Is Alexandra still too popular/boring? Thoughts?

With people nowadays choosing more unique choices for their children I’m wondering if the name [name_f]Alexandra[/name_f] would be alright to use now or is it still to… eh?

Eh meaning… “just alright” - is [name_f]Alexandra[/name_f] boring? I love this name, I think it sounds powerful and regal but I don’t wanna have a name that 3 other people in the room have as well.

What are your opinions on it? Give me your true, honest thoughts- if you hate it don’t be afraid to say so but give me the reason why you hate it. (If you are biased and hate it just because you dislike a person who has this name try to separate the name from the person)

Also this is optional but if you could give me names (starting with A) similar to [name_f]Alexandra[/name_f] with the same regal, power inducing vibe I’d be extremely grateful. I’d be even more impressed if you could find a name that starts with A and also has an X or Z in there as well.

For example; the name Azula (Avatar fans what’s up) this name is unusable cause of the show and because apparently a lot of you hate it but I [name_u]LOVE[/name_u] it. Azula has the same feel as [name_f]Alexandra[/name_f] to me so if you could find something like that I think I would honestly love you.

I don’t consider it boring at all. I think the fact most Alexandras go by [name_u]Alex[/name_u] gives the full name a certain resistance to ubiquity.

The first names your criteria made me think of were Aurembiaix and Auxiliadora but those are very very much out there and not quite usable. Still I wanted to mention them since the names might interest you. Everyone can use some GPs.

[name_f]Axelle[/name_f]
[name_f]Adelaide[/name_f]
Azelais

Names that don’t begin with A but feel like [name_f]Alexandra[/name_f] to me are [name_f]Calixta[/name_f] and Roxelana.

I love [name_f]Alexandra[/name_f]'s classic, regal vibe, and no, I don’t think it’s boring. In a world where more and more people are choosing modern/creative names, I think classic names stand out!

Other names you might like…
[name_f]Alessandra[/name_f]
[name_f]Aliza[/name_f]
[name_f]Adelaide[/name_f]
[name_f]Abigail[/name_f]
[name_f]Anastasia[/name_f] or [name_f]Anastazia[/name_f]
[name_f]Azalea[/name_f]

I think Azula would be usable. I saw the show but don’t think of it right away.

I actually like [name_f]Alexandra[/name_f]. I think she’s strong and powerful and has a slew if cute, fun nicknames - [name_u]Alex[/name_u], [name_f]Alexa[/name_f], [name_f]Lexa[/name_f], [name_u]Lexie[/name_u], [name_u]Lex[/name_u], [name_f]Ally[/name_f], [name_u]Andy[/name_u], pretty much any nick name for any kid - my favourite is [name_u]Lexie[/name_u].

Other names:
[name_f]Anastasia[/name_f] - can’t get more regal and powerful than this
[name_f]Arizona[/name_f]
[name_f]Amelia[/name_f]
[name_f]Alaska[/name_f]
[name_f]Astoria[/name_f] ** - really like this one
[name_f]Amaryllis[/name_f]
[name_f]Acacia[/name_f]
[name_f]Azalea[/name_f] ** - Really love this too
[name_f]Arielle[/name_f] - more princess than regal
[name_f]Athena[/name_f]
[name_f]Adelaide[/name_f] - so regal
[name_u]Addison[/name_u]

I think [name_f]Alexandra[/name_f] is a solid choice that would serve your daughter well, but as a teacher, it has kind of lost its luster for me. Some names I prefer:
[name_f]Alexandria[/name_f]
[name_f]Aurelia[/name_f]
[name_f]Augusta[/name_f]
[name_f]Adriana[/name_f]
Azelie

I do think [name_f]Alexandra[/name_f] is a little boring, yes. I much prefer [name_f]Alessandra[/name_f], just love it!

[name_f]Alexandra[/name_f]’s lovely. It is a bit too popular for me personally though. I’ve met plenty of people with [name_u]Alex[/name_u]- names, and if I met another [name_f]Alexandra[/name_f] I probably wouldn’t give it much of a second thought to be honest. That being said, it’s a beautiful name with a rich history! If you love it you should definitely use it!

