I don’t think they’re dull! These are vintage names. They’re all lovely. What do you want in a name? [name_f]Do[/name_f] you want one that is strong and prim? One that conveys a sense of spunk and cheer, but still classic? One that is a showstopper? For instance, for me, I like a name that is rooted in that vintage-classic style, that feels familiar, but maybe a little but more perky or modern. For example, [name_f]Phoebe[/name_f]. Similar name [name_f]Penelope[/name_f] is just as vintage-classic, but she’s more staid and elegant than quirky [name_f]Phoebe[/name_f]. Similar name [name_f]Fiona[/name_f] isn’t as vintage-classic, but she’s more fanciful and feminine.
[name_f]Alice[/name_f] - I can’t come up with a name better than [name_f]Alice[/name_f] herself. [name_f]Adele[/name_f] or [name_f]Adela[/name_f] are in a similar vein, though.
[name_f]Rosemary[/name_f] - With cute [name_u]Romy[/name_u] for short? You could go with heavier [name_f]Rosamund[/name_f], perhaps more of a statement, or more flirty [name_f]Rosanna[/name_f]. [name_f]Rosette[/name_f] and [name_f]Rosetta[/name_f] are unused gems as well.
[name_f]Madeleine[/name_f] - A true [name_m]French[/name_m] classic. She’s lovely, but not bold, and that’s okay. I’d suggest [name_f]Magdalen[/name_f] or [name_f]Melisande[/name_f] as similar, more striking choices.
[name_f]Caroline[/name_f] - [name_f]Coraline[/name_f] is the zesty [name_f]Caroline[/name_f] alternative, or [name_f]Charlotta[/name_f] for something richer.
[name_f]Hazel[/name_f] - She could become [name_u]Averil[/name_u], but [name_f]Hazel[/name_f] is a sweet, semi-dusty nature name. [name_f]Iris[/name_f] or [name_f]Ivy[/name_f] are similar, but little-used [name_f]Fern[/name_f] is a nice alternative.
[name_f]Beatrice[/name_f] - [name_m]Kick[/name_m] up the spice on [name_f]Beatrice[/name_f] in a flash with [name_f]Beatrix[/name_f].
[name_f]Katarina[/name_f] - [name_f]Catriona[/name_f] is alluring to me. I prefer [name_f]Katharina[/name_f] as a spelling of this name, personally, over [name_f]Katarina[/name_f], or even [name_f]Katerina[/name_f]. Zippy [name_u]Kit[/name_u] is fun all on her own.
[name_f]Isabel[/name_f] - [name_f]Isobel[/name_f] isn’t used much, and [name_f]Isabeau[/name_f] makes a statement. [name_f]Isadora[/name_f] is romantic and deep, whereas [name_f]Elizabeth[/name_f] is even more classic. [name_f]Eliza[/name_f] is just as vintage and sweet, but a little more lilting and playful. [name_f]Elspeth[/name_f], too, is a statement name that feels, much like [name_f]Gwyneth[/name_f], strong and firm. [name_f]Arabella[/name_f] is more romantic than [name_f]Isabel[/name_f], [name_f]Claribel[/name_f] is quirky and sweet.
[name_f]Seraphine[/name_f] - [name_f]Seraphine[/name_f] is a fair statement herself. I’d say similar-sounding [name_f]Delphine[/name_f] works as an alternative.
[name_f]Mariana[/name_f] - [name_f]Mary[/name_f] names can be tough. My new find is [name_f]Mariel[/name_f], preferred over [name_f]Marielle[/name_f], or the fun place-name [name_f]Marietta[/name_f].
[name_f]Louisa[/name_f] - Nobody uses [name_f]Louisa[/name_f] anymore, and [name_f]Louise[/name_f] is a dusty middle name, so why not use [name_f]Louisa[/name_f]? [name_f]Eloise[/name_f] is a little more girly chic, whereas [name_f]Eloisa[/name_f] is more frilly and romantic. [name_f]Lucinda[/name_f] is similar but a little more rich (like [name_f]Isadora[/name_f] above).
Overall, I don’t find your list plain! I quite like [name_f]Alice[/name_f], [name_f]Caroline[/name_f], [name_f]Hazel[/name_f], and [name_f]Louisa[/name_f] in particular.
