I love the name [name_f]Daisy[/name_f]. It gives me very roaring twenties, Great [name_m]Gatsby[/name_m], [name_f]Daisy[/name_f] [name_m]Buchanan[/name_m] vibes but when I bring it up to people in daily life, I often hear that it is a name that would be cute for a baby but not substantial enough for a grown woman.
What do you guys think?
Combo would be [name_f]Daisy[/name_f] [name_u]Marion[/name_u]
I can see [name_f]Daisy[/name_f] ageing well. I feel like we do see it more as a cute NN as that is what it has been in the recent past but as we discover more names from the distant past (such as the 1920s) and they come back into the trend of names we will see them in a new light. I say go for it! [name_f]Daisy[/name_f] [name_u]Marion[/name_u] is a gorgeous name! It is also stunning next to your sons name.
[name_f]Hope[/name_f] this helps <3
I’m in the minority on this site… I dislike [name_f]Daisy[/name_f]. The one girl I knew with the name was probably 13 years old and it was just way too cutesy on her. She’s the only one I’ve ever known so maybe it was a fluke but she was so athletic and big and muscular that [name_f]Daisy[/name_f] just felt way to cute and tiny to be her name.
That said, there’s nothing wrong with [name_f]Daisy[/name_f]. I’m sure there have been plenty of girls that fit the name to a T at all points in their life.
Thank you for your input!
I agree that a lot of names that were popular 100 years ago are definitely coming back into the spotlight and I’m all about it! I don’t love modern names that much so I’m happy about this trend!

I totally get that! Knowing a person with a certain name can ruin it for you for a lot of different reasons!
I think it ages fine. I’ve met adults called [name_f]Millie[/name_f], [name_f]Poppy[/name_f], [name_f]Lizzie[/name_f], [name_f]Ellie[/name_f], [name_f]Cassie[/name_f] etc so I can totally see [name_f]Daisy[/name_f] working. Equally, names like [name_f]Daisy[/name_f] are being used for kids a lot now so she’ll be growing up in an era of Daisys, Mias, Maisies, Rosies Lilys etc
I agree, I have been seeing a trend of “nicknamey” names being used as full names lately. That being said, do you think it is going to grow in popularity a lot over the next few years? That is something I would like to avoid if possible.
I think [name_f]Daisy[/name_f] is a really cute name. In fact - I see it more annoying to her as a child rather than an adult - what with [name_f]Daisy[/name_f] Duck being a popular children’s character. I think it will age perfectly fine!
Difficult to say. Here in the UK where nicknamey names are a big thing, [name_f]Daisy[/name_f] is actually at number 18 and it’s been in the top 30 for a while now. In the US, it’s at 169 so it’s climbed a little in recent years but not drastically. I guess it totally depends where you are
[name_f]Daisy[/name_f] is sweet. I think it ages well enough. It works well on the Great [name_m]Gatsby[/name_m] character, right? You could always do [name_f]Dorothea[/name_f] nn [name_f]Daisy[/name_f]? Or just [name_f]Dorothy[/name_f] nn [name_f]Daisy[/name_f]. That way she’d have a slightly more professional sounding name to fall back on.
Thank you!!
I’m a Disney lover so I see that as another bonus and cute birthday party there opportunities ”
We are in the US!
I never thought of that! My mother in law loves [name_f]Dorothy[/name_f] for the baby and has suggested [name_f]Dottie[/name_f] in the past! I think she would be all for that!
[name_f]Daisy[/name_f] is fine as full name.
Thank you! I think the combo sounds quite stately as well and I love that it sounds like the name of a girl that could have been born at any time in recent history! Ultra modern names don’t appeal to me much.
I think [name_f]Daisy[/name_f] is very usable as a full name. She would fit in with all the other boys/men and girls/woman that have been/will be named vintage names and/or nickname names. Both popular in UK and becoming more and more popular in US (we seem to follow about a 5-10 years behind UK). I don’t agree with the troubles of employment, being taken seriously, etc that you hear from some people on baby name forums. [name_m]Just[/name_m] take a peek of the names in The House of Representatives, on name boards in lobbies of doctor offices, court rooms, etc. Quite often name enthusiasts on baby forums like to overreact and set-up difficult naming rules for themselves when creating lists. Many of these same people will be humming a much different tune when they are naming a real human being. It’s fun and creative to make lists, very stressing and very difficult for two people (it’s usually two people) to find names they both adore and feel attached to.
BTW I think [name_m]Maxwell[/name_m] and [name_f]Daisy[/name_f] make a great sibling set.
No, I can see [name_f]Daisy[/name_f] aging well. I like your combo of [name_f]Daisy[/name_f] [name_u]Marion[/name_u], too.
I am sorry, but I don’t see [name_f]Daisy[/name_f] as reliable or serious. Reminds me of a roaring 20’s Ditzy Dame. I think it is adorable on a little girl! I can see [name_f]Daisy[/name_f] as a nickname though. Congrats on your baby, hope you have a fast and easy delivery!
I love [name_f]Daisy[/name_f] [name_u]Marion[/name_u]! I have only ever met one [name_f]Daisy[/name_f], she was at university with me (shes probably in her late 20s now), it suited her just fine!
If you’re worried about the name being “too cutesy” you could always use [name_f]Margaret[/name_f] and [name_f]Daisy[/name_f] as a nn (since [name_f]Margaret[/name_f] means [name_f]Daisy[/name_f])… however, [name_f]Margaret[/name_f] [name_u]Marion[/name_u] may be too much of a mouthful?
[name_f]Daisy[/name_f] [name_u]Marion[/name_u] is beautiful and can absolutely work on both a child and adult.
