Is it useable? Some of my faves

I am looking at some of DH and I’s favorite boy names. My first (so far) is [name]Ramona[/name] [name]Mae[/name] and so we like vintage and kind of spunky and we both favor names with long vowel sounds. WDYT of these?

[name]Bruce[/name]- this is DH’s late father and when we were pregnant with our first I hated it but its growing on me. The only Bruces I know of are cool/tough guys- Springsteen, [name]Willis[/name], [name]Lee[/name], [name]Wayne[/name] (batman) and I do think with a longer vintage MN it goes with our sibset- [name]Ramona[/name] [name]Mae[/name] and [name]Bruce[/name] [name]Matthias[/name] for example

[name]Gaius[/name]- pron. [name]Guy[/name]-us is this too teasable?
[name]Eamon[/name]
[name]Piers[/name]/[name]Pearce[/name]
[name]Eben[/name]/[name]Ebeneezer[/name]-would only use as a middle
[name]Titus[/name] (DH loves it but my little brother says all he can think of is “tight ass”)

I really love [name]Bruce[/name] and [name]Pearce[/name].

[name]Piers[/name] and [name]Eamon[/name] are definitely usable, I like them alright.

[name]Ebeneezer[/name] would be a fine middle name.

I think [name]Titus[/name] and [name]Gaius[/name] would be tough names to carry and I personally don’t think they are useable.

Ack, I forgot to add [name]Boaz[/name]. We love it and would probably use the NN [name]Bo[/name] but is it too weird?

I think [name]Bruce[/name] is sweet and the meaning for you guys is awesome. I also knew a tough-guy [name]Bruce[/name], it was my ex-fiance’s fathers mn (he was [name]Ronald[/name] [name]Bruce[/name]) but I always thought it was tough and suited him. I wouldn’t personally use it but I love it for you. It’s nice with [name]Ramona[/name], too.

I also don’t think [name]Titus[/name] and [name]Gaius[/name] are usable (and they’re awkward with [name]Ramona[/name]), and I’m not in love with [name]Eamon[/name]. The rAMONa and e[name]AMON[/name] similarity is all I can think of even though the sounds are different.

I like [name]Piers[/name]. [name]Don[/name]'t like [name]Ebeneezer[/name], I have to finish it with “Scrooge”. [name]Boaz[/name] is nice, different, and I like [name]Bo[/name] but would prefer it as a nickname to [name]Bodhi[/name] or just on it’s own, [name]Beau[/name]. [name]Ramona[/name] and [name]Bodhi[/name] I think is adorable. [name]Boaz[/name] to me is too similar to the word Bozo.

[name]Bruce[/name]!! Such great associations, and fits perfectly it [name]Ramona[/name]. [name]Gaius[/name] is my second favourite, I don’t think it’s any more teasable than [name]Gabriel[/name], which is much more common.

[name]Bruce[/name] [name]Gaius[/name] is just perfect.

I really like [name]Eamon[/name]!! [name]Bruce[/name] isn’t horrible, but not my fav.

[name]Bruce[/name]- okay. I kind of like it.
[name]Gaius[/name] - unfortunately, there is too much teasing potential, a weighty burden.
[name]Eamon[/name] - I love this name, it’s one of my favorites. I think it’s fine and usable.
[name]Piers[/name]/[name]Pearce[/name] - okay. I prefer [name]Piers[/name], [name]Pierce[/name] also comes to mind. What do you think of [name]Pierrot[/name], [name]Pierre[/name]?
[name]Ebeneezer[/name] - a fine name in the middle name slot, perhaps too heavy in the first. [name]Eben[/name] is okay too, but I prefer [name]Ebeneezer[/name].
[name]Titus[/name] - Same with [name]Gaius[/name]. What about Titius?

I love [name]Bruce[/name]! Such a cool name, with great associations. And I like it with [name]Ramona[/name].

Oh, I vote for [name]Boaz[/name]! [name]Boaz[/name] is cool and fits in with the modern day names of today, while still being a strong, biblical name.

I like the name [name]Pierce[/name] but spelt this way, I find [name]Piers[/name] too [name]Piers[/name] [name]Morgan[/name] and say it slightly differently to [name]Pierce[/name]/[name]Pearce[/name].

[name]Ebeneezer[/name] Scrooge.

[name]Titus[/name] does sound a lot like ‘tight ass’ but I think it works well with [name]Ramona[/name]! Have you considered [name]Linus[/name]?

Thanks for your input 'berries. sheflies I [name]LOVE[/name] [name]Linus[/name] but hubby nixed :frowning:
Would love to hear if anyone else has any thoughts.
Its nice to hear that people like [name]Bruce[/name]! Anyone have any middle name suggestions?
Same with [name]Boaz[/name]? Middle names ideas.

