, so sing-song. And the meaning, ‘lion’, gives it a strength that I just adore. I would call her [name]Leo[/name], which I know the Berries hate, but I just can’t get over the idea of a little [name]Leo[/name] in braids and bows.

[name]Florence[/name]/[name]Flora[/name] - [name]Florence[/name] was the name of two of my great-grandmothers, so there’s definitely a family connection. It’s also the name of the city in [name]Italy[/name], which was one of two major cities for art during the Renaissance, known as the city of truth (again with the art history). [name]Flora[/name] and [name]Wren[/name] are the likely nicknames I would use, although I also like [name]Flora[/name] on its own. Plus it means ‘flourishing, prosperous’, and who doesn’t want their child to flourish?

[name]Mabel[/name] - again, there’s really no personal meaning here. I just love the way this sounds, and it’s a great long form for nicknames [name]Mae[/name] and [name]Bel/name. Meaning-wise, you can’t get much better than ‘lovable’, either.

[name]Vivian[/name] - also no personal connection, but I love its sprightly sound and the meaning, ‘lively’. She’d most likely be called [name]Viva[/name], which is another spunky, lively name.

well, I love your names! [name]Susanna[/name], [name]Fiona[/name], [name]Violet[/name], [name]Ivy[/name] and [name]Serena[/name] are beautiful! I’m not the biggest fan of [name]Maya[/name] though. my favourites are:

[name]Antonia[/name] - I love feminizations and this one is great! It’s strong, but feminine; uncommon, but recognizable for spelling and pronunciation. I would use the nn [name]Annie[/name]!
[name]Matilda[/name] - Another strong name with a feminine twist! It also has literary connections to [name]Roald[/name] Dahl’s book and the titular character. I would use the nn [name]Tillie[/name].
[name]Beatrix[/name] - classic and gorgeous, but with that strong and unexpected X ending. Also the protaganist of the [name]Trixie[/name] [name]Belden[/name] series. I wouldn also use the nn [name]Trixie[/name]!
[name]Eleanor[/name] - a lovely name with a lovely meaning, it’s also the name of my paternal grandmother and a lovely way to honour her! I would use the nn [name]Nell[/name].
[name]Margaret[/name] - another nice name, my only worry here is that it is my middle name and might be seen as a bit gratuitous. I would use the nn [name]Maggie[/name]
[name]Susannah[/name] - lovely sound, remeniscient of Southern Belles! I would use the nn [name]Susie[/name]
[name]Rosemary[/name] - I am in love with the nn [name]Romy[/name] and [name]Rosemary[/name] is the most beautiful way to get there! ([name]Romilly[/name] is not a very nice name, in my honest opinion). The only problem being that [name]Mary[/name] is my name, and if [name]Margaret[/name] is gratuitous, then what is this!

[name]Fiona[/name]- I’ve never been keen on this name if I’m honest.

[name]Ivy[/name]- [name]Ivy[/name] is such a gorgeous name.

[name]Violet[/name]- I absolutely adore this name, OH is never keen when we mention the future.

[name]Susanna[/name]- I prefer [name]Susannah[/name] but I’m not keen on it either, sorry!

[name]Maya[/name]- I agree that it will be mispronounced, [name]Mya[/name] could be an alternative spelling?

[name]Serena[/name]- I don’t like this one either.

My favorites:

[name]Lottie[/name] - I’ve loved this name for a while but lately I seem to be going off it but I’m not sure why. I like it as it’s a little old fashioned but still a little edgy as it’s usually a nickname.
[name]Imogen[/name] - Old fashioned and absolutely gorgeous, OH often mentions how much he likes this name and I adore it too.
[name]Annabelle[/name] - This name has grown on me lately and it’s now one of my favourites I like it as a middle name and first name.
[name]Laila[/name] - I just like the way it sounds and the spelling looks a lot nicer than [name]Layla[/name] in my opinion.
[name]Isabelle[/name] - Despite it’s popularity I adore this name although I’d rather use it as a middle name.

Whenever OH has spoke about having children in the future he mentions the middle name [name]Rose[/name] to honour his grandma which would go with any of the names and I adore [name]Wren[/name] as a middle name.

[name]Fiona[/name] - I like [name]Fiona[/name], but I don’t love it. I don’t like the Shrek association very much and it actually kind of ruined the name for me.

[name]Ivy[/name] [name]Annabel[/name] is lovely! I really like [name]Ivy[/name]. I love nature names and seasonal names and this one is an underused gem! I am not normally a fan of any “[name]Anne[/name]/[name]Anna[/name]” type names because of a bad association, and [name]Annabel[/name] isn’t my cup of tea at all to begin with. But [name]Ivy[/name] Annebel flows nicely and is a great combo. I prefer the [name]Annabel[/name] spelling.

[name]Violet[/name] - I love [name]Violet[/name]. I love underused flower names, and V names seem particularly appealing to me lately.

[name]Susanna[/name] - I am not ready for the [name]Sue[/name] names to make a comeback. Although [name]Susanna[/name] is definitely the loveliest of them all.

