~ irene

inspired by both @emeraldsea and @daisymeadows :smiling_face_with_three_hearts:

recently i’ve been loving the name irene! i feel like she’s really easy to picture on a little girl, but also a very elegant sounding name. anyway, i have a couple of questions that i’d love to get your opinions on!

  1. what are your thoughts on the name irene, and do you prefer it in the first or middle spot?

  2. what middle name would you pair with irene, and what first name would you pair with irene

  3. finally, what would you name a brother and sister to irene?

It reminds me of a character from an Enid Blyton series, haha. So I picture a funny, clumsy, and creative girl. I really like it, I get very :rainbow: :rose::sunny::closed_umbrella: vibes, lol. I think I prefer it in the first spot, it’s got a classic, vintage flair to it.

I’d probably go with Irene Glenrose, Irene Victoria, or Felicity Irene.

  1. I adore [name_f]Irene[/name_f]! It’s my great-grandmother’s name, and she’s such a nutter and a cool lady that I think her name is much the same. A little chic, a little classy, and a load of excitement! Very :bubbles::star::dancer::mirror::poodle: feeling. I like it in both the middle and first spots, though I think I’m the first spot she packs a bigger punch.

  2. I like [name_f]Tallulah[/name_f] [name_f]Irene[/name_f], [name_f]Maude[/name_f] [name_f]Irene[/name_f], [name_u]Florence[/name_u] [name_f]Irene[/name_f], and [name_f]Irene[/name_f] [name_f]Violet[/name_f]! I could see myself with a daughter named any of those quite easily.

  3. [name_f]Irene[/name_f] with sister [name_f]Beulah[/name_f] or [name_f]Lavinia[/name_f] and brother [name_m]Hugh[/name_m] or [name_m]Oswald[/name_m] ‘Ozzy.’ :love_letter:

Irene reminds me of my mom—it’s her middle name! I’ve heard it pronounced both eye-reen or eye-reen-ee (reen rhymes with teen). It’s great in the first or middle spot!

  1. I like [name_f]Irene[/name_f]. It’s serious and distinguished and makes me think of [name_f]Irene[/name_f] [name_u]Adler[/name_u]. Usually, I think it works better as a first.
  2. [name_f]Irene[/name_f] [name_f]Clementina[/name_f] / [name_f]Simonetta[/name_f] [name_f]Irene[/name_f].
  3. [name_f]Irene[/name_f], [name_m]Cyril[/name_m], and [name_f]Viola[/name_f].

what are your thoughts on the name irene, and do you prefer it in the first or middle spot?

[name_f]Irene[/name_f] is a sharp yet somehow almost whimsical name, with a sweet meaning and intriguing feel - unexpected on a younger person, with a slightly dated, clunky vibe that also makes it cool. I go back and forth on whether I like it, some days yes, some days no :person_shrugging: I think it would sound good in either spot, but I would probably put it in the middle

what middle name would you pair with irene, and what first name would you pair with irene

Middle names I’d consider: [name_f]Irene[/name_f] [name_f]Tallulah[/name_f], [name_f]Irene[/name_f] [name_f]Emilia[/name_f], [name_f]Irene[/name_f] [name_f]Ginevra[/name_f] and [name_f]Irene[/name_f] [name_f]Saskia[/name_f]

First names I’d consider: [name_f]Felicity[/name_f] [name_f]Irene[/name_f], [name_f]Cherith[/name_f] [name_f]Irene[/name_f], [name_f]Penelope[/name_f] [name_f]Irene[/name_f], [name_f]Carys[/name_f] [name_f]Irene[/name_f]

what would you name a brother and sister to irene?

Unlike Gwendolyn or other names, which I love but are more guilty pleasures for someone not in an English speaking country like me, Irene is in my list since long and ACTUALLY on my perfectly usable + beautiful want to use list! It is very modern here and I hear it on children and teens, but I still love it.

I would use:

Irene Alexandra / Irene Alessandra
Irene Mei
Irene Costanza
Irene Zoe
Irene Larissa
Irene Clara
Irene Mabel (kinda gp but would love)
Irene Alice
Irene Felicity / Irene Felicita
Irene Silvia
Irene Adelaide
Irene Giulietta / Irene Juliette
Irene Teresa
Irene Bianca
Irene Heloria
Irene Andromeda :orange_heart:
Irene Cassiopeia
Irene Luisa
Irene Anna Ludmilla
Irene Emilia
Irene Margot / Irene Margaux (last one kinda gp but would love)
Irene Calliope
Irene Gaia
Irene Pasifae (it spelling) / Irene Pasiphaë
Irene Cassandra
Irene Ludovica
Irene Circe
Irene Angelica
Irene Isidora / Isadora
Irene Lavinia
Irene Flaminia

