Is GAS bad?

I really love the name [name_m]Grant[/name_m] [name_m]Alexander[/name_m], but my surname is S. Is this a big deal?

I think it is, sorry. I know I would hate to have the initials GAS. Maybe you could add a second middle name to interrupt the initials?

Maybe [name_m]Evander[/name_m], [name_m]Xander[/name_m], [name_m]Lysander[/name_m], or [name_m]Leander[/name_m] as a middle?

I really love [name_m]Grant[/name_m], and [name_m]Alexander[/name_m] was my grandpa’s middle name. [name_m]Alexander[/name_m] [name_m]Grant[/name_m] is a famous relative. Husband’s ancestor was that guy who founded the [name_u]Free[/name_u] County of [name_m]Jones[/name_m], but he was a huge creeper irl. However, I like his name [name_m]Newton[/name_m]. Also, [name_u]Jackson[/name_u] happens to be a family name of his. I’m originally from the [name_u]North[/name_u], he’s [name_u]Southern[/name_u], so kinda funny. I like the sound of [name_m]Grant[/name_m] [name_u]Jackson[/name_u], but that’s a bit too civil war for me.

Maybe [name_m]Grant[/name_m] [name_m]Newton[/name_m] and [name_m]Alexander[/name_m] [name_u]Jackson[/name_u]? [name_u]Or[/name_u] too many ons?

Honestly I don’t think it’s that bad, but it still isn’t super great. It’s better than @ss or something like that though

I don’t think it’s too bad

I might avoid it. It’s not bad, but I had a classmate whose initials were AMS, which was changed to A55 on a few things.

Maybe:
[name_m]Grant[/name_m] [name_m]Xander[/name_m]
Grant [name_m]Xavier[/name_m]
[name_m]Grant[/name_m] [name_m]Leander[/name_m]

It’s not great, maybe add another name in the middle, so there are two middles?

unless you plan on having a ton of monograms i don’t think it matters too much. the kid’s classmates aren’t going to know his middle name unless he tells them. he might not like it, but honestly i doubt he would make the connection until he was old enough to just laugh it off. my initials are EW and no one ever noticed even though obviously my first and last names were everywhere. if you love the names, go for it.

It’s not a big deal, nobody goes by all three initials. He’ll be known as G.S.

I do think it’s too much, I’m sorry - kids are really mean, they are bound to tease him. I think [name_m]Grant[/name_m] [name_m]Evander[/name_m] or Grand [name_m]Lysander[/name_m] sound just as good as [name_m]Grant[/name_m] [name_m]Alexander[/name_m].

There are professions where initials are put on everything. I’m a pharmacist and my initials literally go on everything. I’m sure there are other professions where this might be true as well… I’d avoid GAS. There’s been a lot of great alternatives suggested.

And I love the name [name_m]Grant[/name_m]!!!

Personally, I dont think many people will notice. Middle initials arent commonly written or seen by alot of people, so I doubt people would even know his initials spell GAS, they’d only really know about GS. I don’t really think GAS is that bad either, to me it’s just the state of matter, which I find kind of cool.
If you find yourself hesitating, there’s plenty of great suggestions and alternatives!

You can always use GS as a monogram. Not a deal breaker :sunglasses:

I don’t think it’s that important. I know a ton of people who refuse to share their middle name, so it’s not like it had to be public knowledge amongst his school friends.

I agree with this, no one will know his middle and even if they do how often do you think about other people’s initials even when you know their middle name? Unless you are planning on having everything monogrammed I don’t think it would be a big deal.

Another option is to use [name_m]Alexander[/name_m] [name_m]Grant[/name_m] S. and have him go by his middle name. It’s actually a very common practice, and most people wouldn’t question it at all.

ETA: Monogram would be GSA, so no problem with that spelling anything. Initials would be another thing altogether.

Many people won’t know his middle initial so it’s fine. When I meet people I don’t think of their initials :man_shrugging:

A user here said their initials are AS* and that was never an issue.

Grant [name_m]Alexander[/name_m] is so handsome that I think that trumps a slightly humorous monogram.

Well put! :joy: I guess he’d be male, probably something he’d brag about.