[name]Maya[/name] - All the Mayas I know don’t have issues with the pronunciation. [name]Maya[/name] is one my favorites, but it has increased in popularity quite a bit where I live (#16 in popularity in [name]Ontario[/name]), and I don’t love it enough to still consider using it. I think it is a great name though and I much much prefer it over the similarly popular [name]Mia[/name].

[name]Serena[/name] - I much prefer [name]Serenity[/name], but [name]Serena[/name] is also lovely. I love the meaning and find this name underused. I also love [name]Celina[/name]/[name]Selena[/name] which is somewhat similar in feel and sound. (I am biased, my “[name]Angel[/name] baby” is named [name]Serenity[/name], and my middle name is [name]Celina[/name] )

Here are my favourites:

[name]Cassia[/name] ~ I’ve always loved the nickname [name]Cassie[/name] because of how soft and sweet it sounds, but was a bit put off with ‘[name]Cassandra[/name]’ after I researched her Greek mythological story. I still love both [name]Cassia[/name] and [name]Cassandra[/name], but I sometimes wonder whether [name]Cassia[/name] is a bit too short compared to the well-rounded [name]Cassandra[/name]?

[name]Phoebe[/name] ~ This name has been a favourite of mine [name]FOREVER[/name]. Again, I love the soft sound the ‘ph’ creates, and I love the name’s connection to Greek mythology and the moon.

[name]Alexa[/name] ~ When [name]Alexa[/name] Chung (model and television presenter) first came on the scene, I was smitten with the name [name]Alexa[/name]. In fact, it made me become so interested in names that I’m now a complete name nerd! [name]Alexa[/name]'s what started this all off! I love that it’s Greek and has the ‘x’ in it - however I’m not too keen on the nickname [name]Lexie[/name] as it’s getting so popular now. I also think that loving this name for so long as made [name]Alexa[/name] seem a tad boring compared to my new name discoveries.

[name]Luna[/name] ~ I think this is my all-time favourite name, and I can actually 100% see myself naming a future child of mine [name]Luna[/name]. The moon connection is perfect, and I just think it sounds so pretty and a tad different. Not liking the rise in popularity, and I’m also not liking the connection to [name]Harry[/name] [name]Potter[/name] - I didn’t know there was a [name]Luna[/name] in the books/films until I saw on Nameberry as I don’t watch or like anything [name]Harry[/name] [name]Potter[/name] related, so I wouldn’t want people to think I named my child [name]Luna[/name] because of [name]Harry[/name] [name]Potter[/name]!

[name]Imogen[/name] ~ I just think this is such a cool name - it looks cool, it sounds cool, and I can picture a really ‘cool’ woman named [name]Imogen[/name]! Also I obviously love that it’s a Greek name! [name]Immy[/name] is such a sweet nickname as well.

My daughter is [name]Maya[/name] and no one mispronounced it… Well one nurse at a clinic did till I bit her head off… I hate the [name]Mya[/name] spelling it’s just awful…

If I had more daughters one would be [name]Rowan[/name] [name]Seraphina[/name] and one would be Soairse [name]Ruby[/name]

OP, [name]Fiona[/name] and [name]Ivy[/name] are lovely names. I especially like [name]Ivy[/name]. [name]Serena[/name] is also very nice, as well as [name]Susanna[/name] and [name]Violet[/name] ([name]Violet[/name] was on my list for a while, but DH hates it!). My least favorite is [name]Maya[/name]. But anyway, great list.

My favorites right now are:

[name]Luna[/name]- It’s my daughter’s name, so of course I love it!
[name]Estelle[/name]- My daughter’s MN  Feels classy
[name]Rosalind[/name]-my newest fave. It’s my IT name right now, lol
[name]Cecilia[/name]- this was DH’s great grandmother’s name, and before I knew that, I loved it. I like it more now that it can honor the family
[name]Emmeline[/name]-I’ve liked this one for a while. Feels the most unique to me.
[name]Laila[/name]- I actually didn’t like this name at all for a while. But after I read A Thousand Splendid Suns, the name grew on me.
[name]Eliza[/name]- I just like it.

From your list I really like [name]Ivy[/name]. Friends of mine are having a baby girl in [name]July[/name], and they are calling he [name]Maiya[/name], I don’t like the extra I but that’s their choice.

My favourite girl name is [name]Aurora[/name] [name]Belle[/name], but my SO isn’t keen :frowning: he says he can imagine a grown up daughter with that name.

Other girls I love are :
[name]Orla[/name] (SOs favourite)
[name]Posey[/name]
[name]Merida[/name]
[name]Beatrix[/name]
[name]Rosalie[/name]

From your list, I love [name]Violet[/name] and [name]Maya[/name]. Where I’m from, [name]Maya[/name] is never mispronounced.
My two favorites are:
[name]Sophie[/name]
[name]Emily[/name] nn [name]Emmy[/name]

Great names! Out of your names I really like [name]Violet[/name], [name]Susanna[/name], and [name]Fiona[/name]. They are all beautiful, vintage names that aren’t overly common.

My Favorites:
[name]Clara[/name]
[name]Evangeline[/name] nn [name]Evie[/name]
[name]Miriam[/name] nn [name]Miri[/name]
[name]Juliette[/name]
[name]Elsa[/name] nn [name]Elsie[/name]