Irene and:

Gaia, Elisabeth, Achille, Paride / Paris (b), Hector / Ettore, Aurelio, Flavio, Bruno, Jules / Julius, Lysander (if I lived in an English speaking country) / Lisandro (this spelling honours grandma), Alexander / Alessandro, Alexei / Alessio / Alexis (b), Evander / Evandro, Angelica, Olimpia, Cassandra, Horatio (lived I out of Italy or Spain, here the H is silent…), Isidora / Isadora :green_heart::green_heart::green_heart::green_heart: (Imagine Irene and Isadora!), Lavinia, maybe Flaminia, Allegra, Serena (g) / Sereno (b), Ocean(o) for a boy, and most Ancient Greek or Roman inspired names.

I use the Italian / German prn Ee-REH-neh but use the British one for Irene Mabel and Irene Alice!

My situation is different from you, so I listed both names I would use in my country and in another life in a place where the H or other sounds won’t get silented for example or too difficult to spell.

Love Irene!

Irene…

I think [name_f]Irene[/name_f] is lovely! Unexpected, bright, fun and has this whole 1950s vintage tea dress, sunny days and drinking cloudy lemonade a lovely nostalgic vibe. I like [name_f]Irene[/name_f] as both a first and middle name it would depend on the combination.

Middle name ideas for [name_f]Irene[/name_f] could be [name_f]Irene[/name_f] [name_f]Elizabeth[/name_f], [name_f]Irene[/name_f] [name_f]Alexandra[/name_f] and [name_f]Irene[/name_f] [name_f]Victoria[/name_f]. i love irene a lot! it feels very little-black-dress to me, classic and elegant.

  1. i like it better as a first, though i guess it depends on the combo.
  2. maybe irene finley, tallulah irene, irene marlowe, or antigone irene!
  3. sisters… irene + diana, leila, coraline, mabel, winifred; brothers… irene + jasper, arthur, augustine, wilbur, emrys.

I love [name_f]Irene[/name_f]! So fresh and darling! I just love that it means peace :dove:
I prefer it as a first name because I love it so much, but I can also totally see it in the middle!

[name_f]Irene[/name_f] & [name_f]Louisa[/name_f]
[name_f]Irene[/name_f] & [name_f]Vera[/name_f]
[name_f]Irene[/name_f] & [name_f]Della[/name_f]

I like Irene! She reminds me of a member from the group Red Velvet whose stage name is Irene! She’s very elegant and almost regal, so I always picture the name to fit that vibe! I prefer it in the middle spot.

One of my favorite combos used to be Mina Eleanor Irene, and I still really like it, so I’d use that if Irene was a middle! If it was a first I’d do Irene Magnolia!

When Irene used to be at the top of my list, my favorite sibset was Mina Eleanor Irene, Sophia Magnolia Joy, and Cassian Louis Rhys, and I think that’s nice to this day! If it were my daughters first name, I’d probably name her sister Mina, and her brother Arthur or Bastien

  1. I love [name_f]Irene[/name_f]! She used to be one of my all time favorites. I would put it in the first spot.
  2. [name_f]Irene[/name_f] [name_f]Philippa[/name_f] or [name_f]Maple[/name_f] [name_f]Irene[/name_f]
  3. [name_f]Helen[/name_f] or [name_m]Truman[/name_m] (Irene + [name_f]Helen[/name_f], as sisters, is one of my favorite sibset ideas - they sound like the sweetest sisters)
  1. i really like irene! i feel like it’s super underrated, and also very due for a revival. it has a young, sprightly sound, while also being vintage and rare. i have no preference for first or middle, since i think it would work great for both.
  2. irene clover, irene fleur, irene july, irene lilac, irene milou, april irene, and betty irene are some that i would use.
  3. irene, louise, + rudy (middles maybe irene lilac, louise april, + rudy sage)

I love [name_f]Irene[/name_f] as a first. It is elegant and beautiful.

I like [name_f]Irene[/name_f] [name_f]Deborah[/name_f].

I like [name_f]Deborah[/name_f], [name_f]Opal[/name_f], and [name_u]Greer[/name_u] as sisters. Not sure about male names.

  1. I love [name_f]Irene[/name_f]! It has the same feel as other more popular vintage names but without the trendiness and I totally agree with you that it sounds good at different life stages and would grow with a child. I get really bright, intelligent, sassy vibes. I prefer it as a first because I love it and think its a refreshing choice but its fine in the middle and does flow well with a lot of first names so either is fine.

  2. [name_f]Irene[/name_f] [name_f]Abigail[/name_f]
