I know an Irina and she uses this pn - she’s Greek if that helps at all

I would pronounce it ih-ree-na but wouldn’t be surprised if it was supposed to be eye-free-na. The area pronunciation probably wouldn’t occur to me.

I think before I knew of any Irina’s my instinct would be eye-reen-a, but the couple I have heard of have both been ih-ree-na

[name_f]My[/name_f] instinct would be eye-ree-nuh, but ih-reen-uh wouldn’t surprise me either

Either eye-ree-nuh or ih-ree-nuh or ih-reh-nuh.

Eye-ree-nuh (#2), but maybe that’s because i like eye sounds :woman_shrugging:t3: I wouldn’t be surprised by ih-ree-uh and lile that too

I’d pronounce it ih-REEN-ah, vs [name_f]Irena[/name_f] which is eye-REEN-ah

I can second this! I’m a second gen Greek Canadian and it’s usually produced ih-reen-ah or ear-een-ah

my name is Ireni/Irini [Eirene], its greek, and we pronounce it ee-ree-nee, so [name_f]Irina[/name_f] would be ee-ree-na

eye-ree-nah would be my guess
