Personally I don’t consider [name_m]Eric[/name_m] a classic and for me it sounds a bit dated. However, I love the idea of [name_m]Ivan[/name_m] and [name_m]Erik[/name_m] as siblings. That being said, it sounds like you are trying very hard to talk yourself into the idea of [name_m]Eric[/name_m]/[name_m]Erik[/name_m] and don’t love it like you love [name_m]Ivan[/name_m]’s name. I say keep looking!

[name_m]Erik[/name_m] would work very well with [name_m]Ivan[/name_m]. I don’t necessarily consider [name_m]Eric[/name_m] a classic, but it definitely not dated. Congratulations.

[name_m]Erik[/name_m] would be wonderful with [name_m]Ivan[/name_m]! I don’t consider it a “classic” exactly as it’s never really been that common, but nor is it terribly dated. I definitely think the -k spelling feels fresher - it has a sort of Viking cool factor to it and fits perfectly with slightly exotic [name_m]Ivan[/name_m].

I’m not 100% on Eric [name_m]Ric[/name_m]hard but again the -k spelling mitigates that.

The k spelling helps for sure.

With [name_m]Ivan[/name_m] I think of
Slavic: [name_m]Anton[/name_m], [name_m]Casimir[/name_m], [name_m]Dimitri[/name_m], [name_u]Dominik[/name_u], [name_m]Konrad[/name_m], Nikoli, [name_m]Victor[/name_m]
Timeless but exotic like [name_m]Ivan[/name_m]: [name_m]Alexander[/name_m], [name_m]Anton[/name_m], [name_m]Byron[/name_m], [name_m]Julian[/name_m], [name_m]Marcus[/name_m], [name_m]Raphael[/name_m], [name_m]Tomas[/name_m], [name_m]Vincent[/name_m]

For [name_m]Eric[/name_m]/k I think of Phantom of the [name_f]Opera[/name_f], so it seems classic to me.

Others that are literary classics or authors or go with [name_m]Ivan[/name_m] in my mind:
[name_m]Fyodor[/name_m] /[name_m]Theodore[/name_m]
[name_u]Robin[/name_u] ([name_m]Ivanhoe[/name_m] and [name_u]Robin[/name_u] Hood)
[name_m]Nikolai[/name_m]/[name_m]Nicolas[/name_m]
[name_m]Edmund[/name_m]
[name_m]Hugo[/name_m]
[name_u]Vern[/name_u]
[name_m]Vincent[/name_m]/[name_m]Vicente[/name_m]
[name_m]Johannes[/name_m]
[name_m]Alexei[/name_m]

Personally, I wouldn’t consider [name_m]Eric[/name_m] a classic, and I do find it very dated, but that said, [name_m]Eric[/name_m] [name_m]Richard[/name_m], stylistically, would fit beautifully with [name_m]Ivan[/name_m] [name_m]Warren[/name_m] ([name_m]Ivan[/name_m] & [name_m]Erik[/name_m], however, would be perfect). I immediately noticed the -ric [name_m]Ric[/name_m]- between the [name_m]Eric[/name_m] [name_m]Richard[/name_m], but due to the different C sounds in both names, it’s not too bad, and also, if spelled [name_m]Erik[/name_m], it even further squashes that repeated joint between the two names.

[name_m]Eric[/name_m] has been in use for a long time, so in that regard it is sort of classic. It does have a dated feel to me personally, though. However, spelling it [name_m]Erik[/name_m] seems to liven it up a little, and I think it pairs nicely with [name_m]Ivan[/name_m].

It does feel a bit like a dad name to me. However, it’s worth noting that [name_m]Eric[/name_m] didn’t fall out of the US top 100 until 2011. I think it would be handsome and unexpected on a baby boy.

I would consider it a dated classic because it’s been used for many years but got popular and is mostly associated with one period of time. I do however like [name_m]Eric[/name_m]/[name_m]Erik[/name_m] as a name and as a sibling to [name_m]Ivan[/name_m]. I think that [name_m]Erik[/name_m] would be the best spelling both in style with [name_m]Ivan[/name_m] and to eliminate the e[name_m]RIC[/name_m] [name_m]RIChard[/name_m] spelling flow.

My husband is willing to agree to the [name_m]Erik[/name_m] spelling of the name. My one hesitation with that is that he will spend his life with people misspelling his name. I mean there are worse things in the world then having to correct the spelling of your name, but still.

Also I can’t think of any nick names for [name_m]Erik[/name_m]/[name_m]Eric[/name_m] other then [name_m]Ric[/name_m]. While [name_m]Ivan[/name_m] goes by [name_m]Ives[/name_m], [name_u]Van[/name_u], or [name_m]Vanya[/name_m]; [name_m]Eric[/name_m] would just kind of be on his own.

But I do like how the names look together, and I feel like [name_m]Ivan[/name_m] and [name_m]Eric[/name_m]/k sound like brothers. I kind of feel like I might just have to accept that second child’s name might hold a little less magic for me then the first born. (Unless it’s a girl and then I’m over the moon for [name_f]Josephine[/name_f])

I definitely feel it’s a classic and I prefer the [name_m]Eric[/name_m] spelling. I’d have it on my list if my last name didn’t begin with C!

My older brother is [name_m]Erik[/name_m] with a K. I’m probably bias but I like that spelling so much more. Granted it is always spelled wrong, but once people learn it’s a K it is spelled right. I feel like [name_m]Erik[/name_m] ages better compared to [name_m]Eric[/name_m]. It’s like [name_f]Debra[/name_f] vs. [name_f]Deborah[/name_f]. My mom is a [name_f]Deborah[/name_f] and her name is always spelled wrong. But after people learn how to spell it it’s fine.

I think it’s classic. The K makes it perfect with [name_m]Ivan[/name_m].

[name_m]Erik[/name_m] [name_m]Magnus[/name_m] after Magneto.

I really appreciate the feed back! Not sure where we are going to land on the name, but it’s nice to get feedback on this option!

I think [name_m]Ivan[/name_m] and [name_m]Erik[/name_m] sound great together, but if you don’t love it have you considered other “ric” names?
