Is Clarabelle A Cow Name? & Other Thoughts

Like the title says; is [name_f]Clarabelle[/name_f] still consider a cow name? I mean I know one point [name_f]Betsy[/name_f] was considered a cow name(and still do probably), but I’ve heard a few little girls named [name_f]Betsy[/name_f], so why not [name_f]Clarabelle[/name_f]? And what are your thoughts in general of this name? TIA!

I think it could work with a nickname.

I strongly associate it with the fictional cow character, so I personally wouldn’t use it, but it’s just a combination of two perfectly lovely, recognisable names at the same time so I could see it working with a nickname, as mentioned above.

@RileyAddison13 Oh for sure! I mean it’s a bit unavoidable, especially with two names smooshed together.

@planetnames That’s what I was afraid of, the cow association. Dang it Disney.

I think Clarabelle and Betsy are both cow names, but not only cow names! They’re still lovely, especially Clarabelle!

I’ve never heard of [name_f]Betsy[/name_f] being a cow name. I’ve always thought it was [name_f]Bessie[/name_f] that’s the cliche cow name. But anyway, [name_f]Clarabelle[/name_f] I think is highly associated with the Disney character. Maybe not cows in general but definitely that character.

I feel like I have heard of [name_f]Clarabelle[/name_f] being a cow’s name but I don’t specifically know why. If I did meet a [name_f]Clarabelle[/name_f], I wouldn’t immediately think that’s for a cow.

[name_f]Clarabelle[/name_f] is pretty cute but I prefer [name_f]Claribel[/name_f]

I love the Claribel spelling!!

I have no idea what cow characters are named [name_f]Clarabelle[/name_f] and [name_f]Betsy[/name_f] so if it wasn’t for nb, I would have never known they were a name of some cow. I think they are both cute names

Likely because I have a daughter but I hear [name_f]Clarabelle[/name_f] and I immediately think of [name_f]Minnie[/name_f] Mouse’s best friend

I didn’t know [name_f]Clarabelle[/name_f] is a fictional cow name, honestly, but I still do think it sounds a bit bovine! I think @Greyblue’s [name_f]Claribel[/name_f] suggestion feels much sleeker and more wearable.

I don’t think of it as a cow name whatsoever

Is [name_f]Claribel[/name_f] pronounced the same as [name_f]Clarabelle[/name_f]?

It’s really similar but I’d pronounce it a little more like Clah-rih-bell

I love [name_f]Clarabelle[/name_f], even though I do strongly associate it with the disney character. I wouldn’t let that stop you though if you love the name. I mean [name_f]Bessie[/name_f], [name_f]Daisy[/name_f], [name_f]Betsy[/name_f], and anything ending with “Belle” seem to have that bovine connection so I wouldn’t worry about it

I think it has too much teasing potential and would be difficult to wear as it would sound the same, or close, with either spelling.

I definitely think of Clarabelle as a cow name. I also associate both Betsy and Mirabelle as cow names too.

I do associate it with the cow, but I think it’s a lovely useable name!
I would have considered it if my name wasn’t [name_f]Klara[/name_f].

I definitely think of the cow, and I think the association will remain strong even with younger generations given the resurgence of [name_u]Mickey[/name_u] Mouse and related cartoons on Disney+.
