I hope not. I’ve loved the name [name_m]Jason[/name_m] for a long time. When I was younger, I thought it was one of the ‘cool kid’ names, like [name_u]Dylan[/name_u] or [name_u]Logan[/name_u]. I still love it, love the Greek Mythology behind it and that it is recognizable and pronounceable. But is it too 80s or 90s? I’ve only met one [name_m]Jason[/name_m] myself, who was a coach of mine, so I don’t know what to base it off of. With [name_u]Jace[/name_u] being so popular right now, does that make [name_m]Jason[/name_m] the next [name_f]Jennifer[/name_f]? Or am I being crazy and making a problem out of nothing? All opinions are appreciated. Thanks!
i think [name_m]Jason[/name_m] is a solid boys’ name. i like that it is not too popular or overused these days but still a well known name, also bought up to date with the popular ‘n’ ending & ‘J’ beginning with current jay/jace nn’s. the only jasons’ i know is one in his 30’s & one who is a radio host in his 50’s. both well liked individuals. if you love it - go for it!
I don’t think it’s too outdated. Where I’m from it’s actually been pretty popular as of lately. I think it’s a great name!
It sort of screams 80’s to me. But who am I to talk? Like, 5 out of 10 of my top 10 fave boys names are just as 80’s as [name_m]Jason[/name_m]. I do love the name [name_m]Jason[/name_m] also. I think it’s certainly useable. Who cares if it’s a tad bit dated?
Yes… Its ok but sooooooooo overused in the 80’s…that being said i like it it is a solid strong boys name
It’s all right. I don’t think it’s dated to a particular age, at least not in my life. The [name_m]Jason[/name_m]'s I know are ages: 6, 21, and c. 30.
It’s not something I’d use but it’s a nice name.
I don’t think it’s too outdated. I’ve actually seen it mentioned a few times in birth announcements in the last year or two.
I don’t think it’s outdated, I would call it a modern classic such as [name_u]Ryan[/name_u] and [name_u]Kyle[/name_u]. I think [name_m]Jason[/name_m] is a nice, strong name and would fit in well with other current popular names while standing out.
I mean [name_m]Jason[/name_m]'s a little dated in my opinion, but not unusable by any means! [name_u]Jace[/name_u] could be a cool nick name he could use if he felt [name_m]Jason[/name_m] was too dated. But it has a cool, tough guy feel Its a very solid choice.
My problem with [name_m]Jason[/name_m] is more personal. I have honestly only met mean [name_m]Jason[/name_m]'s. I know there are nice ones out there, but I have yet to meet them. Yes, I find it dated, but I have been hearing it more here lately.
I’m surprised to see this making a comeback, to be honest. But I’m in Australia, and it might be different here.
[name_m]Jason[/name_m] is so dated to the '80s, and not in a good way. It reminds me of [name_u]Bradley[/name_u] or [name_u]Darren[/name_u]. I just wouldn’t go there, myself.
It’s a dad name to me – which is a shame, given the pleasant sound and mythological connotations. [name_m]How[/name_m] about strong, simple [name_u]Jay[/name_u]? Or sound-alike [name_u]Jadon[/name_u] or [name_m]Jacint[/name_m]?

[name_m]Jago[/name_m]
[name_m]Jerome[/name_m]
I agree with this!
[name_m]Jason[/name_m] definitely had its heyday in the 80s. I was born in 1980 and at one point I had four Jasons in my circle of friends; they all went by last names. Its still a nice name though, and very usable. I know a little boy named [name_m]Jason[/name_m] (his brother is [name_m]Johnny[/name_m]) and I think it still works today. Honestly, I’d much rather meet a [name_m]Jason[/name_m] than another [name_u]Jayden[/name_u] or [name_m]Jackson[/name_m].
I really like [name_m]Jason[/name_m]. As someone else said, the Jasons I know range in age from 4-30ish. I also agree with another poster that I’d rather meet a [name_m]Jason[/name_m] than [name_u]Jayden[/name_u].
Then again, [name_m]Brandon[/name_m] is on my list so I don’t have much of an issue with those 80s-90s cool guy names.
I’m hearing little boys named [name_m]Jeffrey[/name_m], why not [name_m]Jason[/name_m] too. Same era of popularity. My husband (he’s 43) is a [name_m]Jeffrey[/name_m]. His older brother a [name_m]Jason[/name_m].
It was really really really super popular in the 70’s and 80’s. But not so much anymore.
Its a good strong boys name and not at all strange. It might be a better option than trying too hard to be creative. And I agree with others, I’d rather hear [name_m]Jason[/name_m] than another [name_u]Jayden[/name_u] or [name_m]Jackson[/name_m]. If I heard [name_m]Jason[/name_m] I’d think “oh, how nice” even if it is a name I wouldn’t chose myself (it would be weird for me to name a kid after my brother in law).
So I think you could probably get away with it now, if you really like it.
But I’m someone who is considering names like [name_f]Diana[/name_f] and [name_f]Cassandra[/name_f] for a girl…so I guess I like outdated names
