How do you personally pronounce [name_f]Ione[/name_f]? and WDYT of the name?
I had always pronounced it eye-own but maybe I have been doing it wrong? I always have really liked the name but want to know what the community thinks.

[name_m]Hi[/name_m]! Midwest dialect USA here. I would automatically say āEye-o-nayā and I think itās a lovely name!
[name_f]My[/name_f] instinct is to say āeye-OH-neeā but āee-OH-neeā wouldnāt surprise me. I do think Iād say it with three syllables.
I think [name_f]Ione[/name_f] is cool! Historic and uncommon with a unique and rhythmic sound. And I like that despite being rare, it doesnāt feel overly complicated.
I would also pronounce it as Eye-o-nay
eye-OH-nee!
On nb it says eye-OH-nee or ee-OH-nee.
Iād pronouce it ee-O-nee/ee-OH-nee (o/oh rhyming with no) just because itās cuter.
When I look at it, sometimes, I think itās eye-O-uh (o also rhyming with no), even though itās incorrect. (it would be pretty though).
Iād say ee-OH-nee, but I wouldnāt be surprised by eye-OH-nee! I think sheās really sweet - she has a very distinct sound for such a short name! Different but familiar, too.
I knew an [name_f]Ione[/name_f] a few years ago and she pronounced it exactly like you said (Iām in the Western US btw) so that would be my first instinct, though I know there are probably other pronunciations. Iād say I mostly like it, itās not really my personal style but itās definitely cool and unique!
I say it as eye-oh-nee. I like the bright, warm sound
Eye-OH-nee . One of my favourites
I know a young [name_f]Ione[/name_f], pronounced I-O-knee (I and O said like the letters). So thatās how I would say it. I like it a lot!
Iād say it eye-oh-knee. I fell in love with the name watching a TV series of The Last Days of Pompeii, based on the novel. One of the main characters was [name_f]Ione[/name_f] and that was the way it was said.
Iād say āeye-OH-neeā (which would definitely be what I said first) or āee-OH-nee.ā
[name_f]Ione[/name_f] is nice! I say eye-OH-nee too. I like [name_f]Iona[/name_f] better, but [name_f]Ione[/name_f] interesting. Itās one of those Iāve always found appealing but not enough to use it myself.
I know it means āvioletā or āviolet flowerā or something like that, maybe thatās why I like it with [name_f]Violet[/name_f]? I think something like [name_f]Violet[/name_f] [name_f]Ione[/name_f] [name_f]Ophelia[/name_f] or [name_f]Violet[/name_f] [name_f]Ione[/name_f] [name_u]Celeste[/name_u] or something would be really beautiful.
i would say eye-OWN-ee, though wouldnāt be surprised to see ee-OWN-ee either. any other pronunciation would be very surprising to me. ione is really lovely, i like it a lot !! iāve never met one, but iāve encountered a couple of people called iona, and one iolanthe who goes by io.
Is the [name_u]Io[/name_u] nickname ee-oh or eye-oh? Guess it depends on the prn. of [name_f]Iolanthe[/name_f] too.
she says eye-oh (short for eye-uh-LAN-thee)
