[name_m]Hi[/name_m] everyone!
[name_m]Just[/name_m] wondering, do you think [name_f]Evie[/name_f] or [name_f]Ellie[/name_f] is more mature / less juvenile for a teenager / young woman? Which ages better?
Thank you!
[name_m]Hi[/name_m] everyone!
[name_m]Just[/name_m] wondering, do you think [name_f]Evie[/name_f] or [name_f]Ellie[/name_f] is more mature / less juvenile for a teenager / young woman? Which ages better?
Thank you!
Both are more commonly nicknames than legal given names with [name_f]Evie[/name_f] typically short for [name_f]Eve[/name_f], [name_f]Eva[/name_f] or [name_u]Evelyn[/name_u] and [name_f]Ellie[/name_f] typically short for [name_f]Ellen[/name_f], [name_f]Eleanor[/name_f] or [name_f]Elinor[/name_f]. However, as legal given names, I think they would work equally well on a little girl or an old woman but I think [name_f]Ellie[/name_f] would work better on a young woman.
[name_f]Evie[/name_f] sounds older to me but not necessarily more sophisticated or responsible than [name_f]Ellie[/name_f]
I love them both so much, I think they both work amazingly
I love them both so much!! However, I do think they work better as nicknames for a longer name.
[name_f]Ellie[/name_f]: [name_f]Eleanor[/name_f], [name_f]Eleanora[/name_f], [name_f]Elena[/name_f], [name_f]Eloise[/name_f], [name_f]Eloisa[/name_f], [name_f]Elodie[/name_f], [name_f]Elsa[/name_f], [name_f]Elise[/name_f], [name_u]Elisa[/name_u], [name_f]Eliza[/name_f], [name_f]Elisabeth[/name_f], [name_f]Elizabeth[/name_f], [name_f]Isabel[/name_f], [name_f]Isabelle[/name_f], [name_f]Isabella[/name_f]
[name_f]Evie[/name_f]: [name_u]Evelyn[/name_u], [name_f]Eva[/name_f], [name_f]Eve[/name_f], [name_u]Everly[/name_u], [name_f]Everleigh[/name_f], [name_f]Eveline[/name_f], [name_f]Evelina[/name_f]
I think that [name_f]Ellie[/name_f] ages better but both are fine. I just dislike [name_f]Evie[/name_f] myself, while I somehow like [name_f]Ellie[/name_f] :))
I’ve met teens and young women named both. They work nicely! Full names like [name_f]Elizabeth[/name_f] or [name_f]Evangeline[/name_f] might make a nice balance for classic versus cutesy.
I find [name_f]Evie[/name_f] more mature. I think of [name_f]Rachel[/name_f] Weisz’s character (short for Evelyn) in The Mummy.
[name_f]Evie[/name_f]. Both are cute but [name_f]Evie[/name_f] has a little bit more of an edge to it so I can imagine it suiting an adult a bit better than [name_f]Ellie[/name_f] but I also strongly prefer [name_f]Evie[/name_f] so that might be influencing my perception.
Both strike me as able to mature, maybe as I’ve grown up with both, so I know Evies and Ellies my age
But if I had to pick, I’d say [name_f]Ellie[/name_f], possibly because I know more adult Ellies than adult Evies?
I don’t know anyone called [name_f]Evie[/name_f] who is older than I am (22), whereas I have heard of many people older named [name_f]Ellie[/name_f].
Because of that, I would say [name_f]Ellie[/name_f]!
I wouldn’t use either as a full name, but I think [name_f]Evie[/name_f] ages better and sounds nicer.
[name_f]Evie[/name_f] is more mature sounding.
i’ve met adults named both !! i think evie has a possibly more mature sound, but ellie is more common, and therefore feels more versatile and less surprising on any kind of person.
i think both are alr, but ellie sounds more “juvenile” than evie. like i feel like someone older can pull off evie better than ellie
I think both nicknames can work on an older woman. However, of the two I think [name_f]Ellie[/name_f] ages the best. For some reason, it sounds less “cutesy” to me.
I don’t think either are too juvenile. If i had to pick, i’d say [name_f]Evie[/name_f] but i know older teenagers [name_f]Ellie[/name_f] and [name_f]Evie[/name_f] and they wear their names well.
Equal to me
i feel as though i’ve met more people with evie as a standalone name than people with ellie as a standalone name, so i’d say evie.
I’d say Evie… but both have option to shorten to [name_f]Eve[/name_f] and [name_f]Elle[/name_f] which both sound more mature imo.
