I don’t think so. The only [name_u]Aubrey[/name_u] I know is in her twenties.
Yes it’s very trendy to my ear
Thanks everyone! Super helpful to get different perspectives (everyone has been so polite & constructive!), especially the several comments about the sibset. I actually think [name_u]Alex[/name_u] & [name_u]Aubrey[/name_u] sound cute together, but I’m also not particularly bothered by the idea that they don’t officially “match” in terms of style.
I’m glad the response was mostly positive/neutral–that makes me feel better about this choice. We’re not very “trendy” people so it just felt a bit weird to realize the name we’re considering could possibly have that vibe. Argh, naming a human is so hard!! You just want everyone to love the name and that is just never going to happen!
Yeah…[name_u]Aubrey[/name_u] definitely has that “teen mom” flavor.
[name_f]Audrey[/name_f]/[name_u]Aubrey[/name_u] are favorites of mine and I don’t think either is too trendy. And definitely not trashy at all!
My 9 year old niece is named [name_u]Aubrey[/name_u], and aside from her I’ve only met one other person with that name, and she was in her late 20’s.
I personally don’t think it’s too popular over overused.
Initially I would say no, it’s not too trendy. However when you mention the teen-mom thing I kind of get what you mean. I’ve never watched the show either, but I have heard of this name being used on the show.
It’s a tricky one this! I’m a firm believer though of going for it if you both love it. I don’t think it’s 100% trendy, I think it depends on which way you look at it.
When I think of [name_u]Aubrey[/name_u], I think of the song by the 70s rock band Bread. Look it up and listen to it! I love the name, and it means “elf ruler,” so it’s pretty timeless in my opinion.
I think it’s trendy. In 60 years there will be lots of grandmas named [name_u]Aubrey[/name_u], kind of like what we think of [name_f]Brenda[/name_f] or [name_f]Sheila[/name_f] now.
It’s a very time-specific name, like almost any other that rose a lot in the charts in a short amount of time and will plummet at one point. It is definitely not timeless [name_f]Audrey[/name_f] (which would go great with big brother [name_m]Alexander[/name_m]).
However, I don’t think you shouldn’t use the name you love because it’s trendy.
[name_u]Aubrey[/name_u] [name_f]Ann[/name_f] sounds very nice.
Yeah, it is.
