Is Magnolia too much?

Thinking of ways I can get to my sweet [name_f]Maggie[/name_f].
I’ll include a poll, so it’s quick, but please, comments and suggestions would be much appreciated!
We are also trying to find a boy’s name, since we are having twins. Suggestions are welcomed!

edit: oops, forgot to include the poll. Sorry!

My favourites:
[name_f]Maggie[/name_f]
[name_f]Georgia[/name_f]
[name_u]Rory[/name_u]
[name_f]Seraphina[/name_f]
[name_f]Celestia[/name_f]
[name_m]William[/name_m] ([name_u]Billy[/name_u])
[name_u]Walker[/name_u]
[name_u]Elliott[/name_u]
[name_m]Jasper[/name_m]

DH’s favourites:
[name_u]Marlowe[/name_u]
[name_f]Elisabeta[/name_f]
[name_f]Andromeda[/name_f]
[name_u]Theo[/name_u]
[name_u]Emery[/name_u]
[name_m]Harry[/name_m]
[name_m]Patrick[/name_m]

[name_f]Magnolia[/name_f] is gorgeous and a wonderfully special name to get the nn [name_f]Maggie[/name_f].

What kind of boys names do you like?

just did a quick edit and included them in my original post!

Thanks [name_f]Gina[/name_f] for your response so quickly. [name_f]Magnolia[/name_f] is really growing on me!

I love love love [name_f]Magnolia[/name_f] so I’m really biased. I think it’s better than the other options. I’ve seen your posts about your love for the name [name_f]Maggie[/name_f], and I just can’t see those other names working for you in the long run. I think you can swing to [name_f]Maggie[/name_f] with [name_f]Elisabeta[/name_f] and [name_u]Marlowe[/name_u], a very roundabout way. [name_f]Andromeda[/name_f] might get you there if you squint, though that name always makes me think of a bacteria for some reason. [name_u]Walker[/name_u] and [name_m]Jasper[/name_m] look and sound best with [name_f]Magnolia[/name_f]. To give your husband a helping hand, I’ll say from his list [name_u]Theo[/name_u] would be the [name_f]Magnolia[/name_f] partner.

I think with [name_f]Magnolia[/name_f] nn [name_f]Maggie[/name_f] you would be best off with an equally powerful & long boys name with a sweet nickname. Some ideas based off of your lists…

[name_m]Frederick[/name_m] nn [name_u]Freddy[/name_u]
[name_m]Theodore[/name_m] nn [name_u]Theo[/name_u]
[name_m]Harrison[/name_m] nn [name_m]Harry[/name_m]

Pulling directly from your list I would agree with pp that [name_m]Jasper[/name_m] & [name_u]Walker[/name_u] work wonderfully with your [name_f]Maggie[/name_f]. I especially adore [name_u]Walker[/name_u]! I had a crush on a boy growing up named [name_u]Walker[/name_u] and he became a male model  hehe

I am also a fan of [name_f]Magnolia[/name_f].

Another beautiful [name_f]Maggie[/name_f] name is [name_f]Magdalena[/name_f] Prn mag-da-LEh-na. [name_f]Magdalena[/name_f] has a similar feel to your husband’s favourites [name_f]Andromeda[/name_f] and [name_f]Elisabeta[/name_f] and your [name_f]Seraphina[/name_f] and [name_f]Celestia[/name_f].

From your lists I like [name_u]Elliott[/name_u] and [name_u]Emery[/name_u] for [name_u]Baby[/name_u] A’s brother.

A few years ago, yes, I did think [name_f]Magnolia[/name_f] was perhaps ‘a bit much’, however, nowadays I actually think it to be lovely. [name_f]Magnolia[/name_f] with the nickname of [name_f]Maggie[/name_f] would be a fantastic name.

As for a male twin, I think either [name_m]William[/name_m], [name_m]Jasper[/name_m] or [name_u]Theo[/name_u] would go well with [name_f]Magnolia[/name_f].

I love [name_f]Magnolia[/name_f], less so the nn [name_f]Maggie[/name_f], but I think it’s a beautiful longer name to have and the nn is intuitive. I don’t think it’s too much at all. I like the PP suggestion of [name_f]Magdalena[/name_f]. Others would be [name_f]Magda[/name_f], [name_f]Magdalene[/name_f], [name_f]Magdala[/name_f], Megara, [name_f]Marguerite[/name_f], [name_f]Margaret[/name_f], [name_f]Magritte[/name_f], [name_f]Marjorie[/name_f].

[name_f]Magnolia[/name_f], [name_f]Seraphina[/name_f], [name_f]Celestia[/name_f], [name_f]Elisabeta[/name_f], [name_f]Georgia[/name_f], [name_m]Theodore[/name_m], [name_m]William[/name_m], [name_m]Jasper[/name_m], [name_u]Elliot[/name_u], [name_m]Patrick[/name_m], [name_m]Harrison[/name_m] nn [name_m]Harry[/name_m] works better than just [name_m]Harry[/name_m] – all these go nicely together. I don’t think having a more ornate girls name means you have to go for an elaborate boys names. I do think it’d be good to match length though and opt for something formal even if you call him by a nickname.

[name_u]Rory[/name_u] is a bit of an outlier, goes well with [name_u]Marlowe[/name_u], [name_u]Emery[/name_u], “just” [name_u]Theo[/name_u], [name_m]Harry[/name_m].

[name_f]Andromeda[/name_f] – takes the boldness up and over [name_f]IMO[/name_f].

