Personally I think hope is the strongest thing there is. The last defence when everything seems awful. It can be wild and savage, dusting itself off to try again. [name_f]Hope[/name_f] is one of the most powerful things in the world
I like [name_f]Hope[/name_f] as a name (recently) and I think is one of the strongest [name_f]English[/name_f] names by sound and meaning. It is classic too.
[name_f]Hope[/name_f] is a lovely name and nothing about it’s weak in my opinion. It carries such a delightful quality to it, but the power is in its meaning, complimented more by it’s soft sound!
Why do you specifically want strength from the name? Is there a specific reason?
[name_f]Hope[/name_f] gives you the strength to never give up, the strength to stand up tall even in your lowest moments.
[name_f]Hope[/name_f] is like a reed. It might not look as strong as the oak but it is flexible enough to endure pretty much everything. [name_f]Hope[/name_f] is an eternal ray of positivity, of optimism.
I don’t think it’s weak at all. I know a little girl called [name_f]Hope[/name_f], she is full of life.
[name_m]Just[/name_m] generally speaking I think I struggle with one syllable names as I can’t shorten them that’s just me though
Absolutely not! [name_f]Hope[/name_f] is strong because it is a choice. I would absolutely use [name_f]Hope[/name_f] as a middle name for a daughter (because I prefer longer firsts) because as someone who has struggled with depression, hope is so meaningful and important to me. It is hard fought for.
There are more verses, but that one is my favorite. I interpret it to mean “hope has you even when you don’t have hope.” I also love the Latin saying “dum spiro spero” which translates to “while I breath, I hope.” [name_f]Hope[/name_f] is the thing that gets people through their darkest days. I can’t think of anything stronger.
I agree with the comments that hope is a strong attribute! I think it’s often seen as the lesser to faith, but I don’t think that’s the case. [name_m]Even[/name_m] if it was, how much harder is it to believe when you don’t quite have faith yet? I feel like hope is like the attribute of meekness, often perceived as weak, when in reality, both require a lot of strength and provide a lot of strength! Here are some quotes about hope:
“[Hope] is manifest in confidence, optimism, enthusiasm, and patient perseverance. It is believing and expecting that something will occur. When you have hope, you work through trials and difficulties with the assurance that all things will work together for your good. [name_f]Hope[/name_f] helps you conquer discouragement.” (Preach [name_f]My[/name_f] Gospel pg. 117)
“Hope is the anchor of our souls.” (James E Faust)
I love [name_f]Hope[/name_f]! And don’t feel like anything about it is weak. I do understand what you are saying, but I feel like [name_f]Hope[/name_f] is something you have to truly make a choice for in the hard times, which is anything but weak!
I prefer the possibility of hope - all that it could encompass. [name_f]Faith[/name_f] feels very set, and I guess for me, often unattainable, hope is gentler in some ways, but also brighter, more easy to want and hold
[name_f]Hope[/name_f] is a beautifully powerful thing — and I think that translates well into its name form. I, too, think of the [name_m]Dickinson[/name_m] poem, as well as of perseverance in thee worst of times, of magic and story, of a light heart. [name_f]Hope[/name_f] is all of this and more, and I think it makes her a name of much gravitasse.
