Or any other suggestions? The last name is [name]Reynolds[/name].
Other names we’ve considered for this baby if it is a girl (we aren’t finding out until birth) are [name]Diana[/name], [name]Sylvia[/name], and [name]Eleanor[/name]
Our DD #1 is named [name]Charlotte[/name] [name]Rose[/name].
I love [name]Jane[/name] as a first name, I don’t find it plain, but it’s not frilly… So I like a “frillier” middle name with it… [name]Jane[/name] [name]Cecilia[/name] is stunning!!!
I love [name]Jane[/name] as a first name–it’s strong and confident. All your choices are great. Also, [name]Jane[/name] [name]Allegra[/name], [name]Jane[/name] [name]Alexandra[/name], or [name]Jane[/name] [name]Adele[/name].
Okay, bear in mind that I am crazy biased because I [name]ADORE[/name] [name]Jane[/name], but…
This name is not plain. I honestly don’t understand where the “[name]Jane[/name] = plain” meme comes from. [name]Jane[/name] never cracked the Top 10 during the entire 20th century, so it was not even terribly common. [name]Jane[/name] isn’t plain: it’s pure. There are many variations, but [name]Jane[/name] is the root form of a name with history reaching back over a thousand years. Badass women have answered to [name]Jane[/name] for most of Western history. This name has seen rich and varied use, from Calamity [name]Jane[/name] to [name]Jane[/name] [name]Austen[/name], [name]Jane[/name] [name]Eyre[/name] to the [name]Jane[/name] Collective. There was even a [name]Jane[/name] in [name]Joss[/name] Whedon’s Firefly (yes, a dude, but still a [name]Jane[/name]!).
[name]Jane[/name] has a lush, gorgeous sound. It’s subtle but not simple, distinguished yet versatile. There’s no other name quite like it. [name]Jane[/name] isn’t plain: it’s perfect.
As we’ve been looking at less tried and true names over the course of our name picking, we keep coming back to it as our default middle name because we [name]LOVE[/name] the name. Its a very strong, powerful, feminine name without being a “gilded lily” with extra frills.
I still regret that I didn’t stick my guns and name my first daughter [name]Rose[/name] instead of [name]Charlotte[/name] [name]Rose[/name]. So this time, I’m asking opinions to help me sway the DH.
I didn’t mean to insult by calling it plain. Maybe I should have said “simple” or “understated”.
I don’t think that it is. I used it as a first name for one of my daughters so that should give you an idea of how I feel.
I think it’s beautiful. Feminine without being frilly. [name]Long[/name], established history. It’s often thought of as a common name, but it’s actually not that popular.
I love [name]Jane[/name] [name]Cecilia[/name]. That was one of the combinations on my list when I was naming my daughter. I think it works well with a longer, frillier middle name like [name]Beatrice[/name], [name]Guinevere[/name], [name]Winifred[/name], [name]Penelope[/name], [name]Amelia[/name], [name]Gwendolyn[/name], [name]Lucinda[/name].
I love [name]Jane[/name] as a first. I met a baby [name]Jane[/name] recently; she was gorgeous, and the name was so refreshing and elegant to hear in the fn spot.
I like the rhythm of [name]Jane[/name] [name]Eleanor[/name] or [name]Jane[/name] [name]Cecilia[/name].
I’ve been liking [name]Jane[/name] lately too! For a middle name, I suggest something frilly and with a long A sound in it. The ones that come to mind are:
I [name]LOVE[/name] [name]Jane[/name] as a first name! Think how refreshing a [name]Jane[/name] would be in a world of so many little Sophias and Bellas. [name]Jane[/name] [name]Cecelia[/name] is beautiful!
[name]Jane[/name] is on my short list of favourite FNs for girls. It’s streamlined, smooth. It works well with antiquities and yet isn’t frilly so it has a punchy one-syllable sound that works well in a modern setting - I have no trouble picturing a [name]Jane[/name] as a high-born lady in a historical novel, but also none picturing her as a lawyer or a [name]Marine[/name]. Everyone can spell it and knows it, but it’s not all that popular at all, really, as a first, which is a nice balance - I wouldn’t worry about multiples in a class, but even quite old people aren’t going to be “what?!” lol.
My personal bias is I find [name]Jane[/name] much more interesting up front - in the middle it seems a bit of a default choice, iykwim.
Anyway I like [name]Jane[/name] [name]Cecilia[/name] best of your combos. [name]Cecilia[/name] has a wonderful vintage quality and a soft sound.
Others I like (half on my own list, half inspired by your picks)
[name]Jane[/name] [name]Xanthe[/name]
[name]Jane[/name] [name]Zephirine[/name]
[name]Jane[/name] [name]Tabitha[/name]
[name]Jane[/name] [name]Cordelia[/name]
[name]Jane[/name] [name]Susannah[/name]
[name]Jane[/name] [name]Esme[/name]
[name]Jane[/name] [name]Cassia[/name]
[name]Jane[/name] [name]Alexandra[/name] or even [name]Jane[/name] [name]Alexandrina[/name]
Agree with the above comments-- [name]Jane[/name] is lovely as a fn. I’ve got an adorable 1.5 year old niece who is [name]Jane[/name] [name]Louise[/name], but there are lots of good combinations!
