Is Jillian awkward to say?

My husband and I both agreed on [name_f]Jillian[/name_f]. We both love it but now I’m having concerns. I’ve gotten some feedback that it’s difficult or awkward to say. My mom had a hard time saying it the first time she heard it but now she says it fine. My mom has a bit of Southern U.S. accent. Anyways, what do you think? Is it hard to pronounce or do you think she’ll get [name_m]Julian[/name_m] a lot ?

In the Australian accent [name_f]Jillian[/name_f] and [name_m]Julian[/name_m] sound really different… I wouldn’t have thought it was difficult to pronounce. A friend of mine is named [name_f]Jillian[/name_f], she gets called [name_f]Jill[/name_f] or [name_f]Jilly[/name_f] for short.

I don’t find it difficult to say. I’m from the mid Atlantic united states if that helps.

I find [name_f]Jillian[/name_f] to be very easy and pleasant to say, and I don’t think it sounds like [name_m]Julian[/name_m]. I’m from the southern US.

Thanks for the feedback. It does help to know where you’re from. I just don’t want her growing up having to correct everyone’s pronunciation.

I don’t find it hard to say at all. I do know a [name_f]Jillian[/name_f] and I don’t know of any pronunciation issues. Go for it!

I don’t find it hard to pronounce. [name_f]Jillian[/name_f] and [name_m]Julian[/name_m] so very different to me as well.I know multiple [name_f]Jillian[/name_f]'s (and multiple Julians) and none of them ever had a pronunciation issue that I know of. I’m from [name_m]New[/name_m] [name_u]Jersey[/name_u], USA.

I see no problems with [name_f]Jillian[/name_f]. The [name_f]Jillian[/name_f] I knew didn’t seem to have any problems. Great name!

I have no problem saying it. Great name!

There are a lot of names out there that I find hard to say and [name_f]Jillian[/name_f] is definitely NOT one of them.
I think it’s a lovely name!

I have a friend named [name_f]Jillian[/name_f], and unfortunately some people do say [name_m]Julian[/name_m]. Most people get that it’s not, though. I think you’re good

It’s not confusing. But it’s an awkward name.

I have known 2 Jillians in my life and never had any issue with their names. Neither of them ever complained about people not being able to say their names, either. I think it’s just common enough that most people will know it and not have an issue with pronunciation. One of these friends was on the east coast of the US and the other in [name_f]England[/name_f].

[name_f]Jillian[/name_f] and [name_m]Julian[/name_m] are really similar and I have to resist the urge to say [name_m]Julian[/name_m] every time I say [name_f]Jillian[/name_f].

As I am in the UK, [name_f]Jillian[/name_f] and [name_m]Julian[/name_m] are prn quite differently but I don’t know about this in the US.

I’ve got a bit of a Southern twang but don’t have a problem pronouncing [name_f]Jillian[/name_f] correctly. I think it’s a gorgeous name.
