Girl and boy name to me. I would never think bird.

I would assume [name_u]Avi[/name_u] to be a boy, though I wouldn’t be surprised to hear it on a girl. I think of it as a “bird name” in that it could be (but is not necessarily) related to birds, but I don’t think of it as a name OF or FOR a bird, if that’s what you mean…

I’ve seen it on both boy and girl, but not sure what the bird tie is.

I didn’t vote only because I think it’s unisex enough! I definitely think [name_f]Avis[/name_f], but I don’t think that makes it a bird name only? [name_f]My[/name_f] first thought is a boy’s name because of the author but it would work for any gender!
