The most common pronunciations I hear for [name_f]Adeline[/name_f] are “AD-uh-line” and “AD-uh-lin”. I don’t think I’ve ever heard “leen” with this particular spelling.

I think all of the pronunciations are right, though- I know both “lin” and “line” are valid pronunciations.

I say ad-uh-leen, and prefer this way.

[name_m]Ad[/name_m]-UH-line for me. Adalynn is Ad-UH-lynn.

I’ve only ever heard AD-uh-line.

I say and have only heard -lyne.

My step aunt is called [name_f]Adeline[/name_f], she’s [name_u]French[/name_u] and pronounced it [name_m]Ad[/name_m]-uh-LEEN, so that’s most familiar to me.

Similarly I found it so confusing when [name_u]Cameron[/name_u] [name_u]Diaz[/name_u] named her wine [name_f]Aveline[/name_f] pronounced Ar-vuh-leen which is basically the exact opposite of how I would say it - Av-uh-lyne

I’ve never heard it leen. I think the -line, at least for this name, is actually pronounced the way it is spelled. ad UH line.

I’ve never heard [name_m]Ad[/name_m]-uh-leen on a real person, but that’s the way I say it in my head, and I like it best that way.
