My husband and I found out this morning that we are expecting a baby boy, so the name game begins! Of course, we have a list of girl names, but haven’t come up with too many boy names, so I am requesting help!
I am of Ukrainian origin, while my husband is of Scottish, [name]German[/name] and British descent. We are using a Scottish family name for a middle name, but would like to have a first name that is interesting and somewhat uncommon for a first name, preferably of Ukrainian or Slavic descent. Some early contenders are [name]Viktor[/name] and [name]Hadeon[/name], but we would love to add some others…
Kyril (sadly, his alphabet-inventing partner, St Methodius, has few baby namesakes by comparison)
[name]Daniil[/name]
[name]Arkady[/name]
[name]Yevgeny[/name]
Tadeusz
[name]Dmitri[/name]
[name]Ilya[/name]
[name]Arkadi[/name]
[name]Constantine[/name]/[name]Konstantin[/name]
[name]Lazar[/name] (I like it with the l’-ZAR pronunciation, not like laser-beam)
[name]Alexei[/name]
I (as well as my husband) am becoming partial to [name]Lev[/name] or [name]Levko[/name], but my married name begins with L and is one syllable. I want to avoid the hyphenated last name for the kids (my maiden name starts with K), so I haven’t decided if i like the double L sound. It would be a Leh-vko [name]Lee[/name] combination. The middle name begins with B so that would break it up, but obviously, my child won’t be announced by his full name in most social situations
At least we have a couple months to still mull this over!
I really like [name]Levko[/name] with the nickname [name]Lev[/name], but I think it’s too much with a one syllable ‘L’ surname. The names run into each other- [name]Lev[/name] [name]Lee[/name] does sound a bit like someone saying ‘lovely’