I like [name_f]Magnolia[/name_f] & [name_m]Theodore[/name_m] – [name_f]Maggie[/name_f] & [name_u]Theo[/name_u]. Seems very natural. I too like the idea of a longer name with a sweet nickname to keep the duo balanced. Next I’d say [name_m]William[/name_m] & [name_f]Magnolia[/name_f].

[name_f]Elisabeta[/name_f] & [name_m]William[/name_m]
[name_f]Seraphina[/name_f] & [name_m]Jasper[/name_m] – not sure why but these two click for me.

[name_m]Plenty[/name_m] of good choices! If you’re looking to narrow down the list I would nix the unisex names, as I feel like it will be nice for a boy/girl twinset to have solid gender discernment – so there isn’t the confusion of which one is [name_u]Rory[/name_u] and which one is [name_u]Emery[/name_u]. But that is just my opinion.

I think Magnolia is fine, but I second the suggestion of Magdalena! From your list I think Jasper would go best as a sibling. However, I do think that longer, more unique name, with a nickname would better match Magnolia. Some other ideas:

Theodore – Teddy/Theo
Edmund or Edgar – Ed/Eddie
Finley – Finn
Harrison – Harry
Oliver – Ollie
Tobias – Tobby
Vincent – Vince
Leander – Lee/Anders/Andy
Percival – Percy

Thank you everyone! Really loving [name_f]Magnolia[/name_f] more and more every time I see it. I think our best bet for [name_f]Maggie[/name_f]'s twin brother will be [name_m]Theodore[/name_m], and we’ll call him [name_u]Theo[/name_u]. [name_f]Maggie[/name_f] and [name_u]Theo[/name_u] just seems like such a natural progression. Thank you all so much for your help, I’ll keep you posted after I talk to DH r.e. [name_f]Magnolia[/name_f] tomorrow!

I like [name_f]Magnolia[/name_f] a lot, it is sweet and charming. I don’t think it’s too much, especially with nickname [name_f]Maggie[/name_f]. [name_f]Magnolia[/name_f] and [name_m]Jasper[/name_m] would be wonderful together.

I love [name_f]Magnolia[/name_f]! I think [name_f]Magnolia[/name_f] and [name_f]Georgia[/name_f] are beautiful together!

[name_f]Magnolia[/name_f] “[name_f]Maggie[/name_f]” and [name_m]Theodore[/name_m] “[name_u]Theo[/name_u]” would be lovely together. [name_f]Magnolia[/name_f] “[name_f]Maggie[/name_f]” and [name_f]Georgia[/name_f] are really nice as well - they have somewhat of a southern belle vibe to me, which I don’t mind at all. [name_f]Magnolia[/name_f] definitely isn’t too much, especially if you’re realistically considering [name_f]Andromeda[/name_f]! (No offense to [name_f]Andromeda[/name_f], but it seems kind of “bigger” than [name_f]Magnolia[/name_f] to me.)

[name_f]Magnolia[/name_f] “[name_f]Maggie[/name_f]”
[name_u]Ellery[/name_u] “[name_f]Eller[/name_f]” ([name_u]Elliot[/name_u] and [name_u]Emery[/name_u]) / [name_u]Harper[/name_u] “Har” “Harps” “Ar” ([name_m]Harry[/name_m] and [name_m]Jasper[/name_m])

[name_f]Magnolia[/name_f] nn [name_f]Maggie[/name_f] is our #1 for a girl. I was shocked we both loved it so much, but we do! I don’t think it’s too much!

I think [name_f]Magnolia[/name_f] is pretty, it’s not my favorite flower or my favorite flower name but I think it makes a great unique name for the nickname [name_f]Maggie[/name_f].

I third the whole Magdelena - gorgeous name, I adore it.

[name_f]Magnolia[/name_f] is gorgeous, definite nickname [name_f]Maggie[/name_f]. I like [name_f]Magnolia[/name_f] and [name_u]Walker[/name_u].

Some ideas…
[name_f]Magnolia[/name_f] and [name_f]Aster[/name_f]
[name_f]Magnolia[/name_f] and [name_m]Banyan[/name_m]
[name_f]Magnolia[/name_f] and [name_m]Myron[/name_m]
[name_f]Magnolia[/name_f] and [name_m]Darrow[/name_m]

[name_f]Magnolia[/name_f] and [name_m]Theodore[/name_m] are perfection!

I would just use [name_f]Maggie[/name_f] by herself. [name_f]Magnolia[/name_f] seems over the top in this day and age.

Some names that [name_f]Maggie[/name_f] could be a nickname for:
[name_f]Margo[/name_f]
[name_f]Magdalena[/name_f]
[name_f]Megan[/name_f]
[name_f]Magda[/name_f]
[name_f]Margaret[/name_f]

[name_m]Hi[/name_m] guys,

I have really fallen head over heels with [name_f]Magnolia[/name_f] [name_f]Adele[/name_f]. I tried to use some other middles like [name_f]Belle[/name_f] or [name_f]Eve[/name_f] or [name_f]Eloise[/name_f], but [name_f]Adele[/name_f] just felt so right and so beautiful, a great match for my [name_f]Maggie[/name_f]. As for [name_u]Theo[/name_u], I love [name_m]Theodore[/name_m] [name_m]Solomon[/name_m]. My father and DH’s grandfather have names that include peace ([name_m]Solomon[/name_m]'s meaning) so it’s a way of honouring them. DH and I are talking names over dinner tonight, so I’ll be really interested to see what he’s going to come up with!!

Thanks everyone so much for all your help, I’ll keep you all posted on our twins!
