[name_f]English[/name_f] = when used in the [name_f]English[/name_f]-speaking world
Inspired by the current rise of [name_f]Claudia[/name_f] on NB, a solid mom-name to [name_m]German[/name_m]-speakers, or [name_f]Sylvie[/name_f], which shares a similar fate in [name_f]France[/name_f], I was wondering which names International Berries might have gone “really? isn’t that super dated” over when first reading them on NB.
Bonus: and which other dated-to-you names, that NB has not discovered yet, do you think NB users might like?

Hmm, maybe [name_f]Ayla[/name_f]? It’s becoming trendy in many places but such a 70s name here.
Oh, and [name_f]Aysel[/name_f]. Some berries seem to like but the imagery is… not a baby for me. Definitely not a baby. I was surprised when it was mentioned here!
Maybe [name_u]Louise[/name_u]? I’m in [name_f]Canada[/name_f], and a solid half of the Francophone middle aged women I know are named [name_u]Louise[/name_u], so it definitely feels more like a mom name to me.
I can totally see the appeal of [name_f]Bettina[/name_f] in [name_f]English[/name_f]! Another one you may also like is [name_f]Babette[/name_f].

[name_f]Sylvia[/name_f]/Sylvie, Aster, Esther, Vivienne/Vivian (I’m sure there’s a few more but I can’t remember)

Where are they considered dated?
Most of the names I’ve written down were in the Top 20 for all of the 60s and 70s, so I’ve heard them on my mom’s friends all my life, making their popularity on NB so interesting to me, however, I can totally see the appeal of many of them in [name_f]English[/name_f]!
Oh I may have misread the title! I’m in [name_f]England[/name_f], was it meant for people outside of [name_f]English[/name_f] speaking countries?
[name_f]Sylvia[/name_f] and [name_u]Vivian[/name_u] are more personal associations for me, the ones I know are 65 and 78 so I can only see them as old names. [name_u]Aster[/name_u] and [name_f]Esther[/name_f] could be cultural though, they just never seem to appear in conversation/media and when they do its usually a negative reaction, I was surprised to see them so popular on here

[name_u]Or[/name_u] people that grew up in non-[name_f]English[/name_f] speaking countries/in different cultures BUT I can totally see how the title can be misinterpreted, sorry
Though I also think it’s interesting that some names, like [name_m]Ralph[/name_m], are super popular in E&W but haven’t really caught on in the States again (though in this case, it might be due to the pronunciation difference).
Not so much dated, but it is weird to see berries talking about [name_f]Aoife[/name_f] and how unique it is when every second girl I meet is an [name_f]Aoife[/name_f] over here. Same with [name_f]Niamh[/name_f].
No Scottish names are really trendy, which is sad but [name_f]Morag[/name_f], [name_f]Eileen[/name_f], [name_u]Jean[/name_u] and [name_f]Marjorie[/name_f] are the dated names that spring to mind
I’ve seen a handful of people crushing on [name_f]Golda[/name_f], [name_f]Shoshana[/name_f], [name_f]Zelda[/name_f] - and while I love those names too they are very old feeling (think [name_f]Gertrude[/name_f] or [name_f]Hortense[/name_f])!
Maybe berries would like [name_f]Jolanda[/name_f], [name_f]Saskia[/name_f], Henrica, [name_m]Arend[/name_m], [name_m]Berend[/name_m] or [name_m]Eduard[/name_m].
From a UK perspective, I would consider these popular-on-Nameberry names to be dated, or at the very least past their peak.
[name_f]Emma[/name_f]
[name_f]Gemma[/name_f]
[name_f]Caroline[/name_f]
[name_f]Claire[/name_f]
i’m not international but something that’s really interesting to me is how popular [name_f]Jessica[/name_f] is in england!! whereas it feels so so dated here (america) at least to me.
I have to second [name_f]Katja[/name_f] and [name_f]Anja[/name_f]! All Finnish women I know with these names are in their 50s and 60s, and the [name_f]Katya[/name_f] or [name_f]Anya[/name_f] spelling doesn’t make them any fresher to me either.
Also…
