is Caitlyn (any spelling) dated?

I thought [name]Caitlyn[/name] (any spelling) was a bit dated even 5-6 years ago but i have met so many of them recently in the 2-5 age range - is it becoming a current classic? am i the only one that finds it dated? i do really like the name but jsut thought its day had passed…

[name]Caitlin[/name] had her heyday in the 1990’s so it’s “dated” for me. However, the trendy spelling [name]Kaitlyn[/name] has overtaken the Irish [name]Caitlin[/name] and was No# 100 in the US last year (2,893 girls) so obviously some people still find it appealing. It has two things going for it: the popular sounds of “ay” and “n” and the fact that it’s Irish. With all of its spelling variations, I’m not surprised that you’re still hearing it.

I feel like it’s been usurped by [name]Caylee[/name]. I think “90s” when I hear it. For a classic take on this genre of name (if that makes any sense) I would go for simply [name]Kate[/name]. I know two women my age (mid thirties) who’ve gone the Hollywood route and picked [name]Cate[/name] recently.

I find it dated. I realize this probably depends somewhat on where you live, but in the 90s and early 2000s peak of [name]Caitlin[/name] (and it’s many, many spellings) I lived in the midwest and of the seven baby girls friends had at the time, three were named a variant of the name. I find all of the double syllable long-a names dated though (ex. [name]Jayden[/name], [name]Kayla[/name], [name]Ayden[/name], etc.)

[name]Caitlin[/name] and all it’s spellings are still going strong here. I love it. [name]One[/name] of my friends and one of my cousins both have a [name]Caitlin[/name]. I love all [name]Kate[/name] variations.

I think so, when I hear it I think of girls my two sisters are friends with and they’re in [name]Jr[/name] high and high school. Pretty name though.

I like it especially spelled [name]Caitlin[/name].

I find it very dated. I think it’s more dated through the 90s & not as classic as one like [name]Emily[/name] that you might still hear on a baby

Yes, 90s name. Many middle school and HS girls with this name varied spelling.

I don’t think [name]Caitlyn[/name] is dated to much. It was popular in the 1990’s, but I think it is coming back. I actually love the name! If its the name you love then you should go for it.

I haven’t met very many Caitlyns. [name]One[/name] is her twenties and the other is less than a year old. I don’t consider it dated and would love to see it become a new classic. I really like it.

[name]Caitlin[/name] is the variation that feels dated to me.

That said, I do know an adorable 2 year old [name]Caitlin[/name].

I don’t consider it too dated yet where I live, but it’s the spelling variations that are still going strong. [name]Katelyn[/name] and [name]Katelynn[/name] seem to be favored spellings around here. I know a 1-year-old [name]Katelynn[/name] and a 2-year-old [name]Larissa[/name] [name]Katelyn[/name]. Personally I prefer the original [name]Caitlin[/name].

Definitely dated. I know at least 10 Caitlins in different spellings, and my legal name starts with a K sound so there are about 3 people in my life who consistently call me [name]Caitlin[/name] just because it’s that common for my age group.

I have college students and an adult acquaintance named [name]Caitlin[/name] (with a K spelling), so it feels a bit dated to me. But if you love it, I don’t see a problem with it. I do prefer the C spelling.

It doesn’t sound dated to me. That is my goddaughter’s name and that spelling.

I think of [name]Caitlin[/name] as being a modern classic, along the lines of [name]Michelle[/name] or [name]Natalie[/name]. Names that didn’t become mainstream or popular until a few decades ago but are still going strong.

i know a 2.5 year old named [name]Kaitlyn[/name]. I love the name, and its one of the few where i’m not averse to the variety of spellings - within reason. [name]Caitlin[/name], [name]Katelyn[/name], and [name]Kaitlyn[/name] are my favorites.

I think it could be considered an upcoming modern classic - it’s well in the top 100 here still. I only like the [name]Caitlin[/name] spelling though.

I know a three year old named [name]Caitlin[/name], I think it’s a really cute name, not as 90s as something like [name]Brittany[/name] or [name]Ashley[/name].
