Is GAS bad?

Grant [name_m]Alexander[/name_m] is very handsome. I can see the pickle you’re in!

I’d personally look for something else, because people sometimes go by their first two initials and then their last name professionally, like:

Dr. G. A. [name_m]Smith[/name_m]
or
** book **
by G.A. [name_m]Smith[/name_m]

The word gas is really apparent in that format.

I also think in the username generation it might be more likely to come up. I know people whose usernames are like gasmith for example.

I’d say unless you absolutely cannot fathom using any other name than [name_m]Grant[/name_m] [name_m]Alexander[/name_m] in that order, I’d look at shuffling it around. I love the suggestion of [name_m]Alexander[/name_m] [name_m]Grant[/name_m] and he goes by his middle name! A.G. [name_m]Smith[/name_m] looks great too.

Initials are rarely used and middle ones hardly ever. I have a baby and haven’t come across monograms at all. Maybe only first letter of first name if anything! When older you just need initials for signing documents and he would just use GS. I dont think mentioning his middle name and initials will ever come up at the same time.

But its something you would know and may bother you.

Grant [name_m]Alexander[/name_m] is beautiful- may be worth it

Or you could still honor [name_m]Alexander[/name_m] by going with [name_m]Xander[/name_m], [name_m]Evander[/name_m], [name_m]Lysander[/name_m] or [name_m]Leander[/name_m]. The “ander” part would still pay homage.

All options are really nice.

GAS isn’t bad.
I have a friend of the family that gave her kid the initials GERM. Apparently they didn’t realize until after bringing the kid home and announcing his name. Haha

I think it would best be avoided-- but if [name_m]Alexander[/name_m] is super important to you, use it! it won’t matter much in the long run

Hmm. I would say GAS initials are not ideal, but I don’t think it’s terrible or unusable. If he ever has to sign his initials at work/school, he could just use GS instead of GAS.

I agree.

I like the other suggestions of alternative versions of [name_m]Alexander[/name_m] or a double middle. I agree with you that [name_m]Grant[/name_m] [name_u]Jackson[/name_u] is a bit southern general. [name_m]Newton[/name_m] is a fun choice. [name_m]Grant[/name_m] and [name_m]Newton[/name_m] run into each other a bit for me. [name_f]Do[/name_f] you find that when you say them together? Would you consider one of your honor names as a first and save [name_m]Grant[/name_m]? Ex. [name_m]Newton[/name_m] [name_m]Alexander[/name_m] or put [name_m]Grant[/name_m] in the middle: [name_m]Alexander[/name_m] [name_m]Grant[/name_m]

I think it is fine to use. In the big scheme of things, monograms are not that important, and even if you feel that you would really like to have some, I would use either G or GS. I agree with others who have pointed out that we seldom use our middle names. [name_f]My[/name_f] initials don’t spell anything but when I initial something I typically only use my first and last initial. It is much more important to honour someone important to you than what the initials spell, and it isn’t an obscene word anyway.

I think it’s not the best choice. [name_m]Can[/name_m] you just add second middle to avoid the issue? [name_m]Grant[/name_m] [name_m]Alexander[/name_m] [name_m]Renn[/name_m] LastName.

Well I absolutely love [name_m]Alexander[/name_m] as I have one myself. [name_m]Grant[/name_m] is refreshing too it’s my bros middle name and you don’t hear it very often. Have you considered a very short middle to break up the initials?
[name_m]Grant[/name_m] [name_u]Fox[/name_u] [name_m]Alexander[/name_m]
[name_m]Grant[/name_m] [name_u]Eli[/name_u] [name_m]Alexander[/name_m] etc
And they could work the other way round. [name_m]Grant[/name_m] [name_m]Alexander[/name_m] [name_u]Fox[/name_u] [name_m]Grant[/name_m] [name_m]Alexander[/name_m] [name_u]Eli[/name_u]

LOL this is not a big deal. Monograms usually put the surname initial in the middle anyway.

I would not appreciate having these initials, so I can’t help that think someone else might be bothered by them too :woman_shrugging:

The names themselves are great though, so I agree with the above posters that have suggested adding an extra middle to break up the initials

I don’t think it’s too bad, and here’s why:
How often do you write out your first, middle, and last name besides on official forms? [name_m]Even[/name_m] on forms, last name is first, usually. I don’t the kid would care that much. It’s not like it’s a curse word or slur.
The only time you really write your initials is to mark something, right? And even so, do you write your middle? I only write my first and last initial, and your kid could do that if they wanted.
If you really hate GAS, what about [name_m]Alexander[/name_m] [name_m]Grant[/name_m]? It still has a similar vibe and lots of people go by their middle name, so your kid could do that when they’re older
