Is Halliday legit?

I kinda like the name- it seems light and carefree. But is it a name? A legitimate name? I’m not a fan of invented names or creative names, but I can’t tell if this a someone changing holidays spelling or if it’s a version of it?
Thoughts and impressions?
I think I would occasionally use the nickname daisy.

It doesn’t seem like a real name to me?

It seems to be a variant of the last name [name_f]Holladay[/name_f]. I personally don’t care for it because all I see is “holiday” but pronounced with a [name_m]Boston[/name_m] accent.

I know it as a surname. I think that it is too close to [name_f]Holiday[/name_f] to crossover as a given name though and people would probably mishear it / assume that the name is [name_f]Holiday[/name_f].

Halliday is a perfectly legitimate English surname, clearly meaning “holy day” or holiday. However, it does not have a history of being used as a first name — though it’s possible that there might be some examples of people using a family surname as a given name.

I believe it’s a surname.

It’s a surname. [name_u]Roy[/name_u] Halladay is a recently retired [name_m]Major[/name_m] League Baseball player/ace pitcher.

Yes, this is what I thought of. To me, surnames are fair game as first names (assuming it’s not an unpleasant surname…like Buttburn or something.). At the top of my list is [name_f]Holiday[/name_f], but Halliday is nice too. I would love Halliday nn [name_u]Halle[/name_u]!