I’ve loved Azula since I first heard it on Avatar!!! I don’t consider it to be unusable at all.

I don’t know if you’ll like any of these but what about (sorry for any repeats):

[name_f]Athena[/name_f]
[name_f]Araminta[/name_f]
[name_f]Aurora[/name_f]
[name_f]Artemisia[/name_f]
[name_f]Anastasia[/name_f]
[name_f]Astraea[/name_f]
[name_f]Apollonia[/name_f]/[name_f]Apolline[/name_f]
[name_f]Alessandra[/name_f]
[name_f]Ariadne[/name_f]
[name_f]Astrid[/name_f]
[name_f]Aurelia[/name_f]
[name_f]Aviva[/name_f]

I think [name_f]Alexandra[/name_f] is a timeless classic and it’s not as popular now as it used to be, so I’d say go for it if you love it. I know a little girl who has the nn [name_f]Zandra[/name_f] and that makes it seem more modern. [name_f]Avis[/name_f] is a name you might like instead.

I prefer [name_f]Alessandra[/name_f] over [name_f]Alexandra[/name_f].

I love [name_f]Alexandra[/name_f], but hate [name_u]Alex[/name_u] as a nickname. I feel like its such a beautiful, antique type of name. I know only one.

I think I like [name_f]Alessandra[/name_f] in theory, but I think I’m only keen on forms of [name_f]Alice[/name_f] because of [name_f]Alice[/name_f] in Wonderland, not because I actually love the sound.

I also love:

[name_f]Alexandrina[/name_f]
[name_f]Alexina[/name_f]
[name_f]Alexia[/name_f]
[name_f]Alexandria[/name_f]

[name_f]Alexandra[/name_f] has grown on me recently as it’s my friends surname - but forgetting that I think it’s beautiful, classy and timeless. There are endless nickname options, and it’s both feminine and spunky. I like it

[name_f]Astrid[/name_f]
[name_f]Azalea[/name_f]
Astala

I absolutely adore [name_f]Alexandra[/name_f]! It’s such a classy, timeless name that will never go out of style.

[name_u]Alex[/name_u] and [name_u]Lexi[/name_u] are rather ubiquitous, yes. One or the other is inevitable with [name_f]Alexandra[/name_f].

[name_f]Alexandra[/name_f] is beautiful! Though I might be slightly biased as it is my name… I can tell you in my experience I have met very few [name_f]Alexandra[/name_f]’s. Most people that I meet are either [name_f]Alexandria[/name_f] or [name_f]Alessandra[/name_f].

The only slight problem I’ve encountered is if I introduce myself by my full name first rather than my preferred nickname ([name_u]Allie[/name_u]) inevitably I am given the other persons preferred nickname for [name_f]Alexandra[/name_f]. I’ve been called [name_u]Alex[/name_u], [name_f]Alexa[/name_f], [name_u]Lexi[/name_u] [name_u]Andy[/name_u], [name_u]Sandy[/name_u], [name_f]Xandra[/name_f], [name_f]Sandra[/name_f]. However if I give them my preferred nickname first I usually don’t have a problem…

I don’t find [name_f]Alexandra[/name_f] boring at all. It’s a strong and feminine classic. I love that it has so many nn options, but also love it when people use the full name. My favourite nns at the moment are [name_u]Andy[/name_u] and [name_u]Sasha[/name_u]. I also like [name_u]Alix[/name_u] spelt this way as it has a freshness about it.

I don’t think [name_f]Alexandra[/name_f] is boring, but I don’t seem to be hearing it around as much, especially in younger kids. I do know multiple Alexandras, none of whom go by their full name however (all are shortened to [name_u]Alex[/name_u] or [name_u]Ali[/name_u]), so meeting an [name_f]Alexandra[/name_f] who went by her full name would be refreshing.

[name_f]Adelaide[/name_f] and [name_f]Anastasia[/name_f] are A names that give me the same feel as [name_f]Alexandra[/name_f], and PPs have suggested many other good options as well.
