Iris?

Does [name_f]Iris[/name_f] work for a boy or is it a definite no? I’m into more ‘feminine’ names for boys ([name_u]Eden[/name_u], [name_u]Jess[/name_u], [name_u]Quinn[/name_u], [name_u]Wren[/name_u] etc.) so I can’t really tell if this is too much.

I might work as a middle name.

I’m gonna say no. [name_u]Idris[/name_u], on the other hand, would be excellent.

Love [name_u]Eden[/name_u], [name_u]Quinn[/name_u] and [name_u]Wren[/name_u] for boys but [name_f]Iris[/name_f] is a definite no for me :frowning:

But im not a fan even for a girl

Other names could be [name_f]Fern[/name_f] or [name_u]Flynn[/name_u]

I agree with the other posters, sorry! [name_u]Idris[/name_u] has already been suggested, but what about [name_u]Ira[/name_u]? [name_u]Reese[/name_u]? [name_m]Ares[/name_m]? [name_u]Ari[/name_u]?

I like [name_u]Idris[/name_u] and [name_u]Arian[/name_u]. I like [name_u]Ira[/name_u] too, but I just can’t stop thinking about the IRA when I see the name written down :woman_shrugging:

Iris has been a feminine name for all of its history. There was a Greek goddess named [name_f]Iris[/name_f]. If you’re an adult man who wants to change his name to [name_f]Iris[/name_f], I see no problem because it’s your choice. I wouldn’t recommend it for a baby boy though.

I can see where you’re coming from, but I highly doubt people would be kind to him about it. It’s definitely not considered unisex, but again, I do think it would be cute on a boy in theory.

Also, love all the other names you mentioned!

I’m into feminine names on boys as well — But this one is TOO girly. I’m sorry.

It’s too much and in saying that, I am thinking first of all of your son, who is the most important consideration, and potential teasing. Maybe you would like [name_u]Ari[/name_u] as it shares some of the same sounds.

It’s a definite no for me. Hmm this has got me wondering about boy flower names in general…

I actually LOVE the idea of [name_f]Iris[/name_f] for a boy, but I do think it would be hard to wear in real life. [name_f]My[/name_f] #1 boy name [name_m]Osiris[/name_m], I found actually while I was looking for names that could have the nn [name_f]Iris[/name_f]! [name_m]Cyrus[/name_m] could also have the nn [name_f]Iris[/name_f]. I think it could work as a middle though! You would have to pair it with a more masculine first name though, the first to come to mind is [name_m]Apollo[/name_m] [name_f]Iris[/name_f].

I think some flower/plant names definitely work for boys - [name_u]Sage[/name_u], [name_u]Reed[/name_u], maybe [name_u]Cedar[/name_u]?

Those are nice! Oh and [name_m]Heath[/name_m], duh that’s one of my favorites! Doesn’t really remind me of a flower. [name_u]Basil[/name_u] maybe counts?

I’m seconding [name_u]Idris[/name_u]!

I think [name_f]Iris[/name_f] would make a cool middle

Yes! [name_m]Heath[/name_m] and [name_u]Basil[/name_u] definitely count. I like them.

For me it’s a definite know. How about [name_u]Idris[/name_u]?

Probably too feminine for a boy, but that’s just my opinion.
