Big thanks to all those that commented on my last thread! We decided on the name [name_f]Iris[/name_f] [name_f]Araminta[/name_f] [name_f]Rose[/name_f].
My issue now is that I was reading comments on the name [name_f]Iris[/name_f] and there were a couple comments that it was too similar to Irish. I never made that connection before but now I can’t stop thinking about it. Whenever anyone ask what her name is I automatically want to say Irish! [name_m]Just[/name_m] yesterday a nurse asked if we choose a name and I do not know if I said [name_f]Iris[/name_f] or Irish! Now I’m wondering if this is a deal breaker? [name_f]Iris[/name_f] is literally the only name my hubby and I have been able to agree on.
So Berries is [name_f]Iris[/name_f] too similar to Irish or am I just over thinking it???
Sidenote: Starting to get a huge name crush on the name [name_f]Guinevere[/name_f]. IDK if I should bring it up to the Hubby and see what he thinks of it? I’m not sure if I want to open up the Name Discussions again when we finally just agreed on a name…
I love [name_f]Iris[/name_f] [name_f]Araminta[/name_f] [name_f]Rose[/name_f]! I’ve never once made the connection between [name_f]Iris[/name_f] and Irish nor have I ever heard anyone mention it before. [name_f]Iris[/name_f] is a darling name. I think you should totally go for it.
[name_f]Iris[/name_f] [name_f]Araminta[/name_f] [name_f]Rose[/name_f] is stunning! Irish has never crossed my mind when seeing or hearing the name [name_f]Iris[/name_f], so I really wouldn’t worry about that. I do love [name_f]Guinevere[/name_f] though!! Why not mention it and see what he thinks? My husband was a hard no, sadly, but I’d love to see it used.
[name_f]Iris[/name_f] is lovely and I doubt most people would confuse it with Irish since [name_f]Iris[/name_f] is a very familiar name and flower. I think good old pregnancy brain might be getting the better of you atm.
I don’t think they’re very similar. I personally say them as eye-riss and eye-er-ish, so they’re not even the same number of syllables. I think [name_f]Iris[/name_f] is a pretty safe (and beautiful!!) name!
I’ve never thought of Irish when saying [name_f]Iris[/name_f]. [name_f]Iris[/name_f] is one of my favourite names and [name_f]Iris[/name_f] [name_f]Araminta[/name_f] [name_f]Rose[/name_f] is so beautiful - use it!
I don’t think it’s a problem at all! I’ve been having a name crush on [name_f]Iris[/name_f] myself, so I love to see that your using it! [name_f]Iris[/name_f] [name_f]Araminta[/name_f] [name_f]Rose[/name_f] is stunning!
[name_f]Iris[/name_f] is lovely and confusing it with Irish has never crossed my mind. It is unfortunate that people mention those silly things when discussing a name but try to ignore the comment and know that you have a beautiful name on your list.
Unless you have a lisp, they aren’t too close. It’s never crossed my mind before. [name_f]Iris[/name_f] [name_f]Araminta[/name_f] [name_f]Rose[/name_f] is lovely.
[name_f]Iris[/name_f] [name_f]Araminta[/name_f] [name_f]Rose[/name_f] is gorgeous! Yes, they’re only one letter apart and pretty similar but I don’t think that should be a dealbreaker. The connection’s never occurred to me before, but even if it had I don’t think it matters. It’s not a bad thing at all and just because a name is similar to a word shouldn’t make it unusable.
Thanks Berries for all the replies! I’m glad that no one thinks they are too similar! And yes I agree with @carysmarie and @brittanyanitarose, pregnancy brain is real and I definitely have it!
I did end up asking my hubby what he thought about [name_f]Guinevere[/name_f] and is he not a fan. So [name_f]Iris[/name_f] it is!!