I don’t really have thoughts on the boy names, but OMG, [name]Ramona[/name] [name]Mae[/name] is [name]PRECIOUS[/name]! (And I’ve never been a fan of [name]Ramona[/name].) I think [name]Ramona[/name] [name]Mae[/name] may have changed my mind!

[name]Bruce[/name]- YES love it because I’m a HUGE Batman fan. My combo is seriously even [name]Bruce[/name] [name]Wayne[/name] lol.

[name]Gaius[/name]- ok
[name]Eamon[/name] - ok
[name]Piers[/name]/[name]Pearce[/name] - ok
[name]Eben[/name]/[name]Ebeneezer[/name]-[name]LOVe[/name] [name]Ebenezer[/name] as a name people think it’s ruined but remember Ebenezer changed in the end.
[name]Titus[/name] - nice

[name]Bruce[/name]: very 60’s and 70’s but coming back in
[name]Gaius[/name]: I know two elementary-aged Gaiuses. The one whose parents I talk to regularly don’t indicate that it’s any problem. If you live in a coastal city, kids have names from all over the world. There’s less teasing these days
[name]Eamon[/name]/[name]Piers[/name]/[name]Pierce[/name]/[name]Eben[/name]: I’ve always liked these names. [name]Eamon[/name] will get a lot of mispronunciation.
[name]Ebeneezer[/name] - [name]CHarles[/name] Dickens has ruined this name for another 100 years in my estimation
[name]Titus[/name]: There are an unfortunate number of ways to make this name lewd

[name]Bruce[/name] has grown on me a lot from how I once felt about it and I rather like it now… and it pairs well with [name]Ramona[/name] My second choice would be [name]Pearce[/name]. I just think it is a handsome name.

If I saw [name]Gaius[/name] I would pronounce it [name]Gay[/name]-us. So if that is an issue I would say pass.

If you are worried about [name]Gaius[/name], you can use [name]Caius[/name].

Although it was stated on NameBerry to pronounced by most as cai-us (rhymes with eye-us), it is pronounced as keys in [name]England[/name].

[name]Gaius[/name], it is said to be pronounced as [name]Guy[/name]-Us or [name]Gay[/name]-Us. Which do you prefer?

As a pp stated, I also do not believe it will any more teasing potential as [name]Gabriel[/name].

Thanks everyone! And Tintri we love our [name]Ramona[/name]'s name! It is perfect for us, and [name]Mae[/name] was my beloved great-grandma so it has special significance besides being perfect with [name]Ramona[/name]

natural I prefer the [name]Guy[/name]-us pron.
I like [name]Caius[/name], but our last name is C-----, and the double C is something I am not too fond of.

[name]Ramona[/name] and [name]Bruce[/name] is a brilliant little family! I babysat a [name]Bruce[/name] who would be about 12 now-- I haven’t seen him since he was a toddler, but it worked on him. [name]Do[/name] you have any family names you might want to use as [name]Bruce[/name]'s middle name?

[name]Piers[/name]- I do like this. I think ‘Plowman’, not ‘[name]Morgan[/name]’, so a much more interesting association
[name]Boaz[/name]- I want to like this, but I don’t like it as much as [name]Bruce[/name].
[name]Gaius[/name] and [name]Titus[/name]- all right, but a bit gladiatorial?
[name]Eben[/name]/[name]Ebenezer[/name]- There aren’t that many names that I would completely avoid because of the association, but [name]Ebenezer[/name] might be one. And this is from someone who will argue for [name]Elmo[/name] and [name]Grover[/name]. Have you got a family connection to [name]Ebenezer[/name] that might lighten the load for your son? If not, then there’s the similar sounding [name]Eliezer[/name]/[name]Eleazar[/name] (though please note that [name]Eleazar[/name] and [name]Titus[/name] have a history that would make them an odd choice for brothers).
[name]Eamon[/name]- great name, but really close to [name]Ramona[/name]-- not a dealbreaker, but if you’re looking to eliminate some options that could be a reason to drop this one. [name]Edmund[/name]? [name]Piers[/name] [name]Eamon[/name] is a pretty handsome fn-mn come to think of it.

[name]Piers[/name] and [name]Bruce[/name] are far and away my favourites from your list!

[name]Bruce[/name] is a strong name, and I’ve always liked it. I have a cousin named [name]Bruce[/name], and it’s my husband’s mn. We might have used it in the middle for our first son except my husband asked that we use his father’s mn instead.

I like these combos:
[name]Bruce[/name] [name]Gregory[/name] (my husband is [name]Gregory[/name] [name]Bruce[/name])
[name]Bruce[/name] [name]Nathaniel[/name]
[name]Bruce[/name] [name]Augustus[/name]
[name]Bruce[/name] [name]Geoffrey[/name]

[name]Boaz[/name]! [name]Love[/name] it! What about [name]Boaz[/name] [name]Ebeneezer[/name]?
