I like the name [name_f]Diamond[/name_f] but I only want to use gender neutral names. According to gender checker it is a unisex name but I’m not so sure. I think it leans female. Opinions? Would a guy named [name_f]Diamond[/name_f] make you look twice?
Does anyone have any names similar to [name_f]Diamond[/name_f] but more gender neutral? I like names starting with “D” but I’m open to any suggestions.
I think of [name_u]Lou[/name_u] [name_f]Diamond[/name_f] [name_m]Phillips[/name_m] when I hear the name.
[name_f]Diamond[/name_f] isn’t really my style but if you like it I don’t think it matters much which way it leans. It really is up to you when it’s a unisex name like this.
Hmm…I would think that it definitely leans female. I know several female Diamonds, but never any males. Still, I suppose it could still work. It’s trendy to take names that are usually used by one gender and use them on children of the opposite gender, so I guess I wouldn’t be surprised to learn of a male [name_f]Diamond[/name_f] (but I would assume the child was female).
I’m not sure that this is any more ‘gender neutral’ but maybe [name_m]Dion[/name_m]?
It leans female in my opinion. You can say it’s technically unisex because it’s a gemstone, but that would be the same for flowers, but [name_f]Rose[/name_f] and [name_f]Lily[/name_f] aren’t considered unisex.
Funny story, this is what my mom wanted to name me because she loves diamonds. My dad suggested [name_f]Diana[/name_f] instead, thankfully! I would’ve hated being [name_f]Diamond[/name_f], it such a tacky name in my opinion.
It’s not as sharp as [name_f]Diamond[/name_f] (which I would agree leans feminine), but [name_u]Devon[/name_u] is solidly unisex. [name_u]Dylan[/name_u] is higher on the boys’ list, but I know of girls named [name_u]Dylan[/name_u] too. And [name_u]Destry[/name_u] is a slightly more fanciful name that I think straddles the feminine/masculine line. Also [name_u]Dallas[/name_u] and [name_u]Denver[/name_u].
I have to agree with this, sorry. It definitely screams girl to me, but I wouldn’t use it for either gender. It is very tacky, and I don’t think your child would appreciate being called [name_f]Diamond[/name_f]. There are plenty of better options out there. Here’s some ideas:
My initial reaction was very “omg that’s a girl’s name”, but the more I think about it the more I actually like it for a boy. I think you could expect that reaction a lot, so as long as you’re ok with that, you could consider it to be unisex. The kid would probably get some double-takes, but people would get used to it a lot easier than if you named a boy something like [name_f]Lily[/name_f].
Personally, I see feminine. I think [name_u]Lou[/name_u] [name_f]Diamond[/name_f] [name_m]Phillips[/name_m] works because you’re always using his full name. So, as a middle for a boy it could work. Not saying you could not use it, but if you’re looking for something truly unisex I wouldn’t put it in that catagory. I think [name_u]Dylan[/name_u], [name_u]Cameron[/name_u], [name_m]Aston[/name_m] are, or if you’re looking for unisex gemstones… maybe [name_u]Ruby[/name_u].
If you had me guess whether [name_f]Diamond[/name_f] was a male or a female, I would guess female, but I wouldn’t automatically assume that. If I met a male named [name_f]Diamond[/name_f], I wouldn’t think twice about it.
I would find it weird as a first name on any gender if I’m totally honest. I don’t see it as a name at all. I would say definitely female though, along with all the other gemstone name; [name_u]Ruby[/name_u], [name_f]Sapphire[/name_f], [name_f]Opal[/name_f], [name_f]Amethyst[/name_f].
I guess if it was in the middle spot on a boy though it could work
