As a person named [name_f]Mabel[/name_f], I can tell you that I love my name. It’s unique enough that I can stand out a bit, but not so unique that I get strange looks, and it’s easy to spell. More than that, personally I think it’s sweet and vintage, and as previous posters have said, go with the name that you and your wife love. Others will warm up to it once it’s attached to your beautiful baby girl.
I’ve always gotten good comments on my name, and the nickname [name_f]Mae[/name_f] (though I’ve never been called that myself) is adorable. Good luck!
I think [name_f]Mabel[/name_f] is a beautiful name. Yes it may be seen as old fashioned by some but that only means it due a comeback. As others have said - I think you’ll be ahead of the curve. If you love it go for it! Once people get to know your baby they will associate the name with her anyway and then love it just as much as you guys do. Also those who are not initial lovers of [name_f]Mabel[/name_f] can use the NN [name_f]Mae[/name_f] anyway so long as you guys are okay with it. I think [name_f]Mabel[/name_f] [name_f]Paige[/name_f], [name_f]Mabel[/name_f] [name_u]Evelyn[/name_u] and [name_f]Mabel[/name_f] [name_u]Taylor[/name_u] sound great although all of your suggestions are lovely. Also it’s probably sensible to have a back up to ensure your baby suits her name

[name_f]Mabel[/name_f] was delivered at 5:12am this morning! YES we are sticking with [name_f]Mabel[/name_f] - we love it.
She will either be [name_f]Mabel[/name_f] [name_f]Paige[/name_f] [name_m]Williams[/name_m] or [name_f]Mabel[/name_f] [name_f]Victoria[/name_f] [name_m]Williams[/name_m] - will make our final choice tomorrow. My mother proposed [name_f]Victoria[/name_f] today and we both like it.

To be honest, [name_f]Mabel[/name_f] just doesn’t feel feminine or graceful. I really like [name_u]Evelyn[/name_u]. It’s pretty and could be shortened to [name_f]Evie[/name_f] for a cute nickname.
