Is Jesse a 'bad boy' name

[name]Just[/name] wondering if [name]Jesse[/name] is seen as a babd boy name, not the good way but as in the ‘naughty kid in school’ type way…
I have read multiple posts (here and other forums) where [name]Jesse[/name] is discourage because people have know a [name]Jesse[/name] who was naughty and horrible… Anyone agree?disagree?
I love the name [name]Jesse[/name] but I don’t love the connotations…

This makes me laugh because my nephew’s name is [name]Jesse[/name]. He just graduated High School and was the poster child for honesty, intelligence, integrity, and friendship (literally). He was a high honor student, captain of the football and baseball teams, full college scholarship award winner (academic and athletic), community award for helping people, and voted most likely to succeed. In our community, the name [name]Jesse[/name] has the utmost respect. I am so proud to be related to [name]Jesse[/name]!

WOW! that is the total opposite of the [name]Jesse[/name] stories I have hear (read), Thankyou! It makes me happy to know that not all [name]Jesse[/name]'s are bad

I don’t get a “bad boy” impression from [name]Jesse[/name] in the least. I actually really like the name. There is a [name]Jesse[/name] in my husband’s family and they will occasionally call him “messy” because he is just… a mess sometimes. Kind of whiney and a mama’s boy. So I guess if anything, I get the opposite of a bad boy connotation from [name]Jesse[/name].

Well, my name is [name]Jessie[/name] so I don’t get the bad-boy connotations with [name]Jesse[/name] as it is very similar to my name

The only [name]Jesse[/name] I know is 50/50 bad boy, mama’s boy. Half the time he’s terrible, the other half he’s whiny and really babyish…but he’s very smart for his age and can be really helpful when he wants to be.

That being said, of course not all [name]Jesse[/name]'s are bad. A name doesn’t make you a bad person. While the type of name you have might influence your personality slightly, it’s not going to make you an all around bad boy. I think [name]Jesse[/name] is a perfectly fine name and I see it as working on a sporty kid (the [name]Jesse[/name] I know plays flag football :stuck_out_tongue: )

It comes from [name]Jesse[/name] [name]James[/name], I think. I have an image of [name]Jesse[/name] as robbing stagecoaches, not pulling the school fire alarm.

The biblical [name]Jesse[/name] was a gentle shepherd, if that makes you feel better. And dantea’s point is most important: a name does not make you who you are, but it does subtly shape people’s expectations of you.

I’ll admit: when I picture someone named [name]Jesse[/name], I envision a leather jacket and motorcycle  In spite of this, however, I think it’s a nice name, and you shouldn’t feel discouraged to use it just because various characters and celebrities named [name]Jesse[/name] have been “bad”. If you raise your son to be polite and honest and caring, he will become as such. [name]Remember[/name], his name doesn’t define his character!

Impressions of names are based on personal experiences with the name. If you name your son [name]Jesse[/name], you and the people you know will make your own impressions of the name based on your child’s character. The name does not give him character, his experiences do.

With that said, three things come to mind when I think of [name]Jesse[/name]: [name]Jesse[/name] [name]James[/name], Uncle [name]Jesse[/name] from the tv show Full House, and [name]Jesse[/name] Pinkman from Breaking Bad. All either have a “bad boy” image or are legitimate bad boys.

All I can think of is Uncle [name]Jesse[/name] of Full House. That being said, the character was a bad boy turned stay at home dad

I have the same “leather jacket and motorcycle” image but as pp said, I am pretty sure it comes from growing up watching Uncle [name]Jesse[/name] on the show Full House, lol. And although he was supposed to be the rebellious brother, he was still a kind and helpful character and I never got the sense that it was a “bad boy” name even then. Now that I am older and have actually met a few [name]Jesse[/name]'s in my lifetime I can honestly say that they are all regular nice guys with only the slightest proclivity toward mischief which just comes with the territory of being a boy, haha. =]

To me [name]Jesse[/name] reflects a very handsome name. All the boys named [name]Jesse[/name] that I’ve known growing up were very good looking. (not to mention [name]John[/name] [name]Stamos[/name]'s Uncle [name]Jesse[/name] character in Full House) Anyway, I’ve know about three guys named [name]Jesse[/name] and they were all smart and athletic as well. If I think of [name]Jesse[/name] [name]James[/name], he was probably good looking too! It is an exciting name [name]IMO[/name]…[name]Just[/name] my opinion on the name [name]Jesse[/name]. :stuck_out_tongue:

This is funny. [name]Jesse[/name] has the opposite of a bad boy image for me. I hear the name [name]Jesse[/name] and imagine an honest, hardworking farmer from the late 1800s/early 1900s. The bad boy image probably comes from [name]Jesse[/name] [name]James[/name].
