We are currently expecting #12. We are loving [name_f]Elena[/name_f] for a girl but are worried it’s too close to our youngest son, [name_u]Elias[/name_u].
We pronounce [name_f]Elena[/name_f] the Spanish way, ‘eh-Leh-nah’
We are really torn on this one. What are your thoughts?
Thanks so much in advance.
Yeah, too close for me too. Sorry.

I actually know siblings with these names! I don’t find them too close, if they’re the ones you love dearly.

I don’t think they’re too close.

Thank you for your reply. We also love [name_f]Julia[/name_f], but dislike the way it sounds in Spanish. So we were thinking [name_f]Elena[/name_f] [name_f]Julia[/name_f]. We aren’t super picky about flow.
So hard to decide!
I find [name_f]Lena[/name_f] fine but [name_f]Elena[/name_f] more similar (not that similar though)
What about [name_f]Marlena[/name_f] too?

Nope, I think these two are surprisingly yet safely far enough apart

I think with this pronunciation, you should be fine, but they are quite close

A bit of a tweak……Helena and [name_u]Elias[/name_u] are nice together if you may consider swapping [name_f]Elena[/name_f] for [name_f]Helena[/name_f]. [name_f]Elena[/name_f] could be your family nickname for [name_f]Helena[/name_f].

I think they’re just a bit too close for siblings

I think [name_f]Helena[/name_f] is beautiful also, but I can’t help but see ‘hell’, and for that reason alone, I prefer [name_f]Elena[/name_f].
I think it’s fine especially with such a big family - different if l, say, three kids where two are [name_u]Elias[/name_u] and [name_f]Elena[/name_f] and one on their own.

I have a friend who has a daughter named [name_f]Elena[/name_f] and then she also has a younger boy named [name_u]Elias[/name_u]! I think it works just fine
