Hello berries! I’ve been lurking for a while but this is my first real post .
I have a trio of boy names that I love, but I was wondering if one of them was too nerdy. The names are Alexander Henry, Sebastian Cole and Franklin Leo, but looking back, I realized that while I think the name Franklin is adorable, it seems dated and nerdy. I was wondering what your guys’ opinions were. I think it’s cute, but it might stand out compared to his brother’s names. (If I had boys, I’d definitely name them Alexander and Sebastian!)
So what do you guys think? Is it too nerdy? If so, any other names you suggest? My favorite names are three syllables with nickname options, and old-fashioned. I’m not a huge fan of trendy names. Some examples:
Oliver
Christopher
Nicholas
Leonardo
Isaiah
[name_m]Franklin[/name_m] is nerdy but in a cute, ready-for-revival way! It does feel a bit less regal than [name_m]Alexander[/name_m] and [name_m]Sebastian[/name_m], but it’s not a total departure in style. I do think [name_m]Nicholas[/name_m], [name_m]Christopher[/name_m], [name_m]Leonardo[/name_m], and [name_m]Oliver[/name_m] also work really well with this set.
Honestly when I think of [name_m]Franklin[/name_m] my first thought is the turtle from the show. While it currently seems a bit more dated than the rest of your list, I think it is probably close to a revival and so wouldn’t seem dated for people of your future children’s generation. I think [name_m]Franklin[/name_m] and [name_m]Isaiah[/name_m] are both slightly different stylistically than the rest of your list, but not in a way that feels out of place.
[name_m]Franklin[/name_m] fits in well with other vintage names that are coming back into style so a little [name_m]Franklin[/name_m] wouldn’t stand out as having an exceptionally old school name. I really like it.
I love [name_m]Raphael[/name_m] and [name_m]Tobias[/name_m], thanks for the suggestions! I also think of the turtle haha, but I hope that’s not a terrible comparison. I’ve really liked all the vintage names coming back, classic yet not boring.
[name_m]Franklin[/name_m] sounds very current and ready for revival. I know a boy named [name_m]Frank[/name_m], and a [name_m]Franklin[/name_m] who gets called [name_f]Frankie[/name_f] (I also know several girls named [name_f]Frankie[/name_f], which may or may not bother you). I think it’s cute and very wearable, and fits in well with [name_m]Alexander[/name_m] and [name_m]Sebastian[/name_m].
Maybe it’s where I am, but I actually find [name_m]Franklin[/name_m] is pretty cool! I don’t think it stands out! I associate it with [name_m]Franklin[/name_m] [name_m]Blake[/name_m] in The Moonstone by [name_m]Wilkie[/name_m] [name_f]Collins[/name_f], so it’s got a literary, Victorian, cool feel.
