Irvin

Is [name_m]Vincent[/name_m] and [name_f]Iris[/name_f] having a child name [name_m]Irvin[/name_m] a bit on the nose?

It’s not something I’d do but as Irvin’s a stand alone name & not just parents names ā€˜smooshed’ together as was the trend for a while it could work

I don’t mind it! As the pp said, [name_m]Irvin[/name_m] is a strong standalone name and the connection isn’t obvious at first glance. :+1:

I feel like as long as you love the name, then it’s okay! I had to think for a minute to puzzle out why it would be ā€œon the noseā€ at all–most people probably won’t notice!

I think it stands on its own enough that it works, and to be honest, once I’d figured it out, I’d think it was pretty cool.

I think it’s kinda cool, and I also think most non namey people may not notice the connections. I’d go for it.

[name_m]Irvin[/name_m] is a great name :blossom:

I think its fun tbh. Its not super on the nose.

yeah, it kind of is, maybe [name_m]Ivan[/name_m] could be a better alternative or maybe [name_m]Irwin[/name_m]

I wouldn’t say so because I can’t even figure out what they have in common to be on the nose for

It took me a minute to realize the connection between |ris, V!ncent and Irv”n. I like that it is a sutle, elegant idea. It works! Its meaningful and charming. Definitely not to much.

As you pointed it out like that I noticed it straight away. I think most people would notice the ā€˜vin’ after awhile but the ā€˜ir’ pronunciation is so different that people probably wouldn’t spot it.
