Is Darla vintage? Or is it just plain dated?

I came across [name_f]Darla[/name_f] on the forums here. And it originally sounded incredibly dated, until it didn’t. It sounded vintage, like something that would be used today. I really like it though I don’t know if I’d use it. So is it dated? Or do you consider it vintage?

Honestly, I can’t stand the name [name_f]Darla[/name_f] but it does have that vintage feel to it.

Definitely vintage from the Depression [name_f]Era[/name_f]. I didn’t think I liked it until I saw it here too but I think it’s super cute and sweet. Dated and very early 20th century but I think that’s a good thing

I don’t know how to categorize it! It’s not really dated to me or vintage…it seems like [name_f]Susannah[/name_f] to me…a very pretty, familiar, underused name. [name_f]Darlene[/name_f] and [name_f]Susan[/name_f] seem dated. [name_f]Darla[/name_f] and [name_f]Susannah[/name_f] seem cheery and unexpected to me.

My friend has a daughter named [name_f]Darla[/name_f], and I love it. I definitely think underused vintage

The only connection I have to the name is [name_m]Little[/name_m] Rascals, so it seems like a cute little girls name to me. Go for it

I would say that [name_f]Darla[/name_f] is retro. Definitely tied to the 1930s, but in a sassy, glamorous way. It is not my style at all, but I can easily see it on a person of any age, at the same time as it bringing to mind black-and-white films and nylons.

I’d say it’s very vintage! I love the name [name_f]Darla[/name_f] myself, because of The [name_m]Little[/name_m] Rascals.

It sounds like a great name to bring back

It’s firmly in the dated camp for me.
