Is Bronte a usuable girl name?

I quite like it.
Also, do you like any of these?
[name]Arwen[/name]
[name]Anwen[/name]
[name]Bronwen[/name]

*Not pregnant, just looking at options.

I like [name]Bronwen[/name] as the ‘wen’ part helps to soften out the hardness of the first syllable. With [name]Bronte[/name] you have the whole writers surname association and then the sound just isn’t that nice either. ‘[name]Bron[/name]-tee’ is two very hard sounds next to each other.

[name]Bronwen[/name] is my favorite. I could see [name]Bronte[/name] getting mispronounced, and aren’t there accent marks above the “e”?

Yes two dots like the ones that should be above [name]Zoe[/name] and [name]Chloe[/name].

I love the names [name]Bronte[/name] and [name]Arwen[/name]. Not a big fan of [name]Bronwen[/name]/[name]Bronwyn[/name]

I like [name]Arwen[/name], [name]Anwen[/name], and [name]Bronwen[/name]! [name]Bronte[/name] just makes me think of brontosauruses I’m afraid

My 2 year old daughter has a little friend in her daycare class named [name]Bronte[/name]. I admit it’s the first time I ever heard the name. I immediately thought of brontasaurus as the family pronounces her name Bront-ay. It’s grown on me now of course b/c the little girl is so sweet. I certainly think it’s usable but people may not be used to it at first but that’s ok. I get questions all the time about my daughter’s name. For the record, [name]Bronwen[/name]/[name]Bronwyn[/name] is my fav of all your names.

[name]Bronte[/name]: [name]Emily[/name] [name]Bronte[/name]'s surname is pronounced ‘bron-tee’. I don’t think it fits as a first name as too many people will pronounce/spell it incorrectly, which will be a hassle for you and your child throughout life! I also think it sounds quite harsh, and not very feminine. However, if you have a connection with [name]Emily[/name] [name]Bronte[/name] and her books, then I think it would be a great, meaningful middle name!

[name]Arwen[/name]: Too masculine.
[name]Anwen[/name]: Too masculine.

[name]Bronwen[/name]: I know someone called [name]Bronwen[/name] - she was named it because of her Welsh roots. I don’t particularly like the name in full, but everyone called her Bronnie, which I think is really pretty!

I like [name]Bronte[/name] a lot - the association with the books is great! Are you planning to pronounce it Bront-ay or Bront-ee? I like Bront-ay better, I think.
I like [name]Arwen[/name] more than [name]Anwen[/name], but the [name]Lord[/name] of the Rings connections seems a little weird to me … have you considered [name]Arden[/name]? I once knew a girl named Aven and always liked her name as well.

I know a girl called [name]Bronte[/name] who is around 15 and I’ve always had mixed feelings about it, although I do love that it means “thunder”. Although I don’t love the name so much, I definitely think it’s usable

I like [name]Bronte[/name] but I’m put off with the different pronunciations and the potential teasing of Brontesaurus.

Not keen on [name]Bronwen[/name], [name]Arwen[/name], [name]Anwen[/name] but I do adore [name]Olwen[/name] and [name]Elowen[/name].

[name]Bronte[/name] is quite a nice name but prefer your [name]Anwen[/name] and [name]Bronwen[/name] choices .

I like that [name]Bronte[/name] means thunder, and the literary ties, but the sound is not appealing at all to me. I don’t like [name]Bronwen[/name] either, so I think it’s the -bron- part. It’s very brusque and robust, harsh even for a girl to carry. Reminds me of [name]Bram[/name]. Too masculine sounding.

[name]Arwen[/name] is okay, I’m not enough of a LOTR fan to really be smitten.
I adore [name]Anwen[/name] ^^ [name]Anwen[/name] is my favourite -wen name, [name]Elowen[/name], Merewen, [name]Nolwenn[/name], [name]Olwen[/name] (although this one is a little robust again, enough to make me hesitate), Rosenwen, [name]Arianwen[/name] and Eirwen are also lovely.

[name]Bronte[/name] reminds me of [name]Charlotte[/name], [name]Emily[/name], and [name]Anne[/name].

I’m not sure I like it as a first name because it seems dark and heavy to me.

As for [name]Arwen[/name], [name]Anwen[/name], and [name]Bronwen[/name]:

I like them, but I don’t love them. There isn’t a wow factor for me. Maybe [name]Gwendolyn[/name]? It’s got the “wen” sound you like, is a little different, and lovely too.

I like [name]Bronte[/name] as a mn, but not a first. [name]Just[/name] not a fan of the sound of it and different pronunciation issues.

[name]Arwen[/name], [name]Anwen[/name] and [name]Bronwen[/name] are all really nice. [name]Anwen[/name] is my favorite of the three.

[name]Do[/name] you like [name]Elowen[/name]?

I love [name]Bronte[/name], and would consider it someday. It might end up working out better as a middle name (a la [name]Austen[/name], another author surname that I would consider using a little girl’s middle name), but I wouldn’t count it out.

Yes, it does have a very hard sound, and yes, it might be difficult to pronounce. (Though perhaps less so with the accent marks, strange as that may seem.) I’ve heard both Bront-ee and Bront-ay, though I prefer the former.

The [name]Bronte[/name] sisters were hugely influential–they’d be great namesakes. Very windswept, very romantic. Wuthering Heights is one of my favorite books, so I might be biased.

I have met several Brontes (at least 3). They have all been pronounced [name]Bron[/name]-tee. For my personal taste it is a little harsh but I think it is a nice name and perfectly usable

i know a little girl called [name]Bronte[/name] and its adorable on her, it works fine but i dont like any of the other names you put down.

I actually know a [name]Bronte[/name], she is 7. When I first heard her name, I have to say , I was not sure what it was. As soon as I saw it spelled it made perfect sense to me.

I love the name [name]Bronte[/name]!
