Before we knew it was a boy (I felt it, but hubs didn’t believe me), I was calling our mystery baby “[name]Beckett[/name]”. At the time my husband didn’t like the name at all and I wasn’t even sure it was a boy 100%. It almost became a joke… I would call him “[name]Beckett[/name]” and my hubs would roll his eyes or reply with “bucket”.
So when we found out it was a boy, my husband decided he liked the name. Now I’m stuck, because I’m not sure if I really like it 100% in the beginning or was just using it to tease my hubs. However, it does feel like the babies name. Whenever I think of him, I think “[name]Beckett[/name]”, because I had been calling him that so long before.
We have tried out other names for a couple weeks and nothing seems right ([name]Liam[/name] does, but oh the popularity slays me). We’ve tried [name]Dominic[/name], [name]Gideon[/name] and [name]Evan[/name]…while I want to love [name]Dominic[/name] (grandpa’s name), it just didn’t feel right.
So I’m stuck…I can’t figure out if I honestly just love “[name]Beckett[/name]” or only am stuck on it because I had been using it.
Any advice for figuring this out?
Here are the other names we’ve agreed on and plan to test run:
I really like [name]Beckett[/name], but if you aren’t 100% sure about it then it probably isn’t the right one. I think that you should be head over heels for you children’s names.
From your list I also really like [name]Liam[/name]. I know [name]Liam[/name] is popular, but I don’t think popularity is a factor that should affect your name choosing process. If it felt right, go with it. And I think you could use [name]Dominic[/name] as a middle name, because then you can have a little family significance in there. I think [name]Liam[/name] [name]Dominic[/name] works really nicely.
Yeah, I am with you on the mn thinking. That was my other hesitation with using [name]Beckett[/name], the mn [name]Dominic[/name] doesn’t sound right…[name]Beckett[/name] [name]Dominic[/name]. If I don’t use [name]Dominic[/name] for a first name I would love it as a mn. I can’t really do that with [name]Beckett[/name]. [name]Liam[/name] [name]Dominic[/name] does sound great together. I just have a feeling the name will sore. I can handle 15, but not the possibility of it rising to 2 or even the top 5.
I think if [name]Beckett[/name] was the one you’d just know. I like the others on your list, especially [name]Liam[/name], [name]Evan[/name] and [name]Dominic[/name]. Would you consider [name]William[/name] with the nn [name]Liam[/name]?
Thought about [name]William[/name], but then realized I would just end up calling him [name]Liam[/name] all the time anyways. Maybe [name]Beckett[/name] is the one and I’m just second guessing.
We’ve been throwing around the name:
[name]Liam[/name] [name]Beckett[/name] now, but then again I’m not honoring my grandpa which I’d like to do. If I can get around that, I think we’d have a name!
call me crazy, but i think the fact that [name]Dominic[/name] is a family name, honoring your grandfather far outweighs the fact that [name]Beckett[/name] [name]Dominic[/name] may not flow the best. but thats my opinion. And honestly, you will rarely say the whole name outright anyway. and since youve been calling the baby [name]Beckett[/name] for so long, it seems that is his name - and its an awesome name!
Here’s my opinion. I personally really like [name]Beckett[/name]. And I might the crazy one but I think [name]Beckett[/name] [name]Dominic[/name] sounds nice. I also quite like [name]Jude[/name] [name]Dominic[/name] or [name]Gideon[/name] [name]Dominic[/name].
aw, thanks so much ladies!! You’re right [name]Beckett[/name] [name]Dominic[/name] does have meaning, far more than [name]Liam[/name] [name]Beckett[/name] ever could. Maybe if I just start calling him [name]Beckett[/name] [name]Dominic[/name], that will grow enough on me and I’ll like the sound. I REALLY do want to love that combo.
I think [name]Beckett[/name] [name]Dominic[/name] sounds fine. While I don’t think it has perfect flow, the meaning is more important (in my opinion). Your son will love the story of how he got his name and will appreciate the connection to his great-grandpa.
Was also going to suggest [name]Beckett[/name] [name]Dominic[/name]! I d on’t mind his flow at all.
My only other suggestion would to go into the birth with a short list, maybe [name]Beckett[/name], [name]Liam[/name] and [name]Dominic[/name], and once you see him feel it out for a bit and maybe his appearance/his presence will help to pick “the” name! I know this certainly helped with us!
I dont know how you feel about two middle manes but would [name]Beckett[/name] [name]Liam[/name] [name]Dominic[/name] not be an option ? I think it is cute and allows you to have a nice ring use a name you love and still honor grandpa.
