I know that they’re only babies for such a short period of time, but can you picture a baby/toddler named [name_m]Arthur[/name_m]? Or is the name too associated with men of an older generation?
When you hear the name [name_m]Arthur[/name_m] what kind of associations do you have?
My twins are 2.5 years old and have had classes with two different boys named [name_m]Arthur[/name_m], so that can definitely imagine the name on a toddler!
I think [name_m]Arthur[/name_m] [name_m]Louis[/name_m] nicknamed [name_u]Arlo[/name_u] would be cute.
I [name_u]LOVE[/name_u] [name_m]Arthur[/name_m] and think it would be adorable on a young child. I don’t have strong associations, the children’s book and tv series, knights… but I think [name_m]Arthur[/name_m] is a classic name that can fit any personality type and every stage of life.
I don’t picture [name_m]Arthur[/name_m] as an “Old man’s name”, like I would for perhaps [name_m]Clyde[/name_m] or [name_m]Gerald[/name_m].
I think [name_m]Arthur[/name_m] is a lovely name, and I could see the nn [name_m]Artie[/name_m] or [name_u]Arlo[/name_u] for a younger boy, but I don’t think a nickname is needed.
I think of the character named [name_m]Arthur[/name_m] from the cartoon “[name_m]Arthur[/name_m].” I think it gives it a younger association. [name_m]Art[/name_m] or [name_m]Artie[/name_m] could work as nicknames.
Definitely can see it on a little boy because I’ve met a little [name_m]Arthur[/name_m]! It’s a name that’s circulated back around, it’s transcended any old man associations.
I don’t think [name_m]Arthur[/name_m] is too ‘old man’ at all. It borders on classic in my opinion, and I can definitely imagine anyone of any age with the name. The only [name_m]Arthur[/name_m] I met was a baby, and it definitely works. As for associations, I think Arthurian legend, Camelot, magic, and castles. I like the medieval, historical feel [name_m]Arthur[/name_m] has.
Not to hijack the thread, but I seriously think you may have just named my new son, due in [name_u]November[/name_u]. I’ve been so stuck on finding his name, and I really like [name_m]Arthur[/name_m] (and it’s even a family name!), but I’m a total nickname person so I’d kind of cast it aside. [name_u]Arlo[/name_u] is SO cute, and DH and I met in [name_f]Louisiana[/name_f] so [name_m]Louis[/name_m] makes total sense as a middle. So thank you!
OP - I’ve met multiple young arthurs and it totally works. I think of [name_m]Arthur[/name_m] the Aardvard (a happy association), and Knights of the Round table/Arthurian legend. It’s a great name!
A huge THANK YOU to everyone who has posted in this thread. There are plenty of strong cases for [name_m]Arthur[/name_m], which pleases me immensely.
[name_m]Just[/name_m] to throw a spanner in the works, the name [name_m]Evander[/name_m] (which has just popped up in the boy’s forum recently) has caught my attention. [name_f]Do[/name_f] you think this name is as classy and as noble as [name_m]Arthur[/name_m]?
I think so. It dates back thousands of years so it’s an old name. It has a nice meaning in both languages. It features in mythology. I prefer [name_m]Evander[/name_m] to [name_m]Arthur[/name_m].
I don’t know where you live but in my country ([name_f]France[/name_f]) [name_m]Arthur[/name_m] is really popular among little boys. For me it’s a timeless name.
There are many cute nn you can choose if [name_m]Arthur[/name_m] feels too “old” for a toddler (although I think it would be adorable on a toddler). The name also has a distinguished feel for an adult. I don’t think you can go wrong with this one!
Not too old-man at all. It makes me think of heroism. This has been my first choice as a boy’s name for years. I also used to know a talented and athletic teenager named [name_m]Arthur[/name_m]. He wore it well.
