Iona/Io

We are currently trying for our 4th child and really hoping to have a son (we already have 3 beautiful girls: [name_f]Aria[/name_f] [name_u]Winter[/name_u], [name_f]Elowen[/name_f] [name_f]Ivy[/name_f] and [name_f]Briar[/name_f] [name_f]Faye[/name_f]). If we have a baby boy, we will definitely name him [name_m]Bodhi[/name_m], [name_u]Jem[/name_u] or [name_m]Forest[/name_m]. While my husband loves [name_m]Bodhi[/name_m] & I prefer the name [name_u]Jem[/name_u] (how adorable would it be to have a little [name_u]Jemmy[/name_u] running around and being spoiled by his big sisters), we are sure about the middle name: [name_u]Sage[/name_u].

Of course, if we have another girl, we will be equally happy, blessed and thankful! We love being parents to little princesses. But we were talking about girl names the other day and we couldn’t agree on anything. We loved [name_f]Isla[/name_f] and [name_f]Fiona[/name_f] (but our close friends have recently had a little [name_f]Fiona[/name_f], so it’s out & we already know too many Islas).

I love love the names [name_f]Iona[/name_f] and [name_f]Io[/name_f]. [name_f]Do[/name_f] you think they would go well with [name_f]Aria[/name_f], [name_f]Elowen[/name_f] and [name_f]Briar[/name_f]? I would love to have a little [name_f]Iona[/name_f] (nn would probably be Ionnie and [name_f]Io[/name_f]). Which do you like more: [name_f]Iona[/name_f], [name_f]Io[/name_f] or [name_f]Ione[/name_f]?

Other names we like:
[name_f]Juno[/name_f] (we are considering it as a middle name)
[name_f]Ianthe[/name_f]
[name_f]Romilly[/name_f] ([name_u]Romy[/name_u])
[name_f]Imogen[/name_f] (nn Immie, [name_u]Mo[/name_u] or [name_f]Ginny[/name_f])
[name_f]Vienna[/name_f] (like [name_f]Juno[/name_f], this would be a middle name)
Saskia (as a middle name)

Edit: Oh, I forgot about the pronunciation! Which do you prefer: eye-own-uh ee-own-uh for Iona and ee-o or eye-o for Io?

I love [name_f]Iona[/name_f] for you - I think it works well! I’d also go with this as it gives you [name_f]Io[/name_f] too

I also really like [name_f]Romilly[/name_f]

I think [name_f]Iona[/name_f] is a PERFECT sister for [name_f]Aria[/name_f], [name_f]Elowen[/name_f], and [name_f]Briar[/name_f]! I would choose the full version, as it gives her options and also allows for the nickname [name_f]Io[/name_f]. I prefer the eye-own-uh pronunciation, and also love [name_f]Romilly[/name_f], [name_f]Ianthe[/name_f], and [name_f]Vienna[/name_f] from your list.

I prefer [name_f]Ione[/name_f] to [name_f]Iona[/name_f] only because of how the letters look together to my eye…both names are equally pretty in pronunciation (Eye-OH-nee or Eye-OH-nah) & both would provide the option of the nickname [name_f]Io[/name_f].

If [name_f]Fiona[/name_f]'s out, would [name_f]Ffion[/name_f] ([name_u]FEE[/name_u]-on) be an option? Or [name_u]Isa[/name_u] (EYE-sah) rather than [name_f]Isla[/name_f]?

I love [name_f]Juno[/name_f] and [name_f]Romilly[/name_f]. I’m not a fan of [name_f]Iona[/name_f] but I love [name_f]Io[/name_f]. [name_f]Io[/name_f] [name_f]Romilly[/name_f] is very cute!

Although I personally prefer [name_f]Ione[/name_f], I think [name_f]Aria[/name_f], [name_f]Elowen[/name_f], [name_f]Briar[/name_f] & [name_f]Iona[/name_f] fit together perfectly, and [name_f]Io[/name_f] makes a gorgeous ‘nickname’. I tend to use the long I pronunciation, however, for Greek [name_f]Io[/name_f] and [name_f]Ione[/name_f], I love the EE sound too. In regards to a combo, I think [name_f]Iona[/name_f] “[name_f]Io[/name_f]” [name_f]Romilly[/name_f] would be lovely, and fit beautifully with her sisters names.

I adore [name_f]Ianthe[/name_f], as well as [name_f]Juno[/name_f] & [name_f]Saskia[/name_f] (and [name_u]Jem[/name_u], [name_m]Forest[/name_m] & [name_u]Sage[/name_u]) - gosh, you’ve got some great names on your lists!

I feel like [name_f]Iona[/name_f] or [name_f]Ianthe[/name_f] goes really well with [name_f]Aria[/name_f], [name_f]Elowen[/name_f] and [name_f]Briar[/name_f]! Both names I prefer the I pronounced as “eye”. And I like that [name_f]Ianthe[/name_f] would mean they all had a different end sound to their names. [name_f]Io[/name_f] is awesome too, it just feels a little incomplete next to the other names.

I’m quite liking the thought of [name_f]Ianthe[/name_f] [name_f]Juno[/name_f].

I looove [name_f]Iona[/name_f], both in general and with your set!

[name_f]Io[/name_f] is a fabulous nickname but I do think it would be a very brave full name choice — both because of its extreme brevity and because of its mythological backstory. I also adore [name_f]Ianthe[/name_f] and think that [name_f]Io[/name_f] would make an equally great nickname for that.

Pronunciation-wise, I’m used to the “eye” pronunciation for [name_f]Io[/name_f], [name_f]Ione[/name_f] and [name_f]Ianthe[/name_f], but the “ee” sound is pretty too. To me, [name_f]Iona[/name_f] is only ever “eye”, because that’s the way the Scottish island (where the name comes from) is pronounced.

I love [name_f]Iona[/name_f] [name_f]Imogen[/name_f] or [name_f]Iona[/name_f] [name_f]Romilly[/name_f]!

I love [name_f]Iona[/name_f] and [name_f]Ione[/name_f] with your other children. Especially with [name_f]Juno[/name_f] as a middle; [name_f]Iona[/name_f] [name_f]Juno[/name_f] sounds adorable. Although I had a moment of doubt when I saw you considered [name_f]Saskia[/name_f] as a middle. [name_f]Io[/name_f] [name_f]Saskia[/name_f] sounds so spunky and fun!

I love [name_f]Ione[/name_f] (eye-OH-nee) and [name_f]Io[/name_f] (EYE-oh).

Congrats on baby #4!!
I have always loved [name_f]Iona[/name_f] but when my partner and I discuss names and it comes up he dislikes it so it is out for me but I would love to see it used and loved more. I think [name_f]Iona[/name_f] [name_f]Saskia[/name_f] - maybe biased as I love both these names so much. [name_f]Iona[/name_f] [name_f]Romilly[/name_f] would be adorable as with sisters names like [name_f]Aria[/name_f] [name_u]Winter[/name_u], [name_f]Elowen[/name_f] [name_f]Ivy[/name_f] and [name_f]Briar[/name_f] [name_f]Faye[/name_f]. I feel like going with [name_f]Iona[/name_f] or [name_f]Ione[/name_f] they can choose the NN to be [name_f]Io[/name_f] - Plus I feel like [name_f]Io[/name_f] is missing something.
As for pronunciation, I say
[name_f]Iona[/name_f] like eye-own-uh
[name_f]Io[/name_f] like eye-o
