Is Benjamin too boring?

is [name_m]Benjamin[/name_m] too boring and common? I am so over boy names! we need a name that is international as we live all over the place … there are other names I love more but can not use as they wont work internationally. [name_m]How[/name_m] many [name_m]Benjamin[/name_m]'s do you know?

I don’t know about boring, but it’s definitely super common. I can think of three I personally know and a LOT more than that whom I’ve met over the years, as well as quite a few I haven’t met but know of (e.g. my sister’s friends, guys at my school I’ve never really talked to, etc.) Also, pretty much every [name_m]Benjamin[/name_m] I’ve ever come across goes by [name_m]Ben[/name_m], so if you don’t like that you should definitely scrap it- normally I say people have a fair bit of choice in using a nickname but this seems like one of the cases where you wouldn’t.

Personally I’ve never met one but I always thought it made a fine middle name. I also agree with the pp about most Benjamins going by [name_m]Ben[/name_m] and for me that’d be a deal breaker.

I think [name_m]Benjamin[/name_m] is a fine name. One of my cousins is a [name_m]Ben[/name_m], and I went to school with a few Benjamins. I haven’t met nearly as many Benjamins as you might expect.

I think “boring” depends on the person… I really don’t like it, but that’s just me. As for common, yes, it’s super common (another thing that puts me off). I know a handful of [name_m]Ben[/name_m]'s.

If you like it, there’s nothing wrong with it. But the truthful answer is, it’s not the most interesting name. No offense.

Personally, I find it a little boring
I live in Greece so I havent met any, but [name_m]Ive[/name_m] seen this name enough on nameberry to be tired of it

Not at all! We love [name_m]Benjamin[/name_m] and definitely plan on using it if we have a son. We’ll call him [name_m]Benji[/name_m].

I’ve known a couple of [name_m]Ben[/name_m]/Benjamins but I’ve known many more [name_m]Lucas[/name_m]’, Olivers and Jacksons. So it doesn’t seem too popular to me.

[name_m]Benjamin[/name_m] is not a boring name, it’s a strong solid classic name, familiar and not as common (in my mind anyway) as other classics like [name_m]Christopher[/name_m], [name_m]Robert[/name_m], [name_m]Matthew[/name_m] and [name_m]Steven[/name_m]. In the end popularity doesn’t matter it’s whether you love the name enough to use it.

[name_m]Benjamin[/name_m] is great  I actually think it sounds really fresh compared to many of the same old names you hear everyday (and I mean that in connection to the kids being born these days, not the adolescent or adult population).

I love it, I think it’s a very handsome name

I love [name_m]Benjamin[/name_m]. My nephew is [name_m]Benjamin[/name_m], but he goes by [name_m]Ben[/name_m], [name_m]Benji[/name_m], [name_m]Ben[/name_m]-[name_m]Ben[/name_m], [name_m]Benny[/name_m] and then his full name as well. I think that makes it a lot less boring (unlike names like [name_u]Noah[/name_u] and [name_m]Ethan[/name_m]…where do you go from there, y’know?) I’m around kids ranging from infant-5 years daily with my own kids and there is a [name_m]Benjamin[/name_m] who strictly goes by [name_m]Benji[/name_m] at their school and there is a [name_m]Ben[/name_m] on my daughter’s soccer team, but I think I’ve heard his mom say [name_u]Bentley[/name_u] as well. Overall, compared to names with 10 different spellings ([name_m]Jackson[/name_m], [name_u]Aiden[/name_u], etc.) it’s not that popular.

I think it’s boring, but does that matter if YOU love it? Everyone has different tastes.

It’s a nice name with a long history of usage. Nothing wrong with that.
