Is Jesus usable as a middle name?

Thinking about naming a son [name_u]Ryan[/name_u] [name_m]Jesus[/name_m]. I just don’t know if it would be offensive in any way to use it - or if it seems wrong. I just really enjoy the sound of the name.

If you could let me know your opinions, I would really appreciate it! Thanks.

Are you Hispanic/Latino? If you are and/or pronounce it hay-zues then I think that is fine. If you’re pronouncing it like actually gee-zus then no, i definitely wouldn’t do that if it were me.

I was going to say exactly what @emersonwildwood just said

I know that name is rather popular amongst the Hispanic community, but if you weren’t Hispanic, I would find it a bit odd. Not necessarily offensive, but I wouldn’t do it.

Maybe [name_u]Ryan[/name_u] [name_u]Jesse[/name_u]?

This exactly.

Agreeing with others.

I agree with the above comments. [name_m]Jesus[/name_m] in English just isn’t used as a name. I think it would definitely be making a statement.

I wouldn’t really do it either way. It feels weird to me, personally.

It’s a strong no from me, unless it is a name from your culture.

I think it’s fine for a middle name. I wouldn’t use it personally as I’m atheist and I would find it weird to name my child that. But it’s only a name!

[name_m]Jesus[/name_m] and [name_m]Joshua[/name_m] come from the same name, and [name_m]Joshua[/name_m] would be a much easier name to wear while still holding the same meaning.

NO! [name_m]Even[/name_m] if you were Hispanic, please don’t do that! It’s totally fine to give your children names with religious meanings but not literally [name_m]Jesus[/name_m]! You have no idea if your child will be religious or not (and the tendency of the future is no) and if I had that name I would not like it! It’s like naming your child [name_f]Gucci[/name_f] or something.

I second this. I wouldn’t quite say using [name_m]Jesus[/name_m] (gee-zus) would be offensive, but it would be… awkward, I suppose. The religious association is too prominent for me to even consider the name personally.

I wouldn’t call it offensive, but [name_f]IMO[/name_f] [name_m]Jesus[/name_m] isn’t and never will be usable at all.

RT this, precisely.

I wouldn’t recommend using [name_m]Jesus[/name_m] unless you or your SO come from a culture where it’s a normal name. And if you’re not [name_m]Christian[/name_m] and have no reason for using it other than liking the sound, it could come across as disrespectful.

Ditto ditto ditto, I’m afraid. Taken in the abstract, I agree that [name_m]Jesus[/name_m] is a nice-sounding name. BUT (in English at least) it’s the very definition of a one-person name. Not usable.

I agree, I don’t think it would work if you weren’t Hispanic/Latino…
